One of the nicest pubs in Highgate village - went here on a Sunday and it was a nice cosy atmosphere. The roast dinners looked lovely but opted for fish and chips which did the trick. Nice Gastro pub so you do pay a little more.
Handsome pub. We ordered some small dishes, and I was surprised by how good the food was. I had chargrilled smoked chicken wings with ginger ale ketchup and a side salad of watercress and parmesan.
Chicken wings with grill marks were lovely, with just a little drizzle of the sweet sauce. At first I thought pricing was a bit steep for 5 wings, according to the menu. But each wing was complete with both a flat and drummette so it was actually a really good portion for £5.50.
Care had been taken with the side salad. Watercress, thick shavings of parmesan, dressed in good quality balsamico (thick and unctuous) instead of vinaigrette. Light and refreshing.
My companion was less pleased with his order of vegetable croquettes. They were tasty, but did not arrive piping hot.
Went to the Angel this evening as it has become my preferred local. All staff are so friendly and the atmosphere is ideal…. you can hear yourselves talk!
The food served at the tables has always been very good love their sausage and mash. This evening sampled their new line in take out fish and chips I believe available until almost closing time but correct me if I am wrong.
Very well thought out and nicely packaged, mostly recyclable , little pots of tartar, ketchup, mayonnaise, vinegar and mushy peas.
Opening the box to see a good size piece of cod, lightly battered and a decent portion of chips as well. Thoroughly enjoyed after a few pints and a refreshing change from the normal go to of pizza burger or KFC. Well done the Angel keep it up. Give it a try. V
Have been there twice now with large family groups of 10 or so friends and family. One night was quiz night (very fun!) and both times the food and service were excellent. The food is high quality British pub food, with modern choices and everything very fresh. The fish and chips were excellent (per my sister in law) and the chickpea/broccoli/chicken salad I had was wonderful, as were the desserts. The kids enjoyed themselves as well. We will definitely go back soon.
We hosted a surprise birthday party at the Angel Inn and we couldn't have asked for a better venue!
Rachel & Nikos were very accommodating and helped plan a wonderful event. They responded quickly to any questions & were a big part of ensuring things ran smoothly on the day.
The bar snacks were delicious and loved by all the guests. The staff were very attentive & looked after us all night.
Thank you so much to everyone at the Angel Inn! I would definitely recommend this venue.
It was wonderful to drop in after a long walk. The selection of beers is excellent - I tried two different ones (try = pint), and my three companions another three. But what makes me writing this is the excellent, friendly yet professional service by the bar staff. It was just uplifting
Lovely pub with cute fireplace🔥
I love when in pubs there is a healthy option dish (for us girls 😂) and amazingly here they had noutish bowl! I went with steak filled add on (lowest in calories) and it was super tasty! The cheakpeas and tenderstean brocolli went very well with all otter healthy ingredientsin the bowl❤️
We also shared scallops, super nice, temder amd fresh !
Lovely service, and a bit fancier than a usual pub. Great food also.
Popped in for a quick midweek dinner.
Lovely pub with friendly staff in the middle of Highgate. The decor is nice and makes you feel comfortable. It's also dog friendly and there were a couple of people inside with their pets. We liked that.
My wife and an Aspal Cider, and Fortunately for me they stocked gluten free Peroni.
Mains was Sea-bass with potatoes and veg, while my wife had the roasted pork belly. We shared a cheesy fries with gravy. All three meals were delicious and you can see effort is put into every meal. I recommend getting a side order if you are a big eater like me, as the portions are a fair size, but I need that bit extra.
For desert we had a sticky toffee pudding and a coffee. I enjoyed that it was large cup of coffee with the milk on the side, rather than the smaller "cooler" cups that are generally served.
All in it was a great dinner out, good staff, good food, good little pub. We will return.
We walked here for dinner and loved it. Very professional service by the barkeeper, a lovely jazz band playing in the background, immaculately clean and an utterly adorable atmosphere. Not to mention the food was perfect. Four nights of pub food in London, and this was by far the best.
Traditional English pub in the heart of Highgate.( We appreciated the refurnishment though) Classic menu, but tasty. Delicious tartar sauce and dessert! Lovely staff too.
Fantastic Sunday roast - very long wait on the meat but the staff more than made up for it by giving us the lunch for free! Will definitely come back.
