I was so happy to find out that they had happy hour every day from 5-8. A bottle of wine for 12, 2 for one on cocktails and beers – a deal like that in London is a keeper. We were more peckish than hungry, so we ordered two platters of bar snacks. Since we had a vegetarian with us, we went for a meat-free selection. Most of the time, bar chow tends to be incredibly underwhelming so we weren’t expecting much. However, the platters had a variety of things on offer, and the food was cooked and presented well.
A really nice bar with plenty of space, stylish decor, music at the right volume, and a generous happy hour that lasts till 8pm and gives you two well-made cocktails for ten pounds 🍸. It has all the elements of a solid bar.
Such a strange place. We went here at 5:30 and were taken down to the 'underground' section where it could have been 10 at night. It was so dark we couldn't read the menu. It was expensive but the service was good. They played that terrible elevator music and there wasn't a huge amount of atmosphere but I can imagine as the night goes on, it gets better.
A weird place.

I'm spoiling you guys - I've got another competition for you - this time to win food and drinks for 4 people at the lovely, brand new Mabel's in Covent Garden. Open less than a week, I popped down to check it out and make sure I liked it enough to give away this amazing prize. And how could I resist anyway - my Mum's old dog was called Mabel - it was meant to be!!Mabel's is on Maiden Lane, just south of the Covent Garden piazza. It's away from the crowds, and a is huge space incorporating 2 bars, a massive restaurant area and a dance floor and more seating downstairs. They serve wonderful cocktails; brunches - think avocado on toast, granola, eggs benedict or a full English washed down with a Bloody Mabel - their take on the Bloody Mary using their own spice mix; all day food including mouth-watering sounding sandwiches - Ogleshield cheese, roasted mushroom and salami tartufo sourdough grilled toastie; summery salads such as butter lettuce, almond, pear, cherry tomato and oxford blue cheese; and a full menu of starters, mains and puddings. We had a wonderful meal there and I'm so happy that one of you can win a meal there too. Despite going to Mabel's on a Tuesday post-bank holiday it was busy and lively, filled with cocktail drinks and eaters. We sat towards the back of the restaurant area so had the full view over the venue and out on to Maiden Lane. We started with cocktails - a mojito for the boy which was punchy and not too sweet (I hate mojitos that are mainly sugar) and The Mabel for me (because how could I not!) The Mabel is a champagne cocktail made with St Germain elderflower liqueur shaken with mint & peach bitters before being topped with Heidsieck Monopole Champagne. So easy to drink and super refreshing.

