Best Vietnamese I’ve tried! Very authentic with super tasty vegetarian Pho
Lovely staff, modern design, generous servings and good prices!
Such tasty food, one of my favourite Vietnamese restaurants in London!
Next time in London I have to go here again!!! So nice food ❤️
First time there, well recommended. Reasonably price and also great service! Give it a try peeps!
Lovely food and a very cool atmosphere! Will definitely be back.
The best vietnamese in the neighbourhood. I love their mock duck cuz I can share it with my gf and my best buddy. they used to have a more authentic decor in the past, but this one is not too bad.
I don't normally use Viet Hoa because it is not a BYO, unlike many of their competitors on Kingsland Road. Decor is much nicer than other places on the strip. I guess I developed a prejudice against them after protests from a girlfriend who prefers the grittier atmosphere of some of the other spots. As a result I haven't been back in a while. I was impressed by their cooking tonight though.
I tried Viet Hoa again for home delivery using the dinein website. My standard order for takeaway is stir fried rice noodles with seafood. On this dish, Viet Hoa did really well. Very flavourful, with a hint of smokinessl from being wokked at a very high temperature. Sea food consisted of mussels, prawns and squid. Squid was a touch over cooked, but maybe that's just an Asian thing. I know my mom would be disappointed with being served squid which wasn't at least a little bit rubbery. Good dish, though on the cusp of being a little too sweet.
Because the seafood and noodle stir fry on its own didn't reach the minimum order to use the dinein delivery service, I also had the wokked aubergine and tofu. This was way too sweet for me. Otherwise tasty with caramelized walnuts. It would have been okay when ordered with several salty, acidic or spicy dishes within the context of a proper Asian meal, to offer a counterpoint.
Vietnamese restaurants are normally not known for their interior, however Viet Hoa offers authentic Vietnamese dishes in a modern setting, where quality isn't forfeited for looks.
Since I felt like home-cooked Vietnamese food, we mostly ordered dishes you'd find on the dinner table at Vietnamese families: Thit Kho (caramelised pork belly with egg), Wok tossed morning glory and Shackling Beef. In order to have a little bit more vegetables on the table, we also tried the Wokked Tofu & Aubergine with Yellow Bean, Pineapple and Cashew Nut Sauce, which I've never had before.
Thit Kho might not be something for everyone, especially those looking after their weight, because it's a Chinese inspired dish that is quite fatty. To me, it was one of my favourites of the evening, as it really reminded me of my Mum's cooking. The pork was tender and flavourful, a mixture of sweet and salty, and the dish was topped off with a hard-boiled egg soaked in the flavour of the pork juice. It tasted great in combination with the crunchy Morning Glory that had just the right amount of garlic seasoning. The Shackling beef was well seasoned and mixed well with the salad, however, the meat was quite chewy, which was unfortunate. The Tofu and Aubergine dish was new to me, but really tasty as well. The soft tofu blended deliciously with the sweet and nutty sauce.
If you want authentic Vietnamese food and also care about a restaurant's interior, Viet Hoa is your place to go to. I would have preferred if it was more tapas style, as we'd eat it at home, so you could order a variety of dishes. But as it seems more targeted to a European audience, which isn't a bad thing, because Viet Hoa still delivers authentic Vietnamese cuisine. For 2 drinks, 2 bowls of rice and 4 dishes, we paid £35 together, which was a bargain, especially since we both left the restaurant completely stuffed.
Viet Hoa offers a more modern dining experience than the majority of the Vietnamese restaurants on Kingsland road. The interior screams Scandi-chic, but you'll only find authentic Vietnamese dishes on this menu.
