Arguably the best Sushi in London. I've tried most and nothing comes close. I highly recommend the Prawn Tempura Temaki.
Would love them to extend their delivery radius to NW7.
Such a great place for a quick turn around sushi / sashimi. Sit at the kitchen bar to watch the team work their magic. Good for sushi / sashimi combo. Their agedashi tofu is also delish.
Good and fresh but the fish should be less cold when served, stay away from the ramen soup the noodles taste like instant noodles
Could not live without it!!
Taro has become one of my main cravings these days, and not only because it is close to my home. In fact, I have gone to this sushi restaurant so many times that I need a break to make sure I don’t tire of it. It is a small, simple Japanese place located on the busy Finchley Road. People certainly don't come to Taro because of its charming location or for the hip décor, but simply for the good sushi. It is crowded every night of the week, so reservations are recommended. My usual order is the Salmon Avocado Maki, Scallop Nigiri and Nasu Dengaku, which is fried aubergine with miso sauce. The Prawn Tempura is also one of my favorites, and comes with little flakes of some unidentified crispy substance on top. Everything at Taro tastes very fresh and homemade. The sushi pieces aren’t perfectly rolled or presented, but that only adds to the feeling of this being home cooked sushi. The fish comes fresh from the local market, and the scallops are truly amazing. My friend once tried to ex
This place deserves more love.
The food is so good, and the price is incredibly reasonable for London considering the quality of fish they have for their sushi and sashimi.
Please give this place a second thought.
The inside is cute and classic, very comfortable and homely. The server is so sweet and you can tell he wants to be helpful.
I’ve gotten take away with them and decided to sit down as well, and I am having a wonderful afternoon with a cheeky beer. It may come off as incredibly silly, but it’s this place and meal that made me forget my worries of the week, today.
(Also discovered my love of sesame seed ice cream here).
After our regular Chinese restaurant in Finchley Road closed down, my group of 4-5 friends began the search for a new spot for our weekly Wednesday get-togethers. Among the many options available, we settled on Taro because they were willing to accommodate us even after 10 pm.
During our two visits, we decided to skip the sushi and opted for the main dishes instead. We tried the Chicken Ramen, Seafood Yakisoba, Chicken Katsu Curry, and Tempura Soba, and were not disappointed. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable.
We were pleasantly surprised by the speedy service at Taro. Our food arrived quickly, and the staff was attentive to our needs. In terms of taste, we all agreed that the dishes were fantastic. Even those among us who claimed to be knowledgeable about Japanese food had only good things to say about Taro.
All in all, we were very pleased with our experience at Taro and will definitely be returning. It was refreshing to find a restaurant that offered such quality food and service at a reasonable price.
We were looking for somewhere to eat and they had space for us. Service was quick. Had a good selection of sushi to choose from and main Japanese dishes like ramen and katsu curry. It wasn't too expensive either.
Loved loved loved the menu & the flavours of Taro Sushi & Japanese restaurant , Finchley Road .
We enjoyed Everything we ordered from crab stick & tobiko rolls to beef Bibimbaap
My fav was the tuna salad, beef Bibimbaap the steamed vegetable dimsum ( unbelievably yummy) . the prawn and vegetable tempura were also very tasty but it lacked seasoning..
I highly recommend going and eating there
They are also on Deliveroo .. but I recommend dining in
Service was quick & the waiting staff were very helpful.
A cozy place to enjoy Asian cuisine. Ordered beef bento set and tempura sushi.
Ordered a couple of hand rolls and some nigiri and wasn't disappointed. The sushi is delicious and made with care and attention to detail. I'll be a regular from now on!
We ordered both the prawn tempera set and the sashimi set for lunch and they were soooo good.
Didn't have a photo for the latter because we dug in too quickly. 😋
Fantastic Japanese joint, with great service and great food. They also have a beef bibimbap, which my kids love.
We are regular visitors to Taro.
Beautiful and fresh sashimi! I'm amazed everytime I order from here. One of my go-to sushi places in London. Love it!
Our favourite local, family-run Japanese. The Sushi meal is excellent value for money (2 starters, grilled chicken skewers, sushi platter, miso soup, ice cream) and the quality of the food is consistently high.
Really great value and delicious food. The hot rice bowls were really impressive. There was plenty to choose from too. We went quite early in the evening and the restaurant was quite, service was good but the chef seemed to be in a very bad mood and was having a go at the staff. Not off-putting, just a bit odd.
Came with a friend here on a Friday night at 9pm, we were the only diners but a busy delivery service. Hadn't been here for few years and we weren't let down. Food was excellent, looked as good as tastes...will be back! 👍🙂
Very warm atmosphere. Food was delicious and I really enjoyed the hot sake 😁 Grest Japanese food
I have been customer for nearly 9 years and every time I order or dine in it is a very pleasurable experience. Thank you!
It's small and doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food is amazing, service is quick and prices are surprisingly reasonable. Would definitely recommend.
Very yummy sushi bento! Very fresh sashimi! Highly recommend it!
