Reviews The Four Sisters Bar

Best for... a date or catching up with a friend one on one.

The Four Sisters is an intimate yet unpretentious cocktail bar with high ceilings, subdued lighting, a wicked signature menu and mellow jazz which accelerates in pace as the evening advances.

I loved this place and highly recommend it! Drinks are all made using natural ingredients like home-made infusions, syrups and shrubs. I tried three things:

First up, the Geisha: a mix of vodka, champagne, elderflower liqueur, hibiscus syrup and fresh grapefruit, served with a cherry piqued in a hibiscus flower and it was utterly delicious. Exotic, flowery and fruity. Dangerous by all accounts.

Second, a Gingerbread, which was Christmas perfection in a cocktail if I ever saw one. This is the recipe which serves one: 40 ml Martel V.S Cognac, 20 ml Grand Marnier, 20 ml Lemon juice, 15 ml Gingerbread syrup. Delicious.

Finally, a twist on an Old-Fashioned: Rum instead of rye whisky, served with chocolate syrup and bitters. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better combination than chocolate and orange in my book, so I enjoyed this immensely, it was a sophisticated drink, packed full of flavour.

The Four Sisters is a five minutes walk from Highbury and Islington and fifteen minutes from Angel station and if you don’t want to splurge you will be happy to know that there is a daily Happy Hour from 4pm to 7pm with two cocktails for £10. Enjoy!

The Four Sisters is a classy and stylish establishment which serves up a selection of fun cocktails. Be sure to get there early as there is limited seating, with only two sofas at the front and a small seating area at the back. The décor has been perfectly thought out; the lights are adorned by pretty lampshades which ensure that the lighting remains low and the spirits are kept in pretty glass bottles behind the bar. You almost feel like you are tucking into a magical potion as you drink one of the beautifully presented cocktails, each of which are unique recipes and often contain flavoured spirits such as elderflower vodka.

The drinks are listed according to the spirit they contain; for example, there is a spring rum section of the menu which offers such delights as Brugal 1888 which contains Demerara sugar, menuka honey and wood smoke. I had this and the taste was delicate, subtle and delicious. You can also order one of the beautiful variations of the gin and tonic, flavoured with such delights as white grapefruit or red apple.

All in all, this place is wonderfully thought out. It is entirely independent and serves brand less and unique concoctions that are beautifully presented and well thought out. A real gem.

Its been a long time since one of my favourite bars was open, but, it still doesn't mean its not worth a review. The variety and variation of cocktails on offer here are brilliant. Service is always bang on and the experience and atmosphere are brilliant! Cant wait to go back here.

A hidden gem. We dropped in after a wonderful meal at a local Italian, in search of good cocktails. It was quiet, a Tuesday, so there was a very chilled atmosphere. The hospitality was great and I am always a fan of places that lead with a glass of water, which was diligently kept topped up all evening. So - the important stuff, the cocktails. The guys I was with loved their drinks; well priced, innovative and really well made. Sadly I was on the soft drinks, but was adequately catered for and didn't feel like a second class citizen, so often an issue with not drinking in London. All-in-all an excellent find, I'm looking forward to trying it when its busy.

Excellent cocktail bar! Looks a bit like an old school pub from the outside but it doesn’t really sell beer. I went on a Saturday afternoon and the staff were very friendly and attentive. We had a few of the mystery cocktails and they all tasted amazing! Would recommend. The bar is perhaps a bit small inside though so I assume it gets quite cramped at peak time.

Fairly trendy cocktail bar with a rather whacky selection of house cocktails, but they were all very good. Knowledgeable bar staff who also are happy to show of their skills and make drinks off-menu. Great place for cocktails post-dinner, though maybe not to spend the entire night. Will definitely visit again.

Great new find that will be a regular spot! A small secluded bar with chilled vibes and friendly staff. A particular host made us feel warm and welcome, our water glasses were constantly full - would definitely recommend for either a cute date spot or an afterwork unwind.