I started with a cocktail, and at only £6 these aren't at all bad. We went for a few well-known favourites such as Morning Glory (garlic-a-plenty, and not too greasy - perfect) and Shaking Beef (full of flavour, but a little too chewy). We also chose a couple of dishes I had never tried before. First up was the Wokked Tofu & Aubergine with Yellow Bean, Pineapple and Cashew Nut Sauce, which was sweet and nutty - this one was definitely a winner! Finally came the Thit Kho (caramelised pork and egg). Whereas the stew contained a generous offering of pork, there was too much fat on it, and the egg had an unpleasant texture. Still the broth was tasty, and so was the tender pork (minus the fat).
Would I go back? Probably. Our meal only came to around £35 for two, and we both left satisfied.
A true gem. They may have done it all up now, but the food is still unpretentious, delicious, fresh and zingy vietnamese. service can be slow during busy times but the food is definitely worth the wait!
So delicious. Probably one of my favorite London Vietnamese restaurants!
Delicious food with very friendly service. However, I would recommend option for tip on cc machine. We will definitely be back! Prawns were superb, my partner had pork from the lunch menu, and he enjoyed it very much, my noodles were very tasty and the amount of prawns was generous
Food was excellent and of very good value. The server was super helpful and nice. Will recommend :)
Amazing food! BBQ park rice is a must try. Nice ambiance, will come again!
Comfortable layout. Not crowded at all. Food was great. I had a pad thai noodle with king prawns, steamed pork dumplings. Very delicious meal. I could not believe I finished it all. My friends had the North Vietnam Hanoi feast and it was a LOT of food. Feedback was all was delicious particularly the Pho Bo soup which can also be ordered on its own. Well worth it and very reasonably priced. My meal with a Vietnamese lemonade drink came to £17. Also the server was very patient helping us decode the menu. Thumbs up.
This place is absolute tranquility to busy London.
Really great lunch offer for £7.50 and you can bring your own drink.
The lady serving is very friendly and efficient with orders.
I have ordered the chicken noodle soup and the Xu Bun noodles and they have been really good. Fresh ingredients and good value for money.
The interior reminds me of Sticks N Sushi with modern touches and wood elements. There's hand sanitiser upon entry and they take both cash and card.
Cannot recommend this enough!
We were a large group and that caused some issues taking the orders and then food arriving. I think more staff became available a little later in the evening.
Food was good.
This is a fantastic place. The prices were amazingly good (£7.80 for lunch) and the food was fantastic and delicious. The place felt calm and welcoming and was nicely decorated. The food was authentic, and filling. I would absolutely come back here, this was a great place.
This is easily my favourite restaurant in London. Excellent service, incredible food. Pictured: whisky sour (no egg); avocado summer rolls; tofu and aubergine with chilli and lemongrass in black bean sauce with coconut rice. Tremendous.
Great chaps working here.
Tasty banana fritter and vegan tofu coconut curry.
They are developing their menu and have highly trained chefs.
I brought my laptop and food some work.
Came here this evening, craving some of Hoxton’s well known Vietnamese fare! Nice spot, clean, friendly service, and ambience. Went for some of the bùn (rice vermicelli) dry noodles, served with pork belly, (meat) spring rolls, and a house fish sauce - great choice, sizzling plate included, and good value.
Delicious, fresh and healthy lunch with green tea, for under a tenner. Can’t say fairer than that! Friendly and prompt service too. Can’t wait to come back.
Was hot and really needed coffee
Don't know the area at all
So walked in here
Staff was very helpful and welcoming
My experience for the Coffee was OK
As had it first time
Wouldn't be able to dine as food Not Halal
Amazing atmosphere and beautiful setting
Quality food without a horrendous pricetag, run by a lovely family. Simple and delicious. Leave a tip and support small business!
Lovely place and staff, the food is fresh and super tasty and the portions, especially lunchtime, are huge at fraction of price. Highly recommended.
Had an early dinner in here one night and it was so tasty/delicious. The restaurant was fairly empty so not a huge atmosphere but it was still enjoyable.
They serve fresh juice 🥤 which is delicious - I opted for the carrot juice. Spent £45 between 2 and enjoyed a feast, good value and would definitely go back!
