Love this place and really recommend it to everyone who are homesick or for people that want to try something new. For optimum level experience, you have to ask the waiter or waitress to recommend a dish that are authentic then you won't be disappointed.

Filipino restaurants in London are a rarity, Tripadvisor website only shows a handful of the search engines. I came across Josephine’s restaurant in Charlotte Street and always wanted to try more Filipino dishes. Josephine’s Restaurant has been running in central London for over 20 years’ family run serving authentic Filipino dishes. Although it may seem like a shabby looking restaurant it does serve great Filipino food.  The restaurant was empty when I arrived and in the duration of 1 one hour, the only person they served. Filipino cuisine is an interesting mix, the Spanish invaded the islands so it has Spanish Asian influences.

I've been here a couple of times and the food is always good. It's the only Filipino I'm central London and the only Filipino I've ever had so take this with a pinch of salt. Their peanut sauce chicken is great, and their stuffed squid isn't bad. Their beef is nice too. Be sure to order some garlic rice! The price and portions are good, especially considering the location. Apparently the restaurant has been there since the mid-80s and it's currently struggling with rent going up and chains opening all around it.

Josephines is a Filipino restaurant that will often be overlooked on the bustling Charlotte Street. I've put off coming here for years despite it being  very close to me as I am Filipino and was more than ready to hate anything that wasn't home cooked.

But on one evening I had an insatiable craving for crispy pata (boiled and then fried pork knuckle) and finally gave in. The pile of meat was generous, bones left in tact, and the meat was prepared as it should be. So many different textures and flavors provided by different regions of meat, skin, and cartilage.

The Biko Bibingka (glutinous rice cake) was also better than my family would make.

So pleased to have had my expectations shattered after not going here for so long. I will surely be back to try the other Filipino classics on offer.

I honestly never thought about Filipino cuisine until the day we bumped into this little place called Josephine’s in the heart of Fitzrovia. The place clearly does not express the glamour and the fame of some of its Charlotte Street’s neighbours (Charlotte St Hotel, Roka, Fino, Bamboo, etc). We almost kept on walking, but we were looking for something different from our normal routine, so took a chance and are delighted we did!

2018 A third trip to Josephines, briliant food as usual, warm and friendly service. I've added this to my 'must do in London' list. I will be back! 2017 I had a very enjoyable meal here, sitting outside on a warm night. Perfect with a glass or two of the house rose. The service was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and different. In a street where half the eateries are chains (not bad but samey) Josephines stands out.

The best Filipino / Asian fusion resto we tried in London. Everything is authentic. Food was excellent and superb. Lechon kawali is a must try. Only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is its dated ambience and a damp smell in its premises. A dehumidifier will do wonders. If you miss Filipino food, you must visit this restaurant.

I had a great time last night. The service was attentive and polite. And the food was delicious. I had the pork sinigang, Lechon kawali, and the Laing. All the food was made to order and served hot. I'll definitely come back.

We were craving Pinoy food and we found this place. Liked the addition of sweet potato in the Bulalo(perfect for the London weather), and especially loved that the sisig came in an actual sizzling plate(most places skip that), and oof the crispy pata was 👌👌👌👌. They also had Red horse which was the cherry on top. The owners were super nice too. Would recommend.

I went with some Filipino friends who said it was authentic. I really enjoyed it myself. The staff were friendly.

One of the best pork bellies in London, crispy, juicy, fatty, tasty. I didn't like the original sauce it came with so they kindly offered me a peanut butter based sauce, which was amazing. The dish is not cheap, £15, but you get so much meat it's hard to finish it all. Super friendly staff and great location.

Overall I like this place and it is a nice change from the usual oriental style of restaurants. I normally come here a couple of times of year now. The food is consistently tasty although sometimes not quite you would expect. The wine list is rather limited so I tend to stick to the bottle lagers. The service can be a bit hit and miss sometimes, but it has always been well intentioned. Saying that, they did cope with a large group which I took there a couple of years ago and for a small restaurant such as this it can be a challenge.

Having not eaten a lot of Filipino food before I went hear completely open to a new cuisine and I have to say I was not disappointed. The food was delicious. Thick, rich sauces full of flavour. The chicken cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend.

This restaurant is truly authentic in its offering of Filipino food...and thank God for that! In the many occasions that I have dined here, I've always felt like being back home in the Philippines as the food offered and served in this restaurant is traditional and authentically Filipino. This restaurant has pioneered the Filipino cuisine in the UK and the owners should be saluted for it. Conveniently located in the heart of London, this is a great place to eat and meet up with friends.

I have been here 4 or 5 times over the past 10 years ( much not living in London thats why so seldom). I have searched for a varied and exetensive reasonably authentic Philippine menu, and frankly it barely exists in London. The variety and quality of food here is excellent. I have great respect for the host couple. They've been doing this over 20 years and the mixed reviews may be because some days they seem a bit tired. Maybe they could do with some fresh energy and capital for decor, but make no mistake they still offer great Filipino food in north edge of Soho London. Not sure if the location quite justifies the prices. I love Sinigang soup. Plan to add a few more specific recommendations after more visits.
