Visited yesterday and want to say what a absolute gem of a gastro pub, amazing well trained staff and amazing food and ambience.
I don't usually write reviews, but my stay yesterday with freinds was such a lovely time and felt a justly review was only fair.
I wanted to throw out there how well the covid new culture was implemented.
We had near us a group of young gentleman clearly taking liberty's with the social distancing and they was told more than enough times, but to great relief out pops a manager, I think he said his name was Terry, who previously warned them on social distancing, as clearly they were mixing with some well powdered girls opersite to them.
And he very firmly told them to listen or leave, we noted he also after, told a more respectable part of there party about there freinds childish carefree attitudes and they where seen to leave promtly.
The manager also confronted some woman also disrespecting the rules and they left also.
I take my hat off to him and the staff that dealt with these selfish uneducated people.
It left me and the relief of other guest to enjoy our lovely meal and catch ups.
Daisy was our server who also was very lovely!

Have been going to the Cuckfield for a number of years now as the food has always been so good, specifically the Sunday roast. Being a gastro-pub the menu takes British pub classics such as fish and chips or bangers and mash and modernises them with seasonal ingredients and an innovative twist.
On this visit the quality was good but the portions are small for what you're paying (not the best value for money). Sampled the mac and cheese bites with truffle oil, vegetable arincini and the fries. Desserts were also good but again small portions - the salted caramel profiteroles and mandarin torte were delicious, though the chocolate brownie was somewhat lacking in flavour.
With a large selection of Kraft beers, wines and ciders that are reasonably priced for London, the Cuckfield is always busy, so reservations are recommended. The only real let down is the hit and miss nature of the bar staff - the service will either be super friendly or hostile and miserable, depending on who you get!
Great sandwiches and ok in the day and quiet evenings. However never been able to get coffee in there as machine always broken, poor bar service sometime, and lacks character and gets horribly full some evenings - not in a good way. Round Christmas saw two separate people against the wall in the smoking area throwing up
The meals here are good quality pub food, at a decent price overall. This is of a higher standard than your cheap and cheerful chain pub fair.
On my last trip here the salted caramel cheesecake is definitely something to indulge in!
Fantastic Pub Experience with a Beautiful Beer Garden!
Went to The Cuckfield in Wanstead for a quick drink and some nibbles, and it turned out to be a delightful experience! The pub had a lovely atmosphere with its charming interior. The 3 for £16 deal on bar food was a steal, considering the area's prices. I was impressed by their extensive selection of cocktails, which catered to all tastes. However, the real gem was the stunning beer garden at the back, undoubtedly one of the best in London. Even during a busy Father's Day lunchtime, the service remained quick and efficient. Highly recommended!

The only problem we faced here was to walk and go to the bill counter to place an order for your drinks and bring them to your table as they don’t serve alcohol at the table.
Wonderful staff, beautiful location. Alfresco dining. Delicious aromas of Sunday dinner as you enter the front bar area.
Highly recommend for a nice chilled atmosphere with a homely cooked meal.
Found the his gem spot by an accident while wondering around Wanstead area. Venue is huge, very cozy and the greatest part is… big, green garden at the back of the building! ❤️ menu looks great, tries few bar snacks and I just say the best tacos I’ve had! Planning to go back to try the classic Sunday Roast 😎
Really like this place, came on a quiet thurs late afternoon. Friendly staff, well kept lager (Pravha), and even though quiet in here the food came out hot and delicious. Will come back when in Wanstead again.
Sat outside in the evening so was a little breezy and the seat we were at the heating wasn’t working. Some other seats were wet. But we managed to move after someone else moved. Not too busy by late evening. Found the food good and drinks but it’s a little pricy for what it is. Would come back.
We came for a team drinks and buffet. The staff were excellent from start to finish, taking very good care of our group, and the food was impressive. We were expecting low grade 'pub grub' but were pleasantly surprised, it was really enjoyable.
Lovely pub, visited quite a few times. Staff have always been friendly and food is usually better than average pub grub, but probably also pricier. Nice atmosphere, got a little stuffy in the glass roofed area though! Very dog friendly too 👍🏻
Been many times and can’t give one fault! The staff, service and food is always amazing. A brilliant place to go for any occasion, definitely recommend!!! 👏

I love this place. I’ve been a few times recently as they have so maybe nice things on the menu. Most recently I had the linguine which was delicious. I like that you can go in there and get a decent beer or glass of wine too. A lot of places seem to be going downhill at the moment but if anything I’d say the cuckfield keeps improving!
This pub is really good. The food was good and decent priced and they have a great selection of beers. The atmosphere is really nice and it's very clean pub as well. Would def reccomended

The staff were very polite, helpful & approachable.
Every questions or concerns was answered or addressed swiftly.
Many of our invitees who did not know of the Cuckfield have now noted the venue for its food, atmosphere & great staff.
We travel globally and it said that the UK is not renowned for good customer service. But we can certainly endorse the Cuckfield, Wanstead as being consistent in there attitude & excellent service delivery.

I had the quinoa broccoli salad. The dressing was so thick it was like sludge. It should be light and zingy. The starters were good though and the linguine (seafood) was fine. Rose wine was very nice.

This is a 4.9 star pub.
There is pretty much no way to fault it.
Aside from maybe offering a 7 course vegetarian roast, Summer sun in the heart of Winter, a dog that feeds your own dog from its own mouth and both dogs are cuddled upon a cloud thereafter, and an upside down thimble in which you can place your unreached expectations.
Also...at least one bar person has (partly) seen Crocodile Dundee.
That can never be a bad thing.
Had a lovely evening with an old friend. Decided to stay for dinner. We ordered some steak with some padron peppers and tenderstem broccoli which was delicious. Super impressed with the level or service from all the staff especially Josh and Bill. A special thank you to them for the hospitality and patience. Will be back again.
I had a simple cheeseburger and the beef was just excellent, what a taste! Can also recommend the calamari 👌🏻 the waiter’s we’re very friendly and helpful. Everything was pleasant.

The Cuckfield is a great pub for drinks at any time as the beer garden is a lovely space. The recent makeover really has made a difference and the restaurant is a great space too.
