If like me, you never tried Caribbean food before and have a thing for spicy food then I'd definitely tell you, If you are anywhere around London and looking to try some Caribbean cuisine then head down to Bamboula! It's easy to locate and not to mention serves authentic Caribbean dishes the way they should be...super spicy! I had the curry goat and my friend had the salt fish dish. Both dishes were delicious although the salt dish portion could be bigger! Other than that, I loved it! Good service. Delish food (Spiciness of the food is just perfect!) Lovely ambience. A 5* well deserved, at least in my books!

Loved the jerk snapper - we also had curried goat and fried chicken. All the dishes were excellent - relaxed atmosphere with reggae tunes being played. Highly recommended.

My group of 4 from the U.S. enjoyed everything we had. I highly recommend the wings and codfish fritters for appetizers. The brown stew chicken, curry chicken, and oxtail stew were all great!

Went there last night to celebrate my partners birthday.. The food was lovely and spicy but not too hot. The Brixton mess was amazing and so were the cocktails. Was busy but not cramped like the places in Brixton village. Very convenient for the cinema too. Definitely recommend it.

Decided to head to Brixton for dinner after a busy day working as I was keen to take my little brother who is visiting from Scotland for some West Indian/Caribbean food! I was devastated to discover Brixton Village wasn't open (should've been wiser and checked ahead, rookie error! But one that paid off.) Zomato to the rescue to find somewhere for dinner, a mere 4 minute walk from the tube station Bamboula offered up a taste of the Caribbean perfect for a novice to the cuisine.

The service was warm and friendly and the portions are massive! I definitely recommend the home made ginger beer (my brother ordered it and I had serious drink envy, plus they can spike I with a 50ml shot of rum; yes please!)

I often opt for fish when eating out as I rarely cook it myself at home and so decided to go for the Jerk Snapper, this was served up with corn, slaw, seasoned fries and a sweet tangy sauce. The fish was perfectly cooked and had for me just the right amount of spice.

Bamboula was clearly a popular choice even on a Monday night, service was super friendly and as efficient as possible, though if you're in a hurry on a week Bamboula might not be the best for you, after all good food needs loving care and time!

Overall I was really impressed and would definitely head back for another try, mainly as I need to give the Ginger Beer and Rum a go! My brother raved about his Jerk lamb and how tender the meat was! Definitely worth checking out in Brixton.

Great 1st Impression. I had a great time for my first visit to Bamboula Caribbean Restaurant. I had curry goat. The food was great (I was a little disappointed about the amount of rice). The music set the mood and the waiter/waitress was very friendly. Whenever I am in London I will visit Bamboula Caribbean Restaurant.

Little Gem. Four of us went to Brixton to see a film at the Ritzy. We came across Bamboula and decided to have some Caribbean food. We ordered jerk chicken and jerk lamb with all the timmings and for desert, bread pudding and tropical crumble. The lamb is to die for! The food and service was so good we asked to speak to the manager to express our satisfaction, we left twelve pounds tip. Really glad to have found this little gem.

Eat as much as you like buffet. Brilliant idea! especially for those who work in the local area. excellent jerk chicken and barbequied wings, rice 'n' peas was very tasty.

will be back and certainly recommending to colleagues who work in the local area. a great relaxed space and a great way to spend the lunch hour which can be taken up with long waits which eat into that precious lunch hour break. once a again a great idea for caribbean food lovers.

Delicious Caribbean food - I had the jerk chicken, and while the leg was amazingly tender and moist, the breast was a bit dry. The brown sauce helped with the breast. Added brown sauce to the rice as well. Only downside was I got the wrong sides for jerk chicken (was supposed to come with slaw and corn, came with rice and plantains) and they were out of a lot of the items. Service is also a bit slow, but that's typical I feel for a Caribbean restaurant.

Booked for a party of 22 with 24 hours notice. Food was served promptly and in abundance. Staff were courteous and attentive. Everybody left full and happy. Great value for money. Well done Marlene and her team!

Recently revamped the menu and actually think it's better from the first time I went a year or so again. The jerk chicken was excellent and a generous portion, nicely spiced and with a good selection of sides. My vege girlfriend wasn't so impressed with the cho cho (kinda like a courgette but less tasty). I'd recommend though, decent prices, good service and tasty food..!

I live in NW London and there any many caribbean restaurants but non of them come close to the overall experience at Bamboula. I booked at table for 13 guests and was not disappointed! The restaurant has great ambience and the food is excellent quality. The cod fitters, pumkin parcels, pumpkin soup and chicken wings we had for starters were delicious. The mains were even better - the food was beautifully seasoned and the meat was cooked to perfection. The Oxtail meat just feel off the bone, the jerk pork was sensational and meat was so so soft and succulent and the goat curry was one of the best i've ever had. I was so grateful for the experience I had to thank the chef in person. So for those that are new to caribbean food, this is not quick - it is NOT Pizza Express and you will not be served your meal in 15 minutes. Caribbean food takes TIME to cook properly and the food here is work waiting for. My recommendation is to book in advance and get to restaurant early and enjoy yourself for a couple of hours. You are guaranteed to have a great time! I will definitely be going back again even though I live on the other side of London.

One of the best Caribbean places in London, really fresh and tasty food. I was never disappointed in many visits and hard to believe the bad reviews here some must have been on the one day in the year when the chef was ill!

For me, this is the best place for Jamaican food in Brixton. There are the cheaper takeaway places around, but I'd advise to pay a bit extra and eat here. The staff are great, and everything that my wife and I tried was excellent. Try the fish fritter starters.

We went here for lunch after wandering around Brixton looking for good food, and definitely made the right choice. We ate the Jerk chicken & fried chicken with plantain and rice with sides.. both were beautifully seasoned and very tasty, decent portions, good value, and very friendly staff. I highly recommend Bamboula for that authentic Caribbean flavour!

I've been to truly authentic Caribbean restaurants and this seems just like them.... except better. It's like they took one of those places and put it in Berlin. Everything works perfectly. With charm. My new favourite.

Every item in Bamboula's menu provides an escape to the Caribbean with every bite. Especially the papaya salad and checking chicken. Priced very reasonably, I enjoyed my meal and the feel good vibes given off. I will definitely return.

Great food and great atmosphere, we went there for lunch, great value for money. Only thing I'd say is don't order salads, there's nothing in them and it's a waste of money. Everything else great!

What a wonderful and cozy restaurant. It was the first time I had Caribbean food. I had the Jerked ox tail as well as the plantains. The food was delicious. I highly recommend this cozy restaurant.

Nothing fancy, but definitely a little island oasis. Oxtails were great, and jerk was solid. Would have loved a little bigger portion, but I am definitely going back for the brown stewed chicken and calaloo.
