Fantastic cafe - spacious, light-filled and with characterful decor. The cakes are all homemade by the owner and are superb. I never used to like bread & butter pudding before, but the waitress here recommended theirs and now it is one of my favourites - heavenly!

Nice cafe. Been here a few times. The owner the other week even though they were about to close made a special effort to stay open for 2 women and children who'd been out swimming and wanted ice creams and cookies and drinks and it was raining which I thought was really nice of her! Had delicious flapjack and takeaway bread and butter pudding and tea. Will definitely return.

Absolutely food and wonderful staff. The salt beef and crispy chicken sourdough sandwich are out of this world. Everything is made from home, including these awesome flapjacks. The coffee is really great too, and the baristas super friendly, helpful and happy to be there. The head chef is a magician. One of these rare coffee shops that has an atmosphere unlike elsewhere. Go visit!

Really lovely cafe and staff. Food looked great but didn't have time to try anything for myself. Next time :)

Friendly staff, always smiling, chatty and helpful. Excellent place to bring the little ones - there is chalk to draw on their tiled wall. I've been many times, usually get a coffee and brownie/cookie.

Just love this place! I always visit when I'm in the area as staff is very friendly and food is prepared fresh and really tasty (they can also cater to specific requirements). And all is homemade! Amazing sourdough bread sandwiches as well as cakes (carrot cake and brownies are top). When cold, I enjoy their soups too. I will definitely visit again!

This cafe is absolutely amazing, the staff are so friendly and the food is prepared with such care and dedication, it is a true credit to their efforts. We has the soup of the day which was carrot, cumin and coriander and OMG the flavour was to die for and the sour dough bread, toasted and presented in a large cup, it was the perfect accompaniment to the soup, well done, I will definitely revisit. Just to finish I had the lemon drizzle cake and coffee, no words needed, there was absolute silence while I devoured it 😁 This place is definitely worth a visit, you will not regret😁

Loved the Journey Cafe. Went for an evening meal and the food was fabulous. Everything was freshly made and you could tell. We had the sharing platters which were delicious. Great environment, great music and lovely friendly staff. We will be back in a heartbeat 👌

Still a lovely neighbourhood cafe. Delicious coffee and tea, tasty toasties. Daily salad specials in summer and in cooler weather a different soup every day. Also eggs and breakfast stuff earlier and loads of great cakes. Run by lovely people to boot 😁

I cannot name a better Café. The breakfast, toasties, home-made cakes and coffee are unbeatable and all of the staff are fantastic. I visit regularly and am delighted to find that the friendly owner is known and loved by all her other customers as well. The sense of community here is unlike any I have experienced and I'm so grateful to know of it!

A very nice place with an easygoing host/owner. Nice cakes, nice tea and coffee. Also offers other menu items but I didn't take much notice although the soup on offer sounded interesting. Has some pavement seating.

I have visited here on several occasions and every time I have been made to feel very welcome. The couple that run this great coffee shop are always chatty, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Lovely surroundings which caters for all. They have even thought of young children by providing a play area and the chalk board up at the counter for children to doodle is a nice touch. It’s great to sit whilst drinking an amazing coffee and peruse the artwork of the little visitors. Food is also amazing- bread is so tasty. They also serve wine and other alcoholic beverages. Also with live music on a Friday evening. I will definitely pop in to experience the journey in the evening. Overall a breath of fresh air to the area. I have lived around here for 32 years and seen the decline and rise of Kirkdale (fortunately).
