I’m beginning to appreciate much more the different Turkish restaurants down my stretch of Green Lanes than ever before. In the beginning there was only Adana who got my business as well their grilled meats are second to none on the road, but the other restaurants all have their little bits of heaven. Canli Balik I hadn’t eaten at since a drunken night a year or so ago and had a wrap of some sort and even in my drunken state I was not impressed. But a year later and an open mind and willing to give any place a second try, as well my taste buds are pretty fucked up after a few bevies. So off we popped down the road to Canli Balik, with a warm welcome we took a seat at the back of the restaurant. The restaurant has some of the most interesting décor I’ve seen in a long while. The best Turkish restaurant in London offering home made Akcaabat köfte.
I warmly recommend it to anyone looking for eating mind blowing food in London.
People there are very welcoming and friendly.
As good as in Trabzon!

Although we went there for some snacks rather than a main meal, the service was excellent even though Barış Bey was alone. The products were very fresh and delicious. We plan to try their live music nights and main courses in the near future.

Where could you walk into a restaurant, ask what fish is on the menu today, and be told it's so fresh that the owner is still prepping it for the display fridge? Sariyer Balik is where. No need to even look at the menu. Complimentary meze while waiting for our shared plate of mackerel and the best red mullet ever! Turkish rosé on a par with French counterpart without the huge price mark-up (declined the raki but each to their own! 😄)

Been my go to fish restaurant since young. Mine & my family’s favourite, various options of hot & cold starters. Excellent service, always ! Can’t recommend this place enough 😍.

The owner Barish is also the chef and cooks fantastic sea bass with butter and tomato. The best sea bass I ever had. Amazing thick Turkish coffee. For dessert: The sweetest melon ever.
