Reviews Carluccio's

Carluccio's has a good ambience, with a deli like area on one side and the main restaurant on the other. I ordered the penne alla luganica - the sauce was quite tasty but overall the dish was a bit boring and I wish I'd ventured for something more interesting like the tortelloni with venison.

Carluccio's is quite a popular chain - when we were eating we were delighted to have English comedian and director Steven Merchant sitting in front of us! If he likes it then it must be pretty good.

Carluccio’s is the place to amble to after a nice long morning walk if you are in that area. Lovely cafe offering one of the best pancakes I have ever had! A generous plate of those crepes will cost £4.95. Served with eternal favourites like yogurt, honey and berries

The other recommended breakfast special to indulge in is their Colazione consisting of scrambled eggs, stir-fried mushrooms, grilled pancetta etc. served with toasted Italian bread. If you combine the last with your choice of tea or coffee and juice then that whole deal is called Colazione Magnifica – worth trying as a super breakfast combo.

They have a two-course and a three-course fixed menu as well. You may prefer to just combine a hot beverage with a plate of their awesome Italian biscuits or the Piatto di Biscotti. One can never return disappointed from Carluccio’s for sure!

Update March 2019. Back to five stars with the food up to top standard. Ongoing complaint that the new children's menu is lacklustre and penny pinching, but helpful staff can sometimes substitute frome the main menu and put everything right again! can sometimes be the best in the group, but food quality can be hit and miss, Service is always sparkling

Fab ambiance and food. Friendly staff and place is busy so if you’re in haste, go someplace else. If you can spare the time, worth it. The looks are spotless too!!

The place is nice and clean, the staff are helpful and polite. I tried classic eggs with salmon and that was wow. I also had Italian French toast and that was also up to the challenge. Their pistachio croissant is the top of the whole experience.

After having so nice dishes at home by delivery, we actually visited the place, which fully satisfied what we expected. I strongly recommend tiramisu for desert.

Carluccio's is beautifully situated on Rosslyn Hill, just down from Hampstead High Street, so it's easy to reach yet still at the heart of gorgeous scenery. At peak times it can be quite busy, but it's rarely impossible to find a seat. They have an abundance of outdoor seating, and the indoor seating area is quite spacious. The prices are reasonable, and their coffee is delicious!

We had a great time with 6 kids and 6 adults. The service was good and the staff pleasant and very welcoming. But we got there for a booking previously made for 11.30am. Not so good was the experience of several other customers who waited for over 30 minutes for their food. Indeed several people were heard complaining about the poor service and saying they would never come again. I felt sorry for the staff who were short staffed to deal with the demand both front of house and in the kitchen. They had to take the abuse and the complaints. Matching demand with capacity is never easy in the food business but I would have expected better planning from the management especially when dealing with the usually high expectations of Hampstead customers

Excellent location, quite a few parking spaces across the road costing about 2.80 an hour. Food was amazing only came in for a full breakfast, full pot of tea given with fresh juice with the breakfast, service was good and efficient. One slight drawback was time it took to receive food after ordering good 10-15mins.. I was also fairly hungry at the time so naturally eager to eat. Definitely recommend. Dinner and lunch is a next try!

An absolutely amazing Italian restaurant with a beautiful ambience and fabulous vegetarian options! The staff were very friendly, especially Greta (Thank you!) who made our dining experience extra special with her recommendations! My birthday celebration couldn't have been better. Thank you ever so much 😀🙏

Love this place. Food is high quality and portions are a good size. The best thing about it though is the friendly and welcoming staff. There’s an Italian lady who seems to be the manager; she’s funny, professional and offers a perfectly authentic experience. Will be going back.

Good place to have a bite to eat and a drink, food is pretty ok, nothing amazing but if you like a decent pasta for a reasonable price then good to go. Can be loud at lunchtime with a lot of kids running around, so if you want a quiet lunch best to go off peak. Also they have a nice outside area good for a summers day.

Decent place for breakfast. Decent fare. The staff is very nice and helpful. Best place in Hampstead to meet for an early business meeting. Their selection of dishes is not the widest but I would recommend the eggs benedict.