Mabel’s is a solid all-rounder when it comes to the capacity to entertain, and makes for a pleasant addition to the buzzy vibe of Covent Garden. Located on Maiden Lane and neighboring the fantastic Polpo, Big Easy and Stick N’ Sushi, Mabel’s has something slightly different to offer the discerning passer-by. The restaurant opens at 10am for brunch and sails through the day with a selection of pub-chic food, served in the high-walled and prettily sky lit restaurant, finishing up at 1am with drinks and dancing in the basement bar.
I had a nice catch up (and a cocktail!) lunch with my friend Sarah at Mabel’s Bar & Kitchen, in Covent Garden. It’s a brand spanking new restaurant/bar/club/all round cool place. Mabel’s is so new, the painters were still finishing some touch ups in the room downstairs. We were seated towards the back mezzanine, under a lovely bright skylight and big comfy chairs, overlooking the restaurant area.
Being ladies-wot-lunch, we went the whole hog and ordered some cocktails- yay daytime drinking! I had a mojito and Sarah had something called a Lavendar Love. I took ages deciding what to order, everything sounded so good. In the end, I chose the peanut butter-coconut-lemon grass- green chilli chicken skewers. It had peanut butter in it, I knew it could only be a good thing.
It was such a nice, Summery day I chose something a little ‘lighter’ and went for the honey soy marinated salmon served on a bed of confit potatoes, beans, asparagus, and peas. It was such a hefty piece of salmon, I didn’t feel like I was being ‘good’ at all. It was the kind of meal I try to create at home when the weather is nice and warm and I want to eat outside. I also got a side of kale and chips because clearly, my efforts at being good are totally rubbish!
Sarah’s fish n’ chips were this close to being pinched as well, as that crispy battered piece of haddock was begging to be snapped in half!
Our meal was rounded off with dessert- I will always maintain that there is a separate stomach for pudding- and so I went with the grilled figs with honey creme fraiche. Best lunchtime decision, ever.
The honey creme fraiche could have been a dessert on it’s own. I loved that the figs were on the dessert menu; it’s not something I’ve seen in a restaurant for a long time, nor could I think of anything more Summery to feast on than figs.
I was also impressed with the chocolate brownie too- dense, chocolatey and not all stingy when it came to portion size. Also, you can never go wrong with a brownie for pudding…
Dessert was rounded off with my latest obsession- Assam tea.
It was such an enjoyable lunch, we easily spent a couple of hours just hanging out. I loved the decor and vibe of the place too- lush greens and dark wood, reminiscent of exotic travel and adventure. I liked the little details- a vintage map, butterflies, and black and white photos. They’ve certainly pulled off the za-za-zu they mention on their website.
Large, comfortable pub serving Shepherd Neame beers. I've had drinks here on several occasions over the years, but recently ate for the first time. The haddock and chips was very good. Excellent chips. There are some outside tables, which are sheltered.
Nice traditional pub with a friendly atmosphere and good ales. Even on a very busy Saturday afternoon the service was excellent
Large selection of beers, pub food. We went there for lunch. When ordering the beer, the staff let us taste two beers and chose the one we liked. The food was very good. The staff very friendly. Really recommended!
This was the highlight pub by far in the Euston / Kings cross area. The cask beer quality was superb, the bar is well stocked including well known craft & keg beers & well stocked for other drinks, the staff are friendly & the pub had a great atmosphere. I did not get chance to try the food menu, but the food looked very good & was clearly being enjoyed. The pub has both inside & outside seating & although football was on the screens at time of visit, it not lost it's local pub feel.
The fries are some of the best I’ve had in while. Great service and it’s a very nice place to sit down for a drink or meal!
Great vibe, a huge selection of drinks, and really nice ales. They are dog friendly. The food is good and the service is fast. They have tvs everywhere, so watching sports here is perfect.
There was this story about a dead lady going there every now and then, but she won't drink your beer, so she's cool.
Went for an evening meal with two colleagues after a long day of work then travelling. Arrived feeling ravenous. It's got a traditional pub feel, food is typical (if quite pricey) but well cooked and tasty. We had to wait a little while for a decent table but the service was prompt and friendly. Beer also good. In short, a characterful, friendly London pub that didn't feel like a tourist trap.
Pleasant pub just off Euston Road. Not too busy on a Saturday afternoon. Good selection of reasonable food and beer. Really friendly and pleasant staff Together with three friends we had dish called “best ever fish finger sandwich” we all agreed that it was tasty but nobody thought it was the best ever. Otherwise very good
Great place to watch games. They have a TV in each room, to ensure most of the people can have access to it. We did not order a lot, but the food was tasty and worth the money. It become very busy once the game kicked off.
Highly recommended if you consider watching games in a pub.
Good burgers, broad choice of ales and great service. Traditional London pub vibe in a good location.
The fish and chips also comes highly recommended.

Really liked this place. We turned up from KGX and managed to get a pint in no time. The staff were welcoming with smiles and greetings. The food menu looked great and I sampled the Nachos and Loaded Chips (minus Bacon because I'm not a fan) and the nachos were on point! I shared them with another and the plate was a great size for a 'small plate' so I was pleasantly surprised. The loaded chips arrived and they were immense. I got them to remove the baconnaise and asked for spicy ketchup and it came looking class! I really enjoyed my food, the Blueberry IPA from Shepherd Neame was sublime and the feel of the place was simply chilled but lively. Will come back the next time I'm down here 🍻😀

We stopped by for a quick refreshment while in a walk around town. The Greek salad thing was a bit odd, but nice. They have bottled non alcoholic beer.
Absolutely the best fish in chips I’ve had in London area. Proper Cod fish freshly fried, hot and crispy with loads of flavor. Amazing house-made tartar sauce. Freshly fried golden chips. Service is ok nothing mind blowing but pleasant and competent. Really cannot get over the quality of the fish and chips though. Great job folks.
Even though this pub is minutes from Kings Cross and Euston, it has the feel of a Local. Nice beers, friendly staff. Been coming here for over 10 years now.
This comfy, cozy but spacious pub is a short walk off the Euston Road. A great place to get away from it all or meet with friends. Short walk to King's Cross St Pancras and Euston Stations. There are far more prominent venues but this is well worth a visit. Staff and friendly and quick to serve. Great range of drinks. Kept clean.
Lovely pub, staff very friendly! Food looked yummy, but we didn't eat.
Watched some football and had a pint. Delightful place with amazing service. So friendly. Did not have any food but will be back to try.
Very nice pub with friendly staff. Delicious food, good beers.
