We made our third visit to The George on 11th September for a mid afternoon Sunday bite. Knowing that the portion sizes are generous we decided to share the Ploughman's along with a scotch egg and some onion rings on the side. I've had the onion rings before and they did not disappoint. I'm very fussy about onion rings and these are the real deal with a wonderfully light and crisp batter surrounding perfectly cooked rings of real onion. The scotch egg was delicious also, the casing was nicely seasoned and still with a runniness in the interior - I'd certainly have again. Finally, the Ploughman's itself. My husband has had the ham before (ham egg & chips) and its the same lovely quality generous slices that come with the Ploughman's along with some sharp tangy cheddar, add in apples, grapes pickles and two nice chutneys (not sure if they were home made, but they were certainly tasty!) and between us we had quite a feast. I think the only negative, and its not really a negative, is that I expected the bread that came with it to be more rustic. I'm really pleased to have a pub with good food of consistent quality on the island - hold on to your chef, George! Go while its still warm to enjoy the lovely beer garden, and if you go when its cooler take a Sunday paper to peruse in the conservatory over a long lunch. We spotted some supersized Yorkshire puddings on another table too so we might even give the Sunday roast a try sometime. We'll be back.

My favourite pub in England. Zero pretension. Nice people on both sides of the bar. Good food. Good atmosphere. Kid-friendly. Great access on the DLR. The very best of London. A local’s local.

Went there recently on a Sunday for a lovely roast as it was a celebration for my birthday. Being heavily pregnant I didn’t want to go far. I have lived on the island now for over 10 years and this was our first visit. I have to say that’s been our loss as we all had a lovely time. The staff were great, the service was brilliant (nothing was a problem) and the food was beautiful ( and I’m a very fussy eater). I could have done with more of the roast potatoes but that’s me, I like a lot of them so I just asked for more which was easily sorted out. We as a family will absolutely be returning. Highly recommend.

Great pub with lots of rooms with plenty of tables, they also have a beer garden with covered areas which gets plenty of sunlight in the summer! Plenty of event being run weekly from sports, pub quizzes and live music. They also have a set lunch menu which is great value and tastes great.

Nice beers, but the best part about this pub is the beer garden tucked away at the back. Great place to relax and enjoy your pint amongst the surrounding high-rise buildings.

Traditional local pub in nice location near DLR station and ASDA JUST 2mins away. Weekends buzzing with pint and sports. All good

If you looking for a old pub feel take a visit to The George. There is also a portion of the pub which is fully glass and has an outside bistro feel to it. I tried the turkey and pork Sunday roast which was delicious, especially the roasties, veggies and gravy. Pork was a little dry but turkey and pork stuffing was very flavorful!

Great pub, perfect for a relaxing catch up. I had cauliflower cheese & sweet potato fries and both were excellent, much better than expected. The falafel was a bit of a let-down in comparison, small portion for the high(er) price. But the cauliflower cheese was more than good enough to make up for it.

Really nice atmosphere. Sunday roast is really nice just could do with some stuffing and a spot more gravy. Great price though and great service. Will definitely return.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to the staff. I visited a week ago and my friend and i are very picky eaters. The staff catered to our every need without hesitation and always with a smile. The hunters chicken was probably the best ive ever had. And my friend enjoyed hers too. Food was on point , drinks were always quick and relatively priced and service was amazing. Cant say anymore , thank you!

We visited for a Sunday lunch, the atmosphere is chilled out and their personnel are very kind, we will likely be back again. They have a lovely veranda and garden, loads of space! Giving 4 stars cause the food is not bad but also not exceptional, and they didn't have a lot of the dishes on the menu.
