I have had my eye on this cute little restaurant for a few years since walking past during Covid (when I had the joys of weekly testing to attend medical school and IT work) and I am soooo glad I’ve finally been able to visit with my friend. So much so that we enjoyed the food and forgot to take photos of all the dishes for you to feast your eyes on! I remember during lockdown they still had take away service at lunch time and I managed to get some chicken bites or wings which were so yummy, despite my butter fingers dropping them on my kitchen floor we saved and savoured them 😅
If you are up by Clissold Park, definitely worth a visit. Though it is higher end of the price range for the area, it works out at just under £10 for each course (£48 for the set menus, which people can see on their window before they walk in so the low reviews about the menu I think is really down to the person not looking at the menu or thinking before they walk in and sat down) and we’re paying for their expertise in blending the flavours and cooking, attention to detail as well as the service. It came to £50-60 each because we had wine and dessert with the meal.
I love it for their menu simplicity where you choose a set menu (we went for the Tuna and Iberica), the dishes were arousing for the eyes and tastebuds.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and was content without being overfed.
Staff were fast, friendly and attentive.
Please keep up the good work!
Very cozy place with sophisticated food selection. The only option is to order 5 courses menu which for us wasn’t what we wanted at that particular time. Even though we decided to order one and share it, it was a really nice experience 👌🏻
Absolutely in love with AUN! Felt so envious of people living near Church Street for having daily access to this gem of a restaurant.
Japanese Spanish tapas to perfection. Had the Teriyaki Lovers set menu and it was the perfect amount of food. Each dish was prepared thoughtfully and everything was delicious. Great value as well!
The restaurant is beautiful but atmosphere laid back and inviting. Service was superb. Everyone in the restaurant with me was saying how happy they were and that they’d be going back.
Hugely recommend.
Delicious selection of 5 dishes per menu - either veggie, meat, or fish. We opted for the meat and fish - standout was definitely the 2nd course: aubergine pancakes - packed with flavour! Best book in advance as it got busy after 7pm
Superb lunch set menu. The cod cheek ramen was available on the Sunday afternoon we went; a joy to slurp intermittently, while also tucking into some of the finest salmon tapas style dishes.
We'll be back, as Stoke Newington has a host of places to shop for overpriced gifts, and AUN has a much more expansive menu in the evenings - that's no dig at the lunch. Great value as well.
Amazing place with very sophisticated, beautifully presented food. You choose from a set 5-course menu (various menus to choose from) and you are presented with the most lovely food (taste and appearance). Highly recommended! The servers were wonderful, patient and explained everything, and they recommended me the apple mochi dessert which i LOVE. would definitely come back again.
My new most favourite place in Stoke Newington! A wonderful Japanese restaurant with 3 (relatively) inexpensive set menus (where all elements can be bought separately ‘a la carte’. Many of the dishes are cooked with tempura, beef curry, seared beef and noodles playing a big part and sashimi and nigiri each only making an appearance on the fish set menu. All the dishes were truly delicious, with the aubergine being a stand out favourite (it looks like little seared beef fillets). The kids thoroughly enjoyed the dishes and asked for more. The staff were all lovely and attentive too. 4 people with 2 set menus and items taken from the a la carte menu came to £160. Well worth it and we will be going back (again and again)!
Had a Tuesday night dinner with a friend and was blown away by how good the food was! Yes- the portions are small and definitely on the pricier side but everything we had was delicious. Standout dish was the oyster and nori starter- we ordered another serving at the end of our meal! Would be keen to go back to try their set menu and also for brunch. Service was excellent too.
A lovely atmospheric restaurant with the most delicious tasting menu - very well priced and great options for vegans! Highly recommend getting dessert too (yuzo sorbet was a highlight) - would come again!
Truly a hidden gem.
We cycled past and thought we'd ask if there are free tables. And there was one.
The food here is unbelievably good. It's so good in fact it turned my preconception that it's going to be yet another overpriced London dinner (they only do set menus and they aren't cheap).
But the food is oh so worth it.
The ordering experience is quite neat, you SMS your name first to register to customer tracking. Then use the number to place your order.
Refills are not via SMS. Don't know what happens if you forgot your home.
