This is the best lunchtime vegetarian Indian buffet ever. It's like going to a Gujarati wedding. Their signature dish is definitely the large chunks of marinated chilli paneer. I wish I had a stomach as wide as the Clyde to be able savour all the authentic dishes on offer. Excellent value for money and highly nutritious, fresh ingredients. Sometimes you must have patience for a table though, because the secret of Diwana is definately out.

If only Diwana was nearer... can't think of another restaurant I'd endure the 1 1/4 hr drive each way for.. Have been returning since 1986 when they used to have 2 smaller restaurants on opposite sides of the road. Friendly staff with the most delicious menu and I'm not vegetarian! Dream of the day there is a Diwana in Brentwood.

Delicious, authentic inexpensive food. It's basic decor inside but the food is the star attraction here. An assortment of people eat in here, hippy and city types. It's perfect if you have an hour or so to kill whilst waiting for a train st nearby London Eudton.

After a long tiring day roaming around, site seeing and shopping, we were starving so our friend took us here. As we entered, we were greeted by 90s Bollywood music of shah rukh khan and other actors which felt really warm and welcoming. It dint matter that it was crowded but the staff gave us the table pretty quick.
We ordered pretty normal food for Indians and it tasted delicious. Even the ordinary rice and sambhar curry tasted delicious. It was too good, perfect taste and perfect blend with all the spices.
For masala dosa, the chatni was a perfect match made of coconut.
We dint order any dessert as we were very full by the time we finished our meal.
It was an amazing end to a perfect day.

Diwana Bhel Poori House is a 100% vegetarian restaurant in Euston specialising in North Indian street foods and South Indian breakfasts. They are also famous for their VFM buffet lunch and Gujrati thalis. Whilst their bhels are good, their dosas are better. Service can be a little inconsistent but gets the job done. Worth a visit.

Waste NOT, Want NOT.

My first visit to Diwana would have been in year 2000 or 2001. The place hasn't changed a bit nor has the price of their buffet lunch. The place always seems busy when they are doing this buffet lunch. Quality of the food hasn't changed much and I really love the salads that they serve as part of the buffet. The staff is not really very friendly and they do need some training in customer service.

I took some of my international course mates here to try out some Indian food! The restaurant is set like a typical old style Bombay cafe!
The buffet at 6.95 is an excellent deal and an easy way to show other people what different types of food are available in India!
I am personally fond of their dahi poori! Gulab jamun and rasmalai were good to try as well.

I would definitely go back!!
However, my second visit here was not very friendly as they had set times to serve their chat section, and its not available between 12-3 unless you chose to have the buffet (but the name is Diwana Bhel Poori house so that chaat should be available at all times). We argued with the staff to let us eat some chaat only, which they reluctantly agreed but our waiter was quite cold and did not serve us really well - we had to ask for the bill thrice! Thats honestly a huge let down as I was so excited when I first found this place thinking I could go there anytime, but now have to pay heed to either go for the lunch buffet or after 3 for a quick bite of some yummy chaat.

Indian Street Food. We came out of Euston station looking for Indian food and found that the Diwana Bhel Poori House was literally around the corner. The restaurant don't take bookings and the decor is very basic but it's all you need.

Southern Indian food absolutely packed with flavour. Their coconut chutney was a revelation! Personally I'm not a massive spice head but I still managed to find things that I liked. I had the rave onion dosa (a crispy pancake type thing with different toppings)

Will be visiting again. Good food that was very reasonably priced (it came to just over £33 and me and my partner both ate like kings).

Simply the best!. As a die hard meat eater I find it very hard to survive a trip to an all veggie restaurant... However, this little gem (which I have been visiting for 20-years!) delivers fantastic authentic Southern Indian Cuisine packed with flavour - & very reasonbably priced. If you have not tasted the bhel pouri (puffed rice, 'magic' herbs, potato etc) you simply have not lived. Warning - addictive! Also try a foluda drink, works well to calm the spice burn... Atmostphere is great, basic restaurant & BYO so great value & fun.

I have visited this place quite a lot of times and love it totally. The service here though sometimes seemed a little indifferent is overall quite nice and attentive.
I really love the menu and the dishes on offer and unlike many Indian places, the quality of food is supreme and not a diluted version at all. The prices are quite appropriate and the value for money is quite good. I recommend one trues their amazing mango lassi and the dosa which was flavorsome and just perfect. This is far from the regular chain style food and a must try!

