This is the best Persian food ever! I've eaten a lot of Persian food in many places and haven't been to impressed, however this restaurant changed my mind. The dish I had is reminiscent of home cooking and has subtle flavours that really express themselves in your tastebuds. Even the Persian tea is flavoursome and full of aroma with a fresh blend.
The restaurant presentation is very chic looking and the staff are very friendly and meticulous with their work. It's also very clean with hygiene being first class.
I recommend this as an evening out any time. Did I say the prices are affordable? For such a posh looking venue, the price per head is excellent value for what your getting - a large helping.
You must visit, because words simply cannot describe the experience!
Lovely quality of food with prefect customer serveices and recenable prices, had a fantastic night there and i will recommend it to anyone who wants to have a good time.
I had the best Chelo Khoresht-e Fesenjoon ever there!
Lovely decorated restaurant and amazing food! Thank you! :)
“Excellent Food, Fantastic Service, Casual Environment”
Ended up here one night after work before heading out for some drinks. Lovely establishment which really does serve authentic Persian food. Their grill selection is nice and the decor is fab too! Would recommend.
A perfect Sunday for me starts with a yoga session , (which then has to be rewarded) followed by a mooch round the Golborne road in North West London. Eclectic, rammed full of eateries and stuffed with a bunch of people chewing the fat over a vast array of cuisines. Trouble is, you just have to open your gob and say Portobello road and you know the price will at least double.
Armed with that knowledge, we decided to give the Persian restaurant Anar a go. A cool, intimate place with a relaxed atmosphere and very welcoming staff.
The menu was quite small which always makes me happy and we decided to go for the four mezze dishes for £14, an extra salad and two skewers of minced lamb to share.
For the wine, a 500ml carafe of Shiraz rose seemed like a good idea but at £17 (and it represents two large glasses) it was rather a lot to swallow, if you see what I mean.
The food arrived very promptly. The first dish I tried, sauteed aubergine with walnuts, garlic, mint, onion and whey was a thickish dip that was just absolutely delicious. The ingredients had all been blended together and the resulting symphony of flavours was outstanding.
Similarly a dish of yogurt and cucumber was fresh, creamy and scooped up with a little flat bread, a mouthful of pure pleasure.
I should have asked if a machine produces these long, minced lamb skewers one sees everywhere in Middle Eastern restaurants but anyhow, the meat was juicy, moist and wonderfully spiced. The most interesting of dishes was a simple salad of radish, feta, olives, walnuts and fresh herbs. We were given a large bottle of olive oil and some fresh lemon to dress our own salad. Such a good idea. I wish everyone else would follow suit.
I also really liked the way they cooked their rice - mostly plain white basmati with a little saffron soaked rice added. Fluffy rice heaven.
I would have to say that the diced cucumber, tomato and onion salad was rather bland - it could have done with some herbs to pep it up but overall the food went down a treat.
The bill, however, was around fifty quid. If this had been my home town of Harlesden, the price would have been closer to thirty pounds. Still, I would rather pay over the odds whilst knowing that what I put into my gob results in a highly pleasurable eating experience.

I'm not an expert on persian food but I've been there twice and none of the food I've ordered fail me. Absolutely loving the food! The place is lovely but I wish it has more authentic persian decor.
It is an amazing place on trendy Portobello Road. food is great. friendly staff.
They offer delivery and take away. Had my B-day in there. we all love it. was so much fun.I got delivery from them, was very prompt, love the packaging. We will be visiting them for Nowrouz-Persian New Year.
This place has the best humus I have ever eaten. The chicken was juicy and flavorful and the presentation was on par with all 5 star restaurants. A beautiful interior and a beautiful meal.
The experience was very good overall. Only the rice served with the fish and chicken could be better.
I love Anar restaurant because of its delicious yummy food and lovely atmosphere with great drinks menu. This must be one of THE best Persian restaurants in London. Beautiful Roya was an amazing hoast and help us with menu options. In fact her love and care is what made our dinning so special. It's been a truly wonderful experience in this part of town so highly recommend Anar for any food lovers. Will be returning again & again.
Excellent eatery in a very cosmopolitan part of London. Try the ghormeh sabzi which is excellent. The kebabs, both chicken and meat, are excellent and succulent too. The manager, Roya, was a dream of a host. Bubbly, knowledgeable and very pleasant. Will definitely be visiting this place again and I have no hesitations recommending it. Keep up the excellent work.
I haven't had the chance to visit the restaurant in person, but I ordered deliveroo from here and I have to say, the food was amazing, very reasonable price and good portions. It tasted very authentic and fresh. Would highly recommend.
The food here is really good but the night we went (Friday) was empty, I mean we were the only ones there and the service was pretty rubbish considering. Apart from that, good portion sizes and really nice food.
First time that we had Persian food. The two waiters were extremely friendly and quick. The food was very delicious. The chicken and lamb skewer have been very tasty. I can recommend this restaurant to everyone.
I used to live in the area (which is lovely by the way, no matter what some people might say) and I love persian food and have tried many restaurants around in London. This persian restaurant was so good, the chicken and lamb was so tender, and rice always cooked perfectly. I remember the staff was really nice, and the place was lovely decorated. I was surprised it was SO empty when we were there, but that was when they had recently opened, so maybe that was why. I hope they have a lot more customers now, because they deserve it! I will definitely go back even if I live in a different area of London now.
Four Stars for food and service, the meal came to about £20-30 a head, but only because there was a large group of us and we had quite a bit of wine.
Living in Ladbroke Grove, I have to agree with the other reviewer, the cafe opposite is somewhat menacing looking, but to avoid Anar completely, based on its locale is a mistake. The food is excellent and the waiters were very friendly. I took my nan for a meal and when she dropped her cutlery (twice) they immediately brought her more, with a smile and without a fuss.
This said, the area is not the nicest end of Portobello Market and I would definately recommend meeting at the station, not outside if you are alone.
I love Anar restaurant. My husband and I go there frequently. We love their food. I have tried their chicken, lamb and eggplant appetizer, they taste extremely fresh and delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.
It was very nice time and our waitress was roya very lovely and help us with menu and i was fantastic hosted I gone visit again to see nose smail from roya
Food is actually really delicious. This is my regular restaurant and I'm coming back every time without any disappointments. I do recommend for everyone to try for ex. Koobieh with rice . Enjoy ! Oh, by the way I know as well that there is a new management.
Food was incredible and very authentic. The chicken kebab and koobideh were outstanding. My only critique is that the restaurant is extremely quiet, so it makes it a little uncomfortable while you're eating. It would be great if they turned up the music a bit.
The whole experience was great with attentive staff Roya and a relaxed environment to dine in and enjoy your friends company!
The big bonus was the food, well done!
Very tasty dishes, very good service, even our Iranian friends loved the food
I go here all the time it's next to where I live, one of my favourite restaurants food and service is always perfect. If you want to experience 5* real Persian food at a reasonable price go here...highly recommended.
I literally cannot point out one single thing which I dislike about this place. Food, service, atmosphere, decor and even the background music is something you wont be able to find in another Persian restaurant in London! Trust me, I've been to many and by far this one stands way ahead of the others.
