Just want to say a great big thank you to the staff who looked after us yesterday at lunch. We had 12 adults twin toddlers, a one year old a three year old and a week old baby in the party. Three generations of family! The food was amazing and faultless and the staff so friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to come back and make that mess all over again!!! Merry Christmas x
Tipically english Gastro pub, very well done, great tipical dish I really enjoy my time today
Lovely pub with great food, friendly staff and a beautiful garden with little heated huts.
Perfect family gastropub! Easy parking, loads of seating, great staff and the best food- big thumbs up!!
We had a beautiful and tasty lunch in very cosy restaurant surroundings. The four of us chose across the menu and everything was glorious. This included choices from the kids’ menu. The waitresses were helpful and attentive. We will be back!
Located at the top of Sydenham Hill and only a stone's throw away from the Sydenham Hill Wood, the Woodhouse feels like it is something out of a fairytale. Like Hansel and Gretel stumbled across that magical gingerbread house, here I was after a trek around the city forest, in the middle of suburbia, setting foot into this wicked refurbished pub which genuinely felt like a home away from home.
The atmosphere here is warm and welcoming with a buzz that comes with being an extremely family-friendly destination. And the food is nothing to forget either.
The menu is split into two being the restaurant menu of more refined dishes, and the bar menu which offers the standard burgers, sausage and mash, fish and chips etc. Today we opted for the informality of the pub menu with an order of the ale battered cod with triple cooked chips & mushy peas and the falafel burger with fries.
As with any pub meal, you tamper expectations but the food here was genuinely very enjoyable. The falafel burger, though not particularly appetising to the eye, was more importantly appetising to the palate and even a carnivore such as myself had to go back for a few more bites. However, the fish and chips were the showstopper on this day; a generous piece of cod with the crunchiest of batters only surpassed by the accompanying potato. On my return, I will be getting this again.
The peculiar thing about the Woodhouse is that, for all its look and feel as an independent, it's actually a Young's establishment, giving hope that a pub doesn't need to sell its soul to benefit from being part of a chain. Check it out.

Nice treat after a dog walk or bike ride! A traditional pub worth stopping by. I’d suggest booking on a Sunday; it gets busy!
Parts of the indoor space are dog friendly.
The staff are nice and the selection of food and drink are good, albeit in the pricey side.
This was an Oct visit so sitting outside on a warm day is wonderful.
The wood house is absolutely amazing! I’ve had both my baby shower and baby’s first birthday there and they were brilliant. Very accommodating and the space is great for venues. The food is tasty too so definitely a great recommendation for parties and casual dining. Can’t thank management enough for their hospitality!
First time visited here.
Service was excellent and pleasant. Staff were very accommodating to our needs.
The food was lovely. We had stater and main, The fish and chips was nice and fresh, the chicken wings was nicely cooked, The only downfall.
The oil that cooked the food was stale it made me sick. Maybe change the oil a bit more frequent.
Other than that the place is lovely.
Would highly recommend this place.
Went to my friend's local pub/restaurant. Well located in between Sydenham and Crystal Palace. It was a very busy day, but apparently Sunday is their busiest day in general and the weather was also quite nice. There is seating is the Gazebo, main part of the dining restaurant and outside.
It took us a while to get seated as we hadn't booked, but then we were told there was seating in the gazebo, only to then be told where we were sat had bookings, we moved to about 6 different tables. We finally sat and decided on sitting in the main dining area. Service flowed after that. Food was good, portions were really decent too, felt like it was worth the money. They did serve burnt buns on our burgers for some reason, but requested to get new ones. They did apologise for this too.
The reception is terrible in Crystal palace in general, so it's definitely a WiFi situation there.
I didn't like that the waiters and waitresses were petting dogs and then went to handle food/ glasses. It's not hygienic and quite off putting, food and animals don't mix. Petting of dogs is one thing, but washing hands and sanitising is also necessary when handling food.
I'm guessing it may have been because they were very busy, but the toilets could have been given some attention they were quite unpleasant.
Really nice place to eat and very family friendly also.
