Only things I don’t like of this pub is the tap of the hot water. Hell I got burned my hand twice. It’s annoying 🤬
Lovely place great location with good food and atmosphere x
The Guinness was great! The crisps were great! The company was even better! ;-)

Quiet and comfortable, late afternoon on a Friday. Bar staff member was friendly and helpful.
Good english pub with a good variety of dishies. Very good fish and ships and hamgurgers. The room decoration isn't the strong argument of this pub. The stuff is very nice.
The Hoop and Toy offer up some very nice, standard pub food. It's got a good location and is just a quick walk from South Kensington Station. The atmosphere is fun and friendly and it is definitely worth popping in.
What impresses me most about the Hoop and Toy is how warm and friendly their staff are: service really is with a smile.
Their function room downstairs is worth looking into if you're planning a work party or something similar. It has its own bar and they keep it well staffed. Overall, I would thoroughly recommend the Hoop and Toy for casual drinks or for use of their function room.
We visited this typical British pub while returning from the National History Museum. Although we didn't have any information about the bar before, we were attracted from the street as we wanted to go into some traditional pubs during our stay in London. I must admit that we haven't made a mistake. The atmosphere inside was brilliant as the pub was crowded with people watching english women football time at the Wolrd cup semi-final. Never thought that cheering can be so intensive during a women's football match, but this is England :) Wish and chips were good (although for me it's not a special dish) in the traditional way and there were plenty of beers offered.
This pub gave a really nice experience when popping in for something quick to eat. The staff here were nice and the food was cooked and served very quickly - with great quality!
The only thing is the place is quite small, we had to sit down on a very small table. I imagine this place gets very rowdy on a Saturday!
Stopped in for lunch. Had the traditional roast.
The roast, although a little done than I usually like, was very good. The warm cabbage was very nice as well. Found the carrots to be a bit dry. The Yorkshire was quite underwhelming.
The service was very very good. Food came quickly.
🚇 South Kensington
🍺 £6.70 Estrella
❤️ A South Ken tourist hotspot.
.
Located in South Kensington near the National History and Victoria & Albert museums, you will find The Hoop & Toy. The nearest tube is South Kensington which is just around the corner.
.
This pub was established as the Grapes in around 1515 and renamed the Hoop & Toy in 1784. The current building dates back to just after World War II following damage from bombing raids by the Nazis. This pub is said to be one of the most haunted in London. When the nearby tube station was being built, workers accidentally unearthed the pub’s cellar which was found to contain the bound bodies of several dead priests. It’s said they woke these souls and since that fateful day, phantom priests have been spotted around the pub.
.
The decor here is traditional and is dressed in the usual Greene King fixtures and fittings. The bar is a good size and there is plenty of seating to rest your laurels. Around the walls are a few screens which show live sports on BT & Sky.
.
The beer line up was full of familiar keg favourites, there were also some craft and cask options too. I decided on a pint of Estrella, my pint was great but price point was the most I’ve paid for a pint Estrella, not so great. The food menu is traditional pub grub, Fish & Chips costs £15.95.
.
I visited around 1pm on a Sunday lunchtime, on arrival the pub was absolutely packed to the rafters. I didn’t have to wait too long to be served and the service was good. Not long after I was served a long queue formed leading back to the entrance to the pub, this is a busy pub. The majority of punters were tourists who’d been exploring the area and visiting the museums close by.
.
There is a lot of history and intrigue associated to the @hoopandtoy but it was difficult to soak it in due to the touristy nature of the pub.

The pub is very close by several museums around. It looks like a typical British pub and the food was delicious. We had small plates as nibbles.😋 Staffs were friendly, especially Miguel!👍👍👍He was very attentive and always had a smile on his face. If I ever go back, it will be because of this friendly and helpful staff.
I won’t lie we spend a lot of time here, but once you visit you’ll know why. Such a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff n the cocktails! Will come again n again for sure 🥂
I visited the bar with my friends this weekend. even after being in such a busy place, the staff was giving their best. Customer service was on top at that time! Really impressed by the team members!
Stopped in for a drink before we headed back home from a busy day of exploring the city. Highly recommend the pint of Camden Hells. Great atmosphere and a great traditional feel to the place. Heard someone following me closely up the stairs to the toilet but no one there. Felt someone touch my neck on the way back but no one there...then i googled the pub to make sure the pint hadn't gone to my head and didn't imagine it, to learn that I'm probably not the first.
Very cosy .
Good food, and good selection of craft beer and cider.
I have been to many restaurants since i came in UK. Among all them this is one of the best restaurants. Their food quality is excellent and tastes amazing. I strongly recommend this restaurant for food lovers.
Stopped by for a quick lunch with my kids before heading to the Natural History Museum. Great atmosphere in a typical English style pub. Although it was busy we received a great service. We were welcomed and escorted to our table by a friendly guy whom explains us how to order from the bar. I had the gluten free pitta with hummus and my kids had the cod goujons with chips. Everything was freshly made and we enjoyed every bit of it. We'll be returning to the Hoop & Toy very soon! Thank you for the amazing service.
We had a nice lunch here with my family. The place is nice, friendly people, good food on reasonable prices - just a few steps away from the Natural History Museum
The food was good & The staff were friendly.
We had a little problem with my meal, but the lovely people who work here sorted it out promptly and were so so helpful. Excellent price, food tasted lovely. They have gluten free options and the everyone was so lovely and friendly. Excellent atmosphere. Really nice place and I couldn't recommend this place more
Such a traditonal british pub! We tried the popular pie and we loved it! It is a big portion, though🍻