I tried this restaurant specialising in bhel poori and was pretty impressed with it. The ambience resembles more of a 70s restaurant and the interior is in need of some renewal. The location is just fine and was packed on a Sunday evening as well. I ordered a bhel poori as starter and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The bhel consists of a mixture of potato, noodles etc. all mixed in a sweet and a slightly tangy sauce. Along with it I ordered a dosa, filled with a potato mixture and was served with curry sauces. I felt the filling was a little bland. The food is really good and is available at reasonable prices while the service of this place is very efficient as well. Its a pretty good option for a quick meal. This place is worth going for a meal of bhel poori alone.

I was suggested this place by a friend who recommended it very highly for amazing Indian food. This has to be one of the best I have gone to for Indian food. The food had a very distinct aroma that made you want to lick the plate clean before you even started. Every item I ordered, the mushrooms, the breads, the peas, were all refreshing and had just the right amount of spice. The dessert was an absolute delight and soaking with sugar. I will definitely be returning for the amazing food and very reasonable prices.

I visited this restaurant and really loved their vegetarian food. I ordered salads, chapattis along with several dishes of pulses, veg curries and cottage cheese. I had pakodas in snacks and also decided to order spicy chicken peas. The food was excellent and definitely was not too salty. All the combos I tried were excellent and the flavours were there in every dish I tasted. For dessert, I had Gulab Jamun. It was really delicious. They also house some good snacks such as the bhel poori with puffed rice, yoghurt and some good tamarind sauces. The prices were also reasonable and I had a good filling lunch. However, the interiors were basic and the place was cramped but its the food for which you go. Overall, the lunch was excellent and the service was great.

I visited this place for an Indian buffet last week with my partner, and had a great and fulfilling meal. They have a huge variety of items and the flavors manage to appeal to the palates of all types of people.
Though the food tastes great, the service is not quite attentive and have an indifferent hospitality.
Either way, the food is amazing and you get a nice meal for the price you pay.

Diwana is by far the best vegetarian Indian buffets I have ever been to. Apart from being an economical outlet for all veggie lovers, its a place that offers a variety of options even for vegans as well.
Existing now for 40 years, the food here is rich of proteins and has a correct balance of thoughtfully induced spices.
This place exudes an undying spark of quality of excellence for vegetarian food.
Having tried all Indian vegetarian buffets on Drummond Street buffet road, I can strongly suggest Diwana for its impeccable savoury.

This place has great value for money .I had wanted to check it out for a really long time and was glad to have finally paid it a visit.
The place has a youth hostel kind of ambiance and is very simplistic. The staff is just efficient and not over indulgent in their customer dealing. This place remains busy at all times and this only speaks of the great quality of food.
The food overall was pretty decent and tasted delicious. I would recommend trying the sweet lassi and the carrot coconut squares!

This place serves some great Indian food. The Rava Delux Dosa that I tired was delicious and was accompanied by hot and spicy sambhar. The chutneys I tried were rather fresh, as well.
The downside of this restaurant was that, one cannot order any appetisers or drinks unless they're ordered alongside a main dish. In my opinion it is just a money making scam. Also, they have problems seating you, unless everyone with you is present.

This place has amazing food which are nothing short of being incredible. The menu is quite inviting too with various options ranging form dosas to other snacks as well. My favorite is their Bhelpoori which is just beyond amazing, probably the bets i have ever had, even beating the original Chowpatty flavors. The service is a tad bit grumpy and i prefer to pay the service charge as a tip for the staff.

The restaurant provides customers with cheap and well cooked vegetarian food. It's unlicensed so you can bring your own alcohol. My favourite dish is the deluxe dozer for £5-£7 pounds, a really cheap meal for such a large portion. The restaurant has a very basic interior.

It's in Drummer Street, five minutes away from Euston Station.

The restaurant has a fairly average North Indian / Bangladeshi food, but what stands out is its South Indian selection. I tried the Rava Dosa, which was, compared to all other South Indian restaurants in London, really, really good (although not a match to that at Rasa). The place is very constricted and the seating area is way too narrow to be comfortable, as people keep brushing into your chairs as they walk past you... Overall, I was more than happy with my South Indian plate, but not too happy with the ambiance or the North Indian platter my friend had called for - too oily for both of us.

If you're looking for really good quality indian street food at rock bottom prices, this is the place for you. It's what I would describe as a very basic version of high street chain Masala Zone, not in terms of food quality but the general decor.

Buy booze from the off license 2 doors down (Don't just pick the cheapest one people, it will taste just as bad as it is cheap) but pick something you want to drink, ignore the basic cafe rustic surroundings and get stuck in! Have the Bhel, it's my favourite. And finish off with a Kulfi.

Where else in London (or England) can you eat genuinely good food for around £12? This café does not take bookings and has fairly basic decor (no tablecloths) but the service is efficient and you can buy alcohol from the shop two doors along (Diwana's is unlicensed) though the lassi here is excellent and refreshing. The south Indian vegetarian food here is excellent if you order carefully.

