I took my fiancée here for a Valentine’s Day Afternoon Tea and it was the best afternoon tea we’ve ever been to. There wasn’t a single bit of food we disliked. The sandwiches and cakes were all nice with the chocolate mint cake being my favourite piece. I could’ve carried on eating more sandwich slices that were offered to us they were that good. The celestine tea was very nice as well and I’m not even a big lover of tea. We were served by a waiter called Christian who was very well knowledgable about the entire menu. He even arranged for us to have our table a little bit longer than we were meant to so that we could finish eating our food. It was definitely an experience with a piano playing as we dined and the style of the place was definitely unusual but in a good way. It’s also an award winning afternoon tea so I highly recommend anyone who wants to go with their partner, family or friends to come here. I guarantee you won’t regret it.

Thank you so much for the delicious afternoon tea today. The service was impeccable - our waiting staff were friendly and extremely helpful. It was great that you didn't mind an extra guest joining us just for a cuppa half way through and he especially appreciated the fabulous piano playing. We were the last to leave so hope we weren't holding you up! The room is stunning and the food exquisite and plentiful. How lovely to be given fresh pots of tea just because they'd gone cold, without us having to ask. Definitely a 5☆ tea and straight into our top 3 favourites!

Afternoon tea experience is the best in London. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Our server Jozef personable and attentive. Excellent selection of teas and food. Sandwiches are velvety because they are fresh and made a la minute, sweets are of colourful variety of flavors and scones come out warmed out. Everything in Oscar Wilde Room is memorable!

Had a bit of a bad experience the service and staff and surroundings are lovely. We have been many times b4. Unfortunately my wife ordered the duck. When it came it was too tough to cut. Also for some reason in these high class restaurants they don't seem to cast much importance to the food being red hot. It always arrives warm as though its been messed about with and piled up for too long. It really needs to be piping hot including the plates. Food goes cool quick enough without only being warm to start with. It will not stop me going again. But the tenderness of meat and temperature of food should be closely monitored. Address this and you will be nearly on the way to the standard of the Ritz where we dine regularly.

Fabulous place. We have been a few times and the food is always excellent. We went yesterday with my 2 year old grandson and the staff were charming. Really looked after us, especially the Greek lady ( sorry didn’t get your name) she was so good with my grandson. Thank you so much to everyone. We will be back

I wish I could give this place 10 stars! The entire staff was so kind & patient, the food was delicious, and the room was gorgeous! We could have stayed there all afternoon. We appreciated the wide variety of teas and the pairing recommendations made by our waiter for what tea would taste best with each tower (first tower sandwiches and the second tower dessert). The sandwiches were so yummy- our top favorites were the salmon and the beef. They also offer a vegetarian tower too! We truly enjoyed the experience, and I wish we lived closer to come back and enjoy their holiday menu they are rolling out soon!

Embarking on the afternoon tea journey at Cafe Royal is akin to stepping back in time, enveloped in an ambiance of sophistication and elegance. The establishment’s attention to detail shines through, creating a memorable setting that pairs perfectly with this time-honoured tradition. The service staff excelled in their roles, striking a commendable balance between professionalism and warmth, ensuring that every aspect of the tea session flowed seamlessly. However, while the carnivore selection of sandwiches was indeed flavourful, they bordered on the rich side. Similarly, the vegetarian options presented a mixed bag. Apart from the tofu, which stood out for its taste and texture, the other offerings lacked the expected zest and palatability. A notable area of improvement was the seating. The chairs, though undoubtedly stylish, posed challenges for taller patrons, leading to potential discomfort over prolonged periods. On the topic of pricing, the £70 per person tag felt slightly on the higher side. Given the overall quality and experience, a more balanced pricing would enhance the value proposition for guests. In conclusion, Cafe Royal’s afternoon tea offers a mostly delightful experience, with room for improvement in certain areas. With a few tweaks, it could very well set the gold standard for afternoon teas in London.

Had a lovely afternoon tea at Cafe' Royal. The service was excellent and the staff were very gracious & accommodating. It has of course the feel of a very ostentatious place. Lovely setting and interiors which I love. Food was lovely. Not so keen on the beef/mustard sandwich. Too strong for my liking. It was a nice experience with my friends.

Amazing afternoon tea experience. The staff here are wonderful and really bring it to the next level. They have great tea options and tasty small bites brought out according to a structured 3(?) course meal. It is on the pricey side but is a wonderful thing to experience in London.

