Just been to this bustling branch of pizza Express, a brand I've always been really fond of. I don't think it's ever really disappointed in years of on/off custom. The service was great and, for a branch that must groan under the weight of passing tourist custom, our visit felt remarkably intimate and personal. It was loud and bustling, but clean and relaxing. A fine line well negotiated, and a commendable achievement.

You know the music is the food of the soul. If you say that both my stomach and my soul should be fulfilled, you should try this place. It has a small but pleasant scene. And the food is great.

Yes I am reviewing Pizza Express.

I was a ”virgin” to Pizza Express before last week. Then, after an email received suggesting a Jazz and Pizza night, I wrongly booked it for 8 people, without even understanding I was booking Pizza Express and paying 20 pounds (food excluded) for listening to Jazz.

It was not a great start of the week when my friends let me notice I just paid with my card 160 pounds upfront to go to Pizza Express. How could I have been so distracted not to notice the big brand symbol? I still don’t have an answer to this.
My first reaction was to call back the restaurant and immediately cancel the reservation. Then my friend said: “it’s gonna be a fun night, let’s keep it”. And dragged me to this place.

We entered the restaurant at 8pm on a Thursday and it was completely empty. The ambience was horrible, very strong lights, view on the kitchen (definitely not the fancy kitchen I want to see while I eat) and a lot of empty tables. My immediate though was “this is not going to be a fun night”.

Then the waiter guided us down the stairs and the ambience changed completely. Dark blue lights, nicer tables, full room with people dressed definitely too well for Pizza Express and a big stage. I discovered this place is a “big thing” for jazz, as many famous jazz groups played at least once here.

The food was still as horrible as I was expecting it to be, but the Jazz was very good. It ended up being a very nice evening with very good music.

Yes, I am really saying it, I would definitely go back to this Pizza Express to listen to another performance.

The Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho is one of the most iconic music venues in London. Since 1976 this small and intimate basement setting has hosted thousands of world-renowned jazz artists, including Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse, Jamie Cullum and Gregory Porter, as well as encouraging emerging artists. It has won many awards and was named ‘Venue of the Year’ in both 2015 and 2016 by London Lifestyle Awards.

On arrival the staff were very attentive and looked after us throughout our time there. There is a wide selection of food and you can change anything you like on your pizza. The kitchen is open and you can see everything they are doing.
We had a starter of garlic bread to share...next time we will get a starter to each as it was a small portion...
Overall, we had a perfect date night and will definitely go again :)

Pizza Express is a decent Italian chain that offers thin and crispy pizzas. American hot with roquito peppers is my regular; I add chilli flakes to it because I absolutely love spicy food. Good sized portion - I usually finish the whole thing, but then feel like I'm in a food coma after.

For starters I love the doughballs and bruschetta. The doughballs come with yummy melted butter, which can even be used to dip the crusts of your pizza in! Bruschetta is flavourful and has a nice blend of textures with the tomatoes, onions and basil on the freshly baked bread.

All of the restaurants have a relaxed and casual vibe for anyone who wants an Italian meal. Pizza Express have many offers that I get by email, which makes the trip even more pleasing!

Pizza Express caters to everybody. Its inoffensive menu is aimed at appealing to the masses and provides a wide and varied selection of thin pizzas, one of which at least you will definitely fall in love with.

I always start with the dough balls. Sure they come with garlic butter which leaves a rather strong flavor, but the dough balls are warm, soft and most importantly they are yummy!

Now for mains, I've only had their pizzas. My personal favourite is the Fiorentina; spinach, fried egg, mozzarella, tomato, and black olives. It is common to find that at the end of a lot of pizza meals there is a bundle of crusts left over. The crusts as Pizza Express are really thin and not too bready. With the Fiorentina you can dip the crusts into the runny egg in the middle and it is perfect!

I often visit Pizza Express on a Wednesday as it is part of the Orange Wednesday deal (buy one get one free on starters, and a main meal).

Overall, Pizza Express is one of the better Italian chains, but it is quite average in its approach to food, focusing on safe meals that will be sure to satisfy.

We use Pizza Express a couple of times a month. Always little busy as expected but still gave good service! Very upmarket for a chain - the food was incredible. However, I cannot say the same thing for Lasagne Verde. The restaurants are clean and reasonable priced.

I visited here for the Jazz club in the basement. I had pre booked for the Steve Howe Trio who were amazing and it was full but I understand that some night you can just turn up and see if there is space for whichever act is on. The show isn't expensive, I paid ÂŁ25 entrance for this top notch performer and others can be less.

The menu is the standard Pizza Express menu so you know exactly what you are getting. I had be dough balls to start and the Calzone salami for my main. Both cooked I perfection and if you've never had Calzone pizza I would highly recommend it. For desert I had the fudge cake which was light and tasty served with ice cream. The bottle of Merlot I had was reasonably priced and tasted good.

The place opens about 2 hours before the show and service commences swiftly. Some dishes were still being served during the performance for late arrivals and slow eaters but service was conducted respectfully and discretely so that you could enjoy the show.

