Great cafe at the top of Streatham common by the rookery. Staff are friendly helpful and cheerful. Food is great. A must while on the common and a great place for brunch.
Love the new summer menu and the friendly staff who work very hard.
Relaxing , perfect location, good food, ice cream , gluten free choice, almond/soya organic milk for a coffe too, wi-fi connection next to a beautiful park!
My boyfriend and I simply loved it..the atmosphere..the food..the people. Everything was just lovely! You must try their strawberry icecream, felt like holiday time!:)
Nice restoration, had my usual cofee and cake. Friendly people
I think this is actually pretty exceptional for a park cafe and wish we had the same in our local parks. The food and presentation is most definitely above and beyond other local parks including big parks like Beckenham Place Park and Crystal Palace.
I guess it comes down to personal taste and preferences but I found their breakfast offering exceptional. If you want a decent cooked breakfast that is countryside fresh come here. I think for some the breakfast needs to be larger but for me it was perfectly sized.
I do agree that the staff need to be more welcoming. I hope that visitors to the cafe can bare with the cafe in finding its feet and finding good staff.
Top tier baps. Always very busy but not much of a wait for either coffee or food. I will say that adding extras (eg sausage to a bacon & egg) is a little dear, but they are so good.
Always a treat to stop here after a walk around the common. Staff are friendly, a wide variety of food and drink available from great coffee to yummy smoothies.
Lovely little cafe in a great location. They even had some gluten free bread to go with their Rookery breakfast!
Located next to the Rookery on Streatham Common, this small cafe with indoor and outdoor seating is a relaxing place to take time out. The coffee is superb and the cakes are always very tempting.
There has been a cafe here for years and years, my grandmother when she was alive used to bring me and my brother here when we stayed with her for the weekend. Then there used to be a 10p machine out the front where you could get a suprise ball with a yo-yo or tin ring inside, there was also a ride along kids machine. The owners used to be Italian and we would order a plate of egg and chips with ketchup squeezed all over the chips in squiggly patterns, they had a counter for ice-creams with lots of flavours and sometimes we would have big chocolate biscuits with chocolate chips in. Some years after my gran died I returned to the cafe to delight in egg and chips once more. There was such happiness to know the place was still there. Then about 4/5 years ago I returned once again but it had changed hands, you could no longer buy egg and chips instead this had been swapped for buckwheat, sourdough and smashed avocado. And the cost had gone up quite considerably. As nice as those things are, they don't have the same fondness and comfort of that Italian cafe on the hill.
I visited again recently with my son, we were too late to order any food but did order some hot chocolate at the door (they don't let you inside). It seems that you can order on an app or by card at the door, I am not sure about cash . We ordered an ordinary hot chocolate and a special hot chocolate which comes with whipped cream, marshmallows and sprinkles, as my son is vegetarian he could not have the marshmallows (perhaps the owners could think about catering to the vegetarian/ pescatarian/ vegan diets by buying some non gelatin marshmallows). When the hot chocolates arrived it seems the sprinkles were freeze dried raspberries, not brightly coloured sugar strands, which my son couldn't eat either - so I picked those off for him and he proceeded to get whipped cream and chocolate all over his face! My hot chocolate was the simple one. The outside seating was clean, looked recently done up and kept us dry.
The staff were functional more than welcoming, perhaps to be expected at the end of a wet Saturday afternoon, and overall the cafe was a welcome break in the rain but how I missed the nostalgia of my youth and that my son would not have anywhere near the same kind of love I had for the cafe on the hill.
Outstanding quality food and best coffee. Visiting family I love walking to the rookery and enjoy the cafe experience. Great staff too
We love it here! We stop at the Rookery most days on our dog walks - the coffee and cakes are delicious and the staff are great! Tabitha and her team always go out of their way to make us feel welcome and our puppy totally adores them! Especially when she gets treated to a little puppaccino!
This place is by far the best cafe if you are around Norbury/Streatham Common. I was very surprised to see how much it has changed since I last visited 4-5 years ago. The coffee is very tasty, same for the food. Good selection of vegetarian options. I like how the interior is made to look warm and welcoming. I paid just £2.50 for a delicious flat white. Very decent prices and the Rookery gardens behind are a hidden gem for the area.
Great menu in a great spot!
Food is delicious and served with a friendly smile! Dog friendly too!
Lovely spot for a leisurely coffee & bites. Dog friendly, which makes it a great hangout for those who love them.!
Lovely cafe with friendly and helpful staff. The coffee is absolutely delicious as are their hot chocolates. They have a great menu with a range of options including plenty of veggie things, and clearly use high quality ingredients. A great place to stop as you wander around the common and Rookery gardens.
The place is very nice , the coffee a little expensive than other places but nice taste and flavour, you need to eat the lemon poppy seeds muffin is amazing. Service is nice but the coffee takes to much time to be ready. Sometimes the barista is chatting or going slowly around the coffee area , waiting time is even 10 min for one simple coffee.
A lovely relaxing cafe. Friendly service. I saw people on their own relaxing with a book and a drink.
Perfect spot to relax and enjoy a good cup of coffee, before your walks around the park. On the special occasion it was a raining day.