It was a lovely experience. The teas were amazing, the food served very good as well. Two things I didn’t like are, the seats, so small and the table too low, is not comfortable to eat in there. And the other is that despite the fact that the service was good, on several occasions they have taken our food without having finished it yet or come to ask if they could already take it as if they were hurrying us up.

You pay for what you get! My wife and I told ourselves that we would do afternoon tea while in London, and Café Royal did not disappoint! Their menu was very informal and walked you through every tea option. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS! I was worried that I wouldn’t get enough food, but I left feeling like my wife had to roll me out the door! Little spendy, but highly recommend for the true London experience!

What a fab experience. It's not cheap, and the food won't blow you away (no afternoon tea does that, in my opinion) but it's the most wonderful way to spend a couple of hours with some of your favourite people. The room is dimly lit and has the feeling of a refined Parisian brasserie. The service is possibly the best thing, friendly, not formal. A shout out to Muna and Naseto from the Reservations team who really went beyond to find me a slot and to accommodate my requests. Thank you all!

Exquisite interior, lovely ambiance, delectable food. It was a beautiful birthday surprise I had from my partner and I enjoyed every moment. The live piano music made everything seem so magical. We had the lovely Afternoon Tea set and we tried the many different teas offered. Being an avid tea drinker I had tasted many teas before from all around the world. The teas I had here were truly amazing. All of them so perfect in taste, smooth and pure joy. The ‘Dragonwell’ green tea was like no other. It was a pleasant taste which paired well with the foods we had. The sandwiches were beautiful taste wise and appearance as well. The bread for them was so soft and fluffy and would melt instantly. I thought that the pink sorbet to cleanse the palate in between the savoury and sweet foods was a nice touch. Desserts were beautiful and I even had a lovely ‘Happy Birthday’ plate surprise. Service was top notch and bathrooms were clean. Definitely a memorable experience and will be back again. Come here with your loved ones for a relaxed and enjoyable time.

In a world of fast-paced change, it's reassuring to visit an oasis of modernized old-world charm and peaceful calm... And when you're on holiday, it's all about experiences. This one is not to be missed... We visited The Café Royal for afternoon tea (and yes, correctly, it's Afternoon Tea, NOT High Tea) earlier this year whilst on holiday. It was a divine experience for us all from my 7-1/2 year old grandson to my daughter, her husband, and myself. Is it expensive? Well, that depends upon your pocket... You're entering a world of luxury and exquisite perfection... This is not a cheap fast-food destination for the masses. To truly enjoy the Café Royal, you need to be discerning, expect the best and appreciate that luxury comes at a price (so be prepared to pay for it). The Café Royal is unique to the historical era that created it and the owners have sympathetically renovated and maintained its rich, decorative style. It's not just the exceptional food and its exquisite presentation, it's also the attentive and polite customer service, the quiet and gilded ambience, the luxury, the gorgeous decorations and furnishings... every moment is a feast for the eyes and senses. In this context, you'll appreciate the value-for-money... It won't disappoint. And realise you'll be sharing your experience with royalty, world leaders and celebrities such as Winston Churchill, Mohammed Ali, Princess Diana, David Bowie and so many more.

What an amazing experience of Afternoon Tea! Highly recommend, such a beautiful setting with plenty of history and famous individuals who have sat on these same seats! We got to sit where Mohammad Ali once sat! Our server Katiya (unsure of spelling) and another server (from Poland!) were so warm and provided such a wonderful experience and service for us all! The food was so filling and flavorful, and got to try various teas for each part of the meal. Would 100x go again!

Went in for a birthday and they went out of their way to make it nice. Service was great. You can switch your tea as many times as you want for unlimited hot beverages. I think we almost tried them all. Definitely had a blast!

We went there for Afternoon Tea, one of the traditions that were first introduced to England during the Victorian Era. Great atmosphere with live piano and is full of history. Staffs were friendly and attentive. We were served a tier of sandwiches, cakes, scones and tea. My favourite one is smoke salmon sandwich and chocolate. Highly recommend! Just be aware of the 15% service charge will be added to the bill.

The wait staff's attention was great (especially Grace)Cant say that the dress code is enforced.I enjoyed the piano immencely, would have appreciate uninterrupted play (I mean a second shift of a player, obviously the same artist cannot play continously) A fly landed on my cake, had to have it changed
