Well, it's a Wetherspoons. So you get standard fare - fish and chips for us the time we went - plus a drink for a very good price. The food was well cooked and served fairly quickly but no feel of a ping of the microwave. One thing I will say about the Toll Gate - I find they always, always have loads of ales on tap, many that you've never heard of - more so than the Spouter's Corner in Wood Green. Always at great value too. The pub itself doesn't look too impressive from the outside but give it a go. Comfortable inside and great value, diverse choice of beer.
Really good wetherspoons. Rough and ready maybe, but always a good selection of well kept real ales. Service is really good for a wetherspoons probably down to the manager, James who knows what he's doing.
If ever in the Wood Green, London area, be sure to stop by. We were in North London for just a couple of days and The Toll Gate was within walking distance. Jordan and his crew were really friendly, they made us feel so welcomed. The beer was excellent too! My husband had some "Proper" English beer and I had some delicious apple cider. Highly recommended this place