Diwana is best at the starter snacks, so I normally order two or three of these per person, and then just skip to the home-made kulfi (Indian ice cream). You should try the bhel poori, samosas and aloo papri chat, which are outstanding. The bhel poori itself has a wonderful balance of flavours and textures, the spices immediately apparent as the first bite touches your tongue. The blend of textures and spices in the bhel poori in particular is excellent, with little pieces of poori, potato, coriander and tamarind sauce. The samosas here are generous in size, bursting with mixed vegetable filling and served with a spicy tomato sauce.

The de-luxe dosa (basically a large crisp pancake stuffed with a spicy potato and onion filling) is also excellent, though the main course curries are rather ordinary; they can be a little watery and dull, though both chapatis and parathas are fine. They offer an "eat as much as you want" lunch for £6.50; this is excellent value, but does not usually include the snacks at which they are best. In addition to the excellent kulfi, they also have the rich, comforting dessert called shrikand, here quite thick in texture with a hint of saffron. Few restaurants in the UK make this dish.

The only reason I do not score this higher is that if you stray from the snacks on to their main course curries you will be disappointed; these are very ordinary indeed. But if you stick to the sort of dishes I describe then you will have a meal that is easily 12/20 level (and higher in places), yet at such a low price that you have to pinch yourself.

Although Drummond Street is probably best known for it's kebabs, it's fair to say that the veggies are well represented there too. Diwana is another one of those paradoxes; a meat-free restaurant that manages to establish itself, and that not alone (there are identikit places on the same street!). Whatever the case, it must be doing something right... but then if anyone knows vegetarianism it's the South Indians.

Since we were there for lunch, we decided to go for the buffet. £7 got us in, which although sounds like a good deal is quite pricey when compared to the equivalents in other places (like good ol' Green Street). That said, the food, despite being in a buffet, was damn good. Of course, it helps being able to eat everything on offer.

It would probably be fruitless to list everything I tried, but the variety was pretty good - right down to the gulab jamun and fruit I had for dessert. Another three quid each got us drinks (fresh orange juice for me) and teas, and overall the meal we had was worth the tenner. My only complaint would be with the facilities there - the place was quite cramped, but that could just have been us deciding to pick a booth instead of a table. Service was adequate but nothing to write about, but the place was as clean as you would expect.

Overall it was a nice enough place to eat on a random Saturday outing.

This restaurant is located behind Euston station, in a street where many others indian restaurants are one next to each other. Why did we choose this one instead of next door? I don't remember! Anyway, the place isn't particularly good looking but it was full on a weekday.

We decided to order Dosa, paneer dosa and paneer and sag dosa. I think the one I really liked was the paneer and sag dosa, though we ate half and half so i think i should have liked also the other one. The dosa is a crispy rice pancake filled with, in this case, paneer cheese and vegetables. I never ate this plate before, so I cannot compare it to other places, but i think it's quite interesting and very filling.

About the restaurant..what else to say? Service was quick and efficient.

A true hidden gem for vegetarian food, this place keeps the tradition of service industry keeping everything so simple that the focus has been on food , one of the best places in London for BYOB ! Always a delight to eat great food cheap and wash it down with something you like! I have been coming here for years , not sure this visit if the management has changed ? The Sambhar has not been rasam like it was more daal like , the Dosa was amazing , the filling was a bit hash botch of veg put together! First time at Diwana and it didn't disappoint. Tucked away around the back of Euston station you'd never know it was there but thankfully our friend is a regular here and recommended we tag along. Diwana is not your regular Indian restaurant, its no frills approach to decor allows you to concentrate on the food. Which for those of you more used to the traditional chicken tikka masala and other boringness will come as a great surprise. The South Indian Dosa is the house speciality and comes in both vegan and vegetarian. I have a Thali which was excellent and a good introduction to a number of the dishes on the menu. Prices for central London are very reasonable, we paid just over £15 per head including service. If you need to collect drinks to take in there are pubs and off licences in the local area. I will certainly be back again to try to one of the Dosa next time.

Having been here, on special occasions, as a child (about 30 years ago), it is lovely to frequent this place again (been twice in the last 3 years). Back in the 1980's there wasn't many Vegetarian Restaurants, hence we'd travel into London for our "fix" as a treat. To be fair, nothing's changed and it looks almost the same as it did back then. Could do with modernising and decorating. The food was fast and tasty. Definitely hasn't lost that quality and feeling of nice home cooked food, at a reasonable price. Which for the location (Central London) was good to see. We also came earlier in the year, but the service was terrible from one particular rude waiter, hence not 5 stars. However, on this Visit he wasn't there, and the waiters were generally much younger. The service was very good.