If you like your music with a jazz edge and your food with an Italian flavour then you must do yourself a favour and go here. I think it seats about 120-150 so lovely and intimate for a music venue.

I am a complete goner for thin crust pizza, and after eating at Pizza Express I think even a pizza in the best pizzeria of Rome will not make me happy !!! If you still do not believe me u need to go check it out for yourself... If you are familiar with Indian food, the crust will actually remind you of Roomali Roti! And yet it was so crisp !!! I am gonna be obsessing about if for months ! It was just the two of us, so we first ordered garlic bread with cheese, again so flawless it actually hurts to eat garlic bread anywhere else now ! The proportion of cheese was absolutely perfect too !
For the pizza we customised our own, and it was just the way we expected it to be ! There is also free wifi and the service is super quick ! Do try some garlic flavoured butter over your pizza... It adds this crazy twist to the pizza !!! Only thing that is sad is that the meat is not halal... Even so, a vegetarian pizza that good deserves to be eaten again and again !

When it comes to pasta or pizza, you're spoiled for choice here. The oldest chain, Pizza Express, in 1965 and now has more than 400 restaurants across the country (there are often good discount on the web). You eat good all simple pizzas with seasonal ingredients in a blue and white decor.

You have been to one pizza express you have been to them all, so I am not going to bother going through the ins and outs of the menu, style, service, value for money, etc as you all know it.

So what sets this place apart from the rest? Jazz @ Pizza express

You head downstairs to a low lit room that serves up some of the best jazz performances in london, I'm not particularly up on who's who in Jazz but i think this place attracts many big names!

You do not need to be a member but you will have to book in advance. There is a very warm atmosphere and as it is quite small it is quite intimate with the musicians on stage, just about close enough to talk to!

To be honest I'm not a huge pizza express fan but the jazz adds another element to it, you wouldn't really know you are in a pizza express. So for an evening with a difference, even if you are not a huge jazz fan this is worth a go as an experience

Found this place by sheer chance whilst searching live venues in Soho. You enter the club via stairs leading to the basement behind the main Pizza Express restaurant. Inside is an intimate jazz club, almost from an old film. In fact I felt as though I was back in my favourite jazz clubs off NYC. There is a small stage, with intimate tables and cute red velvet booths in a dark and moody club. The menu is obviously all Pizza Express and very nice. The cocktails were delicious. The staff were very attentive and always available to take orders. The band were great! Will definitely be returning, and also planning to visit their piano bar in Covent Garden.

The food you know and love with live Jazz whislt you eat, Martin Taylor was fantastic. Really great atmosphere. The music played for just over an hour and a half, service was smooth whilst the music was playing and payment taken after the performance is over.

Go to for family and friends special occasions. Pre dinner for Ronnie Scott's. Food and drinks excellent and exceptional service from Sami. Accommodated 14 of us (was originally 20). Jazz bar downstairs a surprise addition especially as found out a colleague from Manchester will be playing soon.

Lovely little restaurant. Food was really tasty, cocktails were delicious. Service was a little slow, but the staff were very friendly. Would recommend — very nice in the summer with large double doors that open giving fresh air and lots of light.

We had the pleasure of visiting this fantastic underground jazz bar located beneath the Pizza Express in London with my wife, and I have to say that it was an absolutely amazing experience. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the incredible atmosphere and the live jazz music that filled the air. At first, we felt a little lost and confused as to where the jazz bar was located, but as soon as we asked the Pizza Express staff for directions, they pointed us towards a small spiral staircase in the corner of the restaurant that led us down to the jazz club below. Once we arrived at the jazz bar, we were amazed by the rich and well-established history of the venue. This is a place where some of the biggest names in jazz have performed, including Amy Winehouse, Sting, and Gregory Porter. The music was absolutely phenomenal, and we couldn't help but feel completely immersed in the atmosphere. One of the highlights of our visit was meeting a server named Darvish, who has been working at the jazz bar for over 20 years. He was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and made our visit even more memorable. As visitors from Texas, we were only in London for a short period of time, but visiting this jazz bar was without a doubt the highlight of our trip. We were so impressed with the atmosphere, the music, and the amazing staff that we have decided that we will forever and always make this a must-visit spot anytime we are in London. Overall, I cannot recommend this jazz bar enough. If you're a fan of live music and jazz, you simply have to visit this amazing underground venue. From the moment you step through the doors, you will be transported to another world, filled with incredible music, amazing drinks, and a truly unforgettable experience. The McCarthy’s

For the live music downstairs you have to pay an extra ticket but the music on the loudspeakers upstairs was really nice too. Romana pizza was very good, with thin and crispy dough 🍕

We went there for Jazz. The music was amazing and the ticket price was reasonable. The pizza was small and the gluten-free base was just okay. It is a shame as there are a few restaurants that have much better gluten free pizzas nearby. We will be considering eating elsewhere before visiting for the music.

Pizza Express Live was a fun experience. Dine and enjoy live music afterwards. For music the you like, you should book in advance. I had Carbonara & Honeycomb cake and both were good. The place in Dean Street is nice, with great ambiance and cozy. For our group of 4 we had the booth which was nice. The staff was very good. Will definitely come again.
