We love the Winchester.
Food is great and delicious. Good portions. They have the 2 meals for one at lunch time, which is amazing.
Not to expensive for a pub in Central London. Near the main street, shops and tube.
Staff is lovely, nice and assertive.
The pub is roomy, so you don't have to invade the personal space of a stranger to have a meal.
Has clean toilets, which is a big plus on my list.
Good music, not to loud.
All my experiences on the pub were great.
Sunday roast here is two for £20 and is top notch.Have also been here for a drink on a Friday night and was good fun - think you have to pay £5 to get in after 9/10pm.
Love this place, from the minute I saw the name I needed to go there "for a pint and to wait for all this to blow over" yeah yeah I know, but I'm a geek what can I say. I stopped off for some lunch and had to try their trademark burger. It was a serious burger. The meat was big juicy and thick, kicking the other burgers into touch.
The decor to the place is seriously cool as well, in classic islington style there are all sorts of retro pieces of furniture and cool artwork.
I didn't try any of the cocktails as it was a little early in the day but the list did look so good that I'll make an effort to head back there for an evening.
Spent an evening here for my flatmates birthday. She hired out a space downstairs which was decorated, you can only say, like a garden shed. It was cute, a small but useable space that fitted over 20. Cocktails were well made and finger food was delicious.
Only problem I would say is that there is nothing telling others that it's a hired space.. We had quite a few wonderers who took up a table or too.. Luckily my flatmate didn't mind!
I came to the Winchester last Saturday with some friends as we needed a place to cure our hangovers. We managed to get a nice booth table, and the atmosphere was just what we needed-chilled out music and friendly, smiley staff. We had some nice (pretty spicy) bloody marys and read the paper. We ordered the Winchester Cheeseburger, and it was amazing. Huge chips, tasty burger and a big slab of cheese. We did however sink into a burger coma, and so ended up spending most of the afternoon there! This place is great for relaxing with friends-and I recommend trying the burger coma for yourself!
