A really great Sunday Lunch with excellent food & friendly service. I would highly recommend to put this place high on your places to visit list.
Best pub grub in the land...steak and truffle pie and cod roe crispy things are so yummy đ đ
and the place is so warm and friendly
Amazing roast. Great service (got comped for a bacon bun when it turned out there's a delay with the yorkies for the roast). Creamed leek is particularly perfect. Would gladly return and recommend.
Fab food and staff. Loved it! Sunday lunch rosast beef was to die for.
Some of the nicest food I've ever eaten. Lovely staff. Great beer.
Nice little bar, great mixture of new and old. Craft beer and classics. Great little soundtrack in the background as well, bartender Katie was epic
Visiting from Illinois & stopped in with family. Great surprise in a small town. The menu has a variety of foods to satisfy anyone. I had the fish tacos & were the best I have ever had . My husband had the fish & chips - fish was blackened to perfection. Granddaughter had the sirloin with baked potato & seasonal veggies. She ate most of it. Son- in-law had the fresh halibut & loved it. This is a gem to stop at when on way to Mt. Ranier or anywhere. They also have gourmet desserts & a new line of wines. Butterscotch pudding.
& mango cheesecake topped our meal off!
Lovely pub for a stop off beer after Columbia Rd market. Brick Lane lager lovely đđ»
Superb pub. Good beer and excellent food. Not cheap
Change of ownership & tasteful refurbishment one of the areas best pubs. Haven't tasted the food yet but having worked for Jon I would expect nothing short of spectacular. Can recommended the Guinness though!
the marksman is actually my local 'pub' / restaurant and for months we'd meaning to try the workers lunch - which it the time was: mussels, chips and a drink for ÂŁ15.
unreal value from a place which isn't super cheap. we sat outside but were pretty much the only ones in the pub, so service was super quick. got really decent sized portions of mussels and chips.
would 1000% do this again + any other workers lunch they do
Phenomenal food - would go every week if we could get a booking / afford it. Every course was excellent - partner though lamb was best she's ever tasted. The lamb bun started was my favourite. It's all good
Went for the Sunday roast. Staff were very accommodating of my dog and for people with disabilities. The rib roast was expensive but worth every penny and the level of cooking was truly exceptional. This was maybe the best roast dinner I've ever had.
They say British food is bad... Well, this one is just amazing. The chicken/mushroom pie is delicious, all the desserts are superb, the beer is... well... as good as beer normally is, and Owen; our waiter, is from another world. Cheers from Mexico man, thanks for your amazing service tonight.
Fantastic Sunday lunch and very welcoming to our two dogs too.
The whole chicken was huge and so there was a lot left for a doggie bag!
Definitely will be back!
The Sunday roast is good. The value for money doesn't quite meet the mark though. It's an expensive Sunday roast which does taste good I just don't think it's ÂŁ55 each worth it though
Had the 3 course Sunday roast.
The starter was balanced. The trout, the cucumber and the super light cream cheese/crĂšme fraiche. Really excellent!
The Sunday roast. The beef was well cooked (massive portion) but the Yorkshire pudding and the super smooth cauliflower purée was the star!
To be honest I trekked all the way for the burnt butter and honey tart. Personally the texture was too soft for me and it didnât taste of burnt butter or honey. Had high expectations. But overall still a solid meal.
Loved our Sunday lunch here. Our server, Kat, was very helpful and attentive and gave a good rundown of the menu before we ordered. All the courses we ordered were delicious - from the pickles snack to the devilled crab soup and duck liver parafait to our cod/mussels/monks beard mains. Topped off by great dessert and coffee. Only small niggle was that the playlist was very short and we heard the same song 3
times in our less than 2 hour visit. Overall a great experience and weâll definitely be back!
The Marksman, it hits the mark, man.
This is not your usual Sunday roast, heck it's not your usual pub food. This is fine dining Sunday roast where you're not going to be undoing the top button of your trousers, nevertheless it's still as satisfying and comforting as a big ol' roast at your Nan's.
The vibe whichever floor you sit on is great, with friendly and helpful staff ready and waiting.
The food itself is fresh and subtle in flavour and although you may think "is there enough?" by the end you're thinking that was just right.
I had the beef which was tender with a squash puree smoother than my bald head. My better half had the celeriac tart which was next level (she wasn't even jealous of my Yorkshire pudding, which is unusual).
I could go on, but you should just go check it out and be happy with your life choices.

â€ïž Proper pub meets posh nosh
.
The Marksman is located on Hackney Road which is on the border of Bethnal Green and Haggerston in East London. The nearest station is Hoxton which is a five minute walk away.
.
This 1865 built pub is owned by Tom Harris and Jon Rotheram who previously worked at Fergus Hendersonâs iconic Michelin starred restaurant St John in Smithfield.
.
The decor in the bar is traditional with some gorgeous mahogany panelling and mirrors. The leather sofa benches around the edges of the bar makes for a comfy stay, itâs easy to get in to the swing of it here.
Upstairs is the bright and airy dining area which was designed by an Italian designer, the dining are leads to a roof terrace which is a real bonus for the warmer months.
.
The beer line up is diverse, there are craft options from local London breweries plus beers from further a field. Now on to the posh nosh, the menu is full of mouth watering dishes which you know are going to be top notch given the the ownerâs background.
.
The atmosphere here was fantastic, there is such a local proper pub feel here. I was with my brother who loved it, he was in his element chatting to locals, playing with a dog, he really rated this boozer.
.
I was pleasantly surprised by the @marksman_pub , I was expecting a gastro that alienates the pop down the pub for a pint punter but it doesnât, it welcomes. This is a proper pub that offers a bit of posh if you want it, the decision is yours. I really enjoyed The Marksman, top pubbing!

This pus is lovely; the atmosphere is relaxing and cosy. They have a good variety of drinks, wine and beer. The food was delicious and more refined than a typical pub. The staff was very kind and friendly, definitely will go back :)
Came here for a Sunday roast with our dog recently. The roast chicken and the rump were amazing, although lacking in the accompanying sides that you would usually get with a roast⊠Service was a bit slow but it was a busy Sunday and the delicious food made up for it!
Probably one of the best roasts I had in London for a very long time.. especially the lamb (mutton) was SUPER delicious and a huge portion (have to share it between 2). Everything was lovely service was excellent food was amazing the only thing I didnât like is the fact that you are forced to choose between a 2 course or 3 course menu and the starting price is ÂŁ38 so we ended up paying more than ÂŁ54 just for a Sunday roast which I find very expensive!
This was the most fun, memorable meal we have had in years. Aside from the sirloin roast with Yorkshire pudding, which was to die for, Olga turned the night from great to unforgettable. She was so kind and patient, and it was a joy to speak with her all night. An important reminder that food can make a good restaurant, but it's human beings that make amazing restaurants.
the potatoes and the pie were both quite underseasoned, for ÂŁ50 (pie for 2) I wouldâve expected it to be perfect. Definitely wouldnât say it was worth the price. The staff were extremely attentive and the atmosphere was great however!
