Amazing fish not greasy and large portion.
I was lost b3ing from west london with no battery on my phone and the owner Kwang drew me a map to get home. He was extremely friendly and once again the food was served fresh and very friendly atmosphere. Will go back there especially for his Cod.
A hidden gem, tucked away from Balham's main high street, the Ocean Fish Bar serves some of the best fish and chips in South West London. Portions are very generous, the fish is invariably well cooked - without skin, flaky in texture, retaining its moisture inside crispy batter - and the chips are superb. Having been here numerous times, I have never had a bad experience and it is this consistency that marks the Ocean out from so many others. Attention to detail in terms of regularly changing the oil and ensuring the fish is fresh and cooked at the appropriate temperature clearly pays dividends - yes these are pretty basic things, but they are areas where so many chips shops fall down. Service is very friendly and the Chinese owner is chatty and recognizes his regulars.

I’m visiting England for my first time and I’m really impressed by the service and hospitality that this location offers. The fish tasted great and the breading was light and crisp. The chips are thickly cut and fresh. I would recommend to anyone looking for fish and chips.

Had fish and chips here. The cod was delicious! Very tender. So glad yelp was right on this one with the 4.9 star rating. Curry sauce for chips was excellent too.
The fish’s batter was not only texturally perfect, but it had taken on these beautiful but very subtle cakey, biscuity notes as it caramelized in the frying process. It was so well seasoned and provided an incredible contrast the moist cod it encased.
Ocean fish bar also offers an incredible array of side offerings, the curry sauce is especially noteworthy. So I’m very encouraged to go back and try more.
The patron I spoke to inside was a very pleasant man as well. Made me feel very welcome as a first time customer. I had explored a bit around the area but don’t plan on bringing my custom anywhere else after tasting Ocean Fish Bar’s fare.

Glad to have found a fish and chip shop that is reasonably priced in London! The portion of large chips was very generous and the batter on the haddock was beautiful, the middle was slightly overcooked for me but still delicious. Will definitely be returning and the owners seem very nice. In and out within 20 minutes which was a pleasant surprise given the current circumstances! I think they only take cash.

Really impressed by this fish and chip shop. The fish batter is thin and crispy, the chips are the right amount of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The prices are affordable too compared to many other fish and chip shops in the area which are almost 30% more expensive. Highly recommended!

Amazing proprietor who manages to chat up everyone in the neighbourhood who comes by - he says he doesn't live there but seems like he's embedded himself I'm the local social fabric! Food is great, fish well battered and fresh. Wonderful value for money too.
This is the best fish and chip shop in London. I wouldn't eat fish and chips anywhere else. I cant recommend highly enough. Excellent quality...staff is also out of the world with their hospitality
