Japanika is 95% takeaway. It's decently priced and, well, decent. Don't ask them to make you something you saw earlier on the shelves though. Cuz they won't. I'm moblogging from my couch at the moment. Maybe I'll come back and expand on this post later. M

So small, compact and tasty! This place is just around the corner of the main street between Brick Lane and Spitalfields. Perfect spot for fresh, genuine Japanese pick-me-ups. Service was efficient and the sushi rice was fresh and the tempura prawn very tasty. Will be stopping by for a cheeky Friday lunch again soon! Thanks

Decent Japanese takeaway shop. Tried the Spicy Squid Udon Noodles. The serving size was good and the broth was tasty. Good amount of vegetables and squid. Management is not Japanese so don't expect it to be authentic but it was a decent fast meal and reasonably priced.

I have been using Japanika for 11 years now and I still look forward to eating there delicious food. There food is authentic freshly cooked/prepared the portions are very good and the food is very tasty. I have probably tried everything on the menu but I always go back for the katsu curry.. it is very good.. go for it if you are hungry you won't be disappointed.. i shall keep going back.. and I have to mention that the staff are very friendly and helpful 10/10

Great food and I think good pricing for London. Would have given it a 5 but my experience of paying wasn't good. A very sullen experience from the bored woman on the till who would rather argue with her colleague, no hello or interaction in any way shape or form and stuck my (delicious) food in a bag at an angle so the sauce has gone everywhere. Shame.

Superb dishes, great Japanese whisky selection and good views. Can get very (too) busy in the evenings, lots of city tourists and a loud atmosphere. I prefer their Covent Garden restaurant however SS city is still great.

Great takeaway joint, good (not healthy but delicious) Japanese staples. Katsu curry is a standout

Found this place by accident 8 years ago and has been a regular staple since. One of the best Sushi takeaways in the city hands down. Love the food, thanks Team Japanika Awesome

I don't understand anyone who could say that Japanika was expensive. Where do you eat your sushi? For this quality? I have tried many Japanese places in London, in different price ranges. This one tastes great, but prices are super low due to a relatively quiet location. Girls on the checkout are very sweet.

I'm a huge sushi fan and this is my go-to lunch spot for fresh, tasty and reasonably priced Japanese food. Portions are nice and big and there's a good selection of hot and cold food available. Firm favourites are the Chicken Katsu Curry and Prawn Katsu Rolls. Pickles, ginger and soy sauce are on the house and service is always speedy. There are few seats available for those who want to sit in and watch East London's finest wander between Spitalfields market and Brick Lane.

I have been going to Japanika for what is almost five years now and I can do nothing but praise both the quality of food and the friendliness of the staff too. If I could give them a 6 star rating I would! P.S - You gotta try the Katsu Curry!

The sushi quality is exceptionally good for a sushi takeaway joint. By far the best sushi takeaway in East London.

This is my favourite sushi place for a takeaway lunch. The fish is much fresher, and the sushi is much better made than the ones served at Itsu and Wasabi. Itsu and Wasabi pack their sushi roles too tightly, giving the sushi a rubbery and chewy texture. But this is never the case at Japanika! They also don’t charge you extra for soy sauce, wasabi or the delicious spicy mayo. I love the churchy salmon roll with little green caviar surrounding the rice. I highly recommend this place.

Nice selection of goods in a small space. The sushi is a bit expensive though.

I’ve been to Japanika countless times. A chicken katsu curry for under a £10 and it’s one of the best in town!
