Unbelievable for Walworth Rd! Shouldn’t be surprised, south London has some lovely gems like this and Silk Road only a quick bus ride away.
No pic unfortunately. My friends and I bought a whole bunch of different fried wings. Didn’t much like the overly sweeter flavour, but that’s a personal preference, others enjoyed just fine. The rest including the garlic and soy was amazing.
Most authentic Korean fried chicken I've tasted so far in London. The restaurant itself is clean, the service was ok. Just a shame about the not so central location, as I would definitely visit more if it was easy to get to.
Don't you love a humble, hidden, hush-hush, Houdini-wouldn't-even-want-to-escape-from-here, kinda restaurant! This Korean restaurant on Walworth road has been sitting right under my nose since December 2014! . Cheemc is located amongst the many pizza, fried chicken and kebab restaurants near Elephant and Castle tube station. Up until this weekend I had always thought that it was another donar kebab shop! Oh boy was I wrong! If Cheemc had any similarities with these normal takeaway shops is that it specializes in fried chicken! Though not any kind of fried chicken... Korean fried chicken!
Recommended by Korean friends^ ^ The food there are quite good, just like what I had in Korea~ The space is a little bit small but cozy, sometimes you need to queue for a while.
I absolutely loved their Kimchi fired Rice and the Seafood pancakes. Service was fast and we had a good time here. I'll come back for sure. Booking reservations suggested as they do not have many tables
Food comes out fresh and piping hot! Definitely recommend to try their KFC! Flavourful and crispy!
My new favourite Korean restaurant!
The highlight for me was the Korean fried chicken - we got honey chili flavour which was delicious, but there are also plenty of other flavors that I'm keen to come back and try. Chicken was crispy, crunchy and juicy.
The various other dishes we ordered were huge portion sizes and also very tasty.
We spent about £20 per person on food. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back!
If I could give them 10 star I would definitely give it, customer service was absolutely outstanding, food portions were massive and tasted so nice!! The vibe was quiet with the music at the background. And especially the cleanliness, I believe I saw the manger cleaning every table after use. Making sure we enjoyed our food and our stay at his restaurant. I’ll definitely come back for more in the near future! They also offered wide range of drinks and alcohol as well!! Though I wish they bring back the Róse Tteokbokki
Not very traditional Korean food but tasty quite nice, nice staff and atmosphere as well! The Portion of chicken is lagrge, we couldn’t even find it!!!
Highly recommend! Really good food and decent prices. We tried booking but were told to just walk in, and managed to get the last available table.
Group of 4 of us got the tteokbokki, jjamppong, kimchi jeon, honey chilli fried chicken, soondoobu jiggae and beef bulgogi. All with very good flavours and just the right amount
I have ordered delivery from them before, was not impressed, but my friend keep telling me they are very good if you dine in.
So I have tried, she was right.
Korean Fried Chicken has crispy coating and really juciy.
Sweet potato fries are good too.
overall: obsessed. all time guilty pleasure. it’s a crime not to try their honey butter fried chicken.
tip ❗️: personally, a whole chicken is enough for 2, maybe with one small side if u r extra hungry.
3 side dishes 🥕: simple seasoning w/ sesame oil & pinch of salt. excellent contrast to the greasiness of fried chicken (oily in a good way). tho the spinach was a tad bit too cold, bits of crushed ice in it…
rose tteokbokki 🌹: disappointed. rice cake was cooked to the perfect chewiness. but the sauce was completely overpowered by the bacon, there was no creaminess nor spiciness. there’s also a very odd sour aftertaste.
honey butter fried chicken 🍯: BEST korean fried chicken in london. never saw this powder seasoning flavour in other korean restaurant & it’s just absolute divine. crunchy batter coating tender juicy chicken. it has some fried sweet potato in it as well. we got half portion.
cheesy powder chips 🧀: thickness of potatoes is between french fries & chips. again, they know what’s the deal with fried food, extremely crispy batter that is not too oily nor dry. the cheese powder is less sweet compared to the fried chicken.
First time going to a Korean restaurant, the inside is a little bit bigger than it let on to be, I like the atmosphere inside with the k-pop music playing in the background.
Tried the buttered powder chicken, and to my surprise it was delicious, never tasted anything like it before. The powder added another level of experience while eating the chicken.
Definitely recommend trying the buttered powder chicken.
We wondered in off the street on a Sunday night and found a buzzing little place! The food was exciting, and we lapped everything up. My daughter was a little overwhelmed by some of the spices, but she still managed most of her chicken.
fifth time revisiting the restaurant, crispy KFC good as usual, crispy at the outside, tendering in the inside, strongly recommended!!!
The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered honey flavored chicken and original one: both were so delicious. They also allowed me to take home the food that I couldn't finish. Stuff is very nice too.
Came to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend and we were not disappointed. If you like Korean food, then this place is highly recommended!
We wanted to try a variety of dishes so we ordered the half and half Korean fried chicken, seafood pancakes, toppoki, and cheesy fries to share, and I ordered the teriyaki mayo chicken for my main. The portions were large and everything we ordered tasted delicious. We weren't able to finish all the food but they gave us containers to take away the remaining food.
Although we ordered more than we could finish, the total came to £25 per person which was very reasonable. The restaurant is not located close to me, but I would definitely go again if I'm nearby.
Everything tastes really good and authentic, believe me and just try for yourself. Literally the most authentic Korean chicken I’ve had outside of Korea including KFC brands in NYC. The portions are HUGE as well. No lies, I would eat here every day.
Unreal fried chicken. You have to try. The seafood pancake was also amazing. Service was quick and efficient with no mistakes and politeness always.
If you’re looking for a nice Korean place where you can ask questions about the food and get some tasty things in return - this is the place to go! No
