Gail's has such an inviting collection of breads, pastries and savoury snacks. I only wish it were a little more brightly lit/let in more natural light. I guess it is a cosy place for winter. In summer you'll have to hope that you get outdoor seating. It's great for the occasional lazy treat or a catch up with friends. One thing to note is that it has limited charging stations. Usually not a problem but be aware on a busy day.
Sweet. Nice coffee; good pastries. good place for breakfast.
i haven't had such good french toast in a long long time. the brioche was satisfyingly yellow with none of the density of french toast made with bread. in fact i almost thought that it had been dipped into an eggy batter rather than soaked, but was told later by our waitress that it is the texture of the brioche with allows for it to be soaked but still be light and airy. the acid sweetness of rhubarb added a sharp edge to an otherwise mellow french toast and the slightly sweetened ricotta loosened with orange and zest gave it a pleasing richness.
Our love affair with sourdough bread and clam chowder was rekindled after our trip to San Francisco. While we didn't get a chance to have that at Pier 33, I would often meet Wife at Boudin Sourdough Bakery and Cafe at Macy's. Back in London, tried as we did, we just can't find any restaurants serving sourdough bread and clam chowder. Then we chanced upon Gail's at Exmouth Market, which specializes in sandwiches, pastries, cakes and more notably - gourmet breads. A sizable loaf of "San Francisco style sourdough bread" enough to last for at least two meals goes for just over £3. With that, we are good to go with ap can of clam chowder (99p) from Waitrose. After a week of so of getting our bread from Gail's, we decided to check out its breakfast menu instead. I was pleasantly surprised to
... I think you can often judge how good a restaurant is likely to be based on the quality of bread they serve.
I love Gail's! It's such a cozy venue with this pumpkins on the windows and a table at the entrance filled with a wide range of cakes and sweets.
Atmposhere is magic in Gail's. You can have a coffee or a tea while watching at croissants cooking in the oven. Perfect place for a cold winter day.
I was with a friend who came to vist me from Dublin. I had an Earl Grey tea and she ordered a Capuccino. I asked for some milk with the tea as well, and they bought me a tea pot that big that it would have been enough fro three/four people. Then, bear in mind:sharing it's a good option.
Tea was really nice and according to my friend also the coffee. Prices change whether you stay in or take away and when you stay in are a bit pracey compared to other cafe. But it's worth for the place. Service is nice and friendly. And you can even work on your laptop or study as there is wifi and the place, even when crowded, is quite.
The food here is absolutely lovely. This is where we had our first British scones with Jam and Cream, I did not expect 2 scones to fill myself and my wife. They are just exceptional. So many other choices too
Really nice Bakery for having some delicious breakfast or other daily lovely little things and bread. Didn’t thought to find such a good Bakery with traditionell sour dough bread in London.
There are numerous pastry options available, and it's a delightful experience to watch them being baked in the large space. Though not the most conducive for studying and focus, it's not too distracting either.
Great menus. The Sausage Roll was very delicious and tasteful! 😋
And of course, I must not forget that the kind and nice staff's attitude multiplied the pleasure of the food.👌🥰
You can seat outside and enjoy your meal.
Just a little problem is; that you can not pay by Cash
I must say
I came to Gail’s bakery 3 times in a very short trip. Two visits to this same branch
Unbelievable yummy artisinal baked goods
Very yummy coffee too
Dont miss out on the spinach cheese rolls
Tomatoes goat cheese quiche
Cheese and chives scones
Regular plain scones
Staff are so friendly too
Love the outdoor seating in lovely weather
A good stop off if you are in the area . I thought the smoked salmon Bagel very good as well as some of the muffins and the patisseries. Took one star off due to the staff, who really do try their best, become a little overwhelmed at the busy times ....so your food is instant....unlike your tea and coffee which you need to be patient for. Worth a visit.
As a customer it’s really hard to watch 2 people make deliveroo orders while the one person left to make coffees and serve the 10 people waiting all quietly but all annoyed. This isn’t just Gail’s at the moment but a few different businesses. Someone need to find a better balance.
Great vegetarian options if you're in a hurry. The Focaccia with pesto, mozzarella and tomato is great.
Nice relaxing spot to get a cup of coffee and sweets. The scone was great, and the staff was polite. Spacious and calm interior, in which I could plan my day. I would visit again.
What a lovely, 'bohemian - but posh' cafe! Has it's own quirky style and the food is amazing to look at!
They have soya milk, not sure about other vegan options...
Really enjoyed my experience at this branch today.
Ordered a Kale and Spinach roll, pain au chocolat and a pecan caramel cake and my friend ordered an elderflower drink and cinnamon roll and all were (expectedly) delicious.
We were served by Kenya and another lovely male staff member whose name began with D - I’m thinking David? They were polite, warm and personable.
Would recommend!
Lovely atmosphere. Very friendly staff and delicious food. Would visit again and would definitely recommend 😁
Nice cafe and I liked the baked eggs with streaky bacon.
One of the amazing bakeries in London situated in Exmouth Market in Clerkenwell.
Gail's have some mouth watering variety of desserts. We went there for a breakfast on Sunday morning. We have quiche, spinach roll and chicken burger which was pretty yum.
Super friendly staff, delicious coffees and snacks. Had the Comte, leek and smoked ham quiche and oat milk flat white later. Delicious!
