I was very surprised by the latest branch of the TAP family. Most TAP branches aren't usually spacious while they get so many customers due to their great locations and quality products. However this one has a very decent size shop space while it's located in a not extremely touristic area but still pretty well connected.
Besides the ceiling to floor windows brings in lots of natural lights and street scenes, it's even brighter than lighter than the branch near Warren Street station, definitely the best cafe in this side of the town.
The flatwhite I ordered was as good as any other TAP branch while the staff were friendly and gentle, totally my kind of place to spend a relaxing afternoon.
Quite a good selection of cakes and in the morning there’s porridge with toppings of your choice. Good coffee. But the best is really the view through the big shop windows onto Russell Square. Just green and soothing. You could forget you’re in Central London. The minimalist bare concrete interior doesn’t distract. Worth a visit
Astute streamlined and stage-crafted for dispassionately professional and low-maintenance service. A minimalist interior provides spacious access for 'take-out' and basic bum-numbing seating for a quick nibble, cuppa and catch-up. Designed to discourage dawdlers and drifters.
The coffee cultists preferred pit-stop for a flavoursome fix.
You'd be hard-pressed to find better coffee in the local area. Recommended but disengaged.
Good coffee and nice food. Also pretty good service.
Would be useful if they had the ability to heat up some of the food though.
Good sandwiches, Great coffee, cool atmosphere and friendly staff.
Decent filter coffee and very friendly staff. The only problem is the wifi. Very unstable and unable to connect quite often.
Phenomenal shots of espresso. Consistently some of the best I’ve had in London. Extremely full-flavoured, never bitter, and rich, creamy texture.
The interior is really spacious. Almost too spacious, really. They could probably add another table or two to make it feel a bit cosier.
But really they can do whatever they want as long as they keep pulling incredible shots of espresso 😁
Great coffee and teas, also have a wide selection of sandwiches. The atmosphere is fresh and spacious, all around lovely, and staff are friendly. Note that it's signposted as Department of Coffee and Social Affairs though, not TAP (two cafes combined at this location).
Great coffee -- but only plastic cups for water
I love this place. However they started to use plastic cups for water instead of glasses. Isn't there already enough plastic? Please start using the glasses again! > 3 stars
Last time I was there, they changed the provided glass cups instead of plastic. Great, now I give you 5 stars.
Best coffee I've had in London. Amazing coffee, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Sandwiches are pretty decent too. If the weather is good try their tonic espresso. Delicious.
