The Rye is a refurbed but still charmingly rustic gastropub. There's with plenty of seating inside and a huge beer garden for the warmer weather. The service is friendly and efficient.
There's both a restaurant and bar menu so plenty of choice for dining. I had the veggie & lentil burger from the bar menu, which was tasty and super-filling!
They have a decent range of beer on tap and offer a few craft beers in their selection. Prices for both food and drink are standard for a London pub.
Definitely a great pub for a drink or meal with friends.
Sunday roast was pretty decent, the pork and chicken was good, lovely veg and loads of gravy. On a Sunday they don’t have the full kids menu, only burgers, fish and chips and roast. Crispy fries and burgers went down well with the kids.
Only discovered this pub recently after it being recommended by a friend. Due to the location we decided to book a space for my husband’s birthday party. It was perfect! We had a corner reserved outside, all the staff were very attentive despite it being really busy. When the rain came much later they had a magic canopy appear above our heads and there were even heaters so we didn’t have to move inside. The food was amazing. One thing I would say is order your food early as a lot of the delicious offerings were sold out (chicken wings & tofu) but the vegan burger and Korean cauliflower were amazing so thumbs up all round. As a tequila and fresh lime drinker , I was relieved they had both as not everywhere does. We will be back.
I always walk past this pub and I've heard good things about it. I decided to go inside for a drink this bank holiday. The vibe is nice and very chill. The star of the show is the outside patio in the back. The sun was shinning and it was such a beautiful day. I didn't order any food but it smelt and looked very appetising. I will try some when I visit again.
I had the beef roast and the toffee desert. I would say the roast was not phenomenal but still quite good and especially the size of the portion you get is better than in other restaurants! The toffee was outstanding. So good. Allover with a good service experience definitely 5 stars. Nice outside location also in the back.
Quiet lunchtime. Burger and chips plus a pint for £16. Limited-over cricket showing silently on screen. Very helpful service at the bar, and other staff seemed pleasant - making eye-contact and acknowledging our presence. The lunch was tasty.
It's a hard time (still, especially at lunchtimes) for pubs, and there were few other customers. The Angel Oak has loads of space, inside and out. We sat in the front bar, and it was a comfortable place to be. The sun was shining and the view, back from the road, was relaxing.
We will return.
Amazing food and drink. You'll pay central London prices in a non central location, and run the risk of getting stabbed in the local area, but I think it's worth it.
Me and my boyfriend came here on a Sunday evening and enjoyed the roast beef which was amazing. Top quality beef and service always on point. Food came quickly and everything tasted very fresh. Just a formative feedback but this would be me being very picky: the Yorkshire pudding could be a bit crispy while the one you served was very soggy. Overall our experience at this place was super pleasant.
Highly appreciated the waiter who offered us some free puddings as the kitchen closed. Appreciated the waste reduction.
I had a lovely lunch time deal where I chose the burger meal. It was delicious, portion size was great and the atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming. The garden is beautiful and I look forward to some evenings in the back garden with friends and family.
Very busy atmosphere, which shows it is a popular destination.
We sat in the restaurant for our roast. It is one of the best roasts I have ever eaten. Cauliflower cheese is available as an extra, which me and my friend and I shared. The food was delicious and I can't wait to go back.
Bonus is it is in walking distance from peckham Common, so you can have an afternoon stroll after lunch.
The girls on the bar were super friendly and welcoming! The mackerel rillettes were tasty but the ratio between the crackers to mackerel made no sense at all, either decrease the amount or crackers or increase the fish, I hate to waste food but I didn't fancy eating 6 dry leftover crackers. Overall I did have a lovely time in the beer garden