Parking is free. (On Sundays)
I have my 50th birthday booked for the end of August, l popped in yesterday to see where we will be seated (30 people) and the staff were lovely and showed me where we will be seated.. had a cheeky burger, which was lovely.. I've been many times before and I must say, their sunday roast is brilliant, my mum who is in her 70's is a hard woman to please, and she loved it too!! Lovely pub, nice decor and lovely staff!
A very large and busy pub which has a huge beer garden. The pub is much loved by families and dog walkers and can be heaving on a Sunday lunchtime so would recommend booking ahead. There’s an outdoor bar in the garden and a special burger menu. The roast dinners are excellent with generous portions. The kids menu is excellent and very good value. Recommended for families.
Myself and my partner had our engagement party here recently and we couldn't of asked for a better day!
Boyd and the team hired out their beer garden tent to us which is such a beautiful space to host a big celebration of any kind. The way they setup the tent had so much thought and consideration throughout. Everything ran smoothly and the food was delicious, defo order the sliders as they were a real hit!
This is a great local pub that is super friendly and accessible to all so we'd recommend this to anyone.
Thanks again Boyd and team!
It's a large but welcoming unpretentious pub and restaurant. My cousin recommended this place to me. We had a selection of starters as well as cocktails and some wine. The starters were all delicious and generous portions. The mussels in white wine, smoked anchovies with chunky sourdough slices, also the buffalo chicken wings. I think they were short staffed (cold and flu season) but we received exceptional service from Sebastian. He said he enjoyed seeing my cousin and I having fun. It's true, we were the last ones to leave the restaurant! Have also had the opportunity to use the outdoor space in the summer, which was really lovely. Definitely will go back again. Keep it up.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Wood House pub in Dulwich, and have to say it was an exceptional experience. What truly stood out was the outstanding service provided by Anna.
From the moment we walked in, Anna greeted us with a warm and welcoming smile. Her attentiveness and knowledge of the menu were impressive, as she guided us through the various options and made excellent recommendations.
Of course, the drinks were also outstanding, with fantastic selection of beverages. The Wood House pub knows how to deliver a memorable experience.
With Anna's exceptional service and the overall excellence of the establishment, I can confidently say that this pub deserves every one of its five stars. I'll be returning soon, looking forward to more wonderful moments at the Wood House.
I've been to th Wood House a few times now and the food is always delicious. This time we had a roast, fish and a pie and they were all excellent and very good portion sizes. The day we went was a Sunday and they were busy. A few of the servers seemed quite new and it took some time to get their attention. We had drinks and food from another table delivered to us and we had to remind them it wasn't our order. Could have been because they were busy. But overall it was a lovely experience.
First time here on a whim & will now be regular returning customers.
Service is super friendly and it is the best vegan breakfast we have ever had!
Cannot wait to return!!
The food was really tasty. Not cheap, but tasty. It was a sunny autumn day and when we arrived it seemed like lots of people were sat outside so that might explain why the service was so slow. We were sat inside and, for a Sunday afternoon, the music was far too loud and the 90s dance hits (as great as they were) seemed incongruous with the surroundings.
The staff are warmth , make you feel you are their friends and family . Lovely food, good atmosphere in both indoor and outdoor seating.
I visited here on my trip to London and had lunch with my daughter and the food was incredible. We were looked after by such a lovely lady who had a young son and she was so lovely with my 2 year old. Nothing was too much and I wished we lived closer as it would be our regular! Thank you Anna! Would definitely recommend 👌
Visited Saturday evening for a bite to eat. We found somewhere to sit in the garden. Jessica looked after us and took our order and brought over our drinks. The food was amazing and didn't have to wait too long considering the garden was quite busy. Will definitely be returning.
There is a huge outside area with heat lamps which make it cosy but spacious for families especially! I have been here a few times and everyone I go with enjoys the food. They are sometimes quite obviously short staffed. But the staff are always really lovely.
This is our favourite Pub to have a Sunday roast. The food is yummy and there is plenty of it. They have dog friendly areas, which are great for us as we have a small dog.
