Have drank here for years on and off, was in there last night and the owner was handing out tasters from the soon to be launched new menu, food was amazing!! Beautiful and friendly (not a combination you always find) staff, great cocktails ... All in all a fantastic little boozer in the heart of the west end!
Fab little find, late night London. Small, casual, very friendly staff and a great DJ the night we were there! đđ»

Friendly great customer service
This is one of my favourite pubs in London:) I lived in London for a year & visited this place very often. A snug little pub with an amazing cosy vibe, friendly staff, decently priced drinks, good food, great location & awesome dance nights:) I really love the Old Crown:)
Great Food, Location and Staff. I went in expecting heavy, and overcooked food but found a great gastropub meal. I had the Sunday Roast which was perfectly cooked pork belly, crisply steamed vegetables, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding with a light gravy. My wife had the fish and chips which was also excellent. Good beer. Helpful, friendly staff and just a couple of blocks away from the British Museum. Best British food of my trip.
Last night I went to The Old Crown Public House  to taste burgers and chicken wings. The Chef shared his love of cooking by the originality of these recipes with contrasting aromas and flavors. My favourite recipes  were The O.C Burger and the WTF !! The O.C. Burger breakout is definitely worth going along to (probably not during work hours like we did) so you can chill out with mates have some good sharing food. I am very intrigued to try these drunken cow milkshakes, apparently the salted caramel one with dolche de leche, pretzels (!) and bourbon is amazing, but opinions are best left until I've actually tried it. All the more reason for another visit hopefully soon. I'll be sure to update this post when I try some other part of the menu.
If you're looking for a super central, easy to access, reasonably quiet place for Sunday lunch, look no further. Close to the British museum, ultra friendly staff welcome you in and make your stay well worth it. Great decor too, somewhere between a decadent mansion and a sticky floored traditional pub, nice. The roast was delightful, mixing in a twist of the Mediterranean. Flan style Yorkie was slightly undercooked but still delightful. The roasties and veg were perfect, nice malty gravy and perfectly succulent meat. Great portions and superb price. Would recommend to anyone.
3 months after his successful Pop-up at Chad's Place, Dave Ahern is back with a permanent, and even more adventurous, venture in the heart of London, a stone's throw from the British Museum. The foundation of the menu is built on those burgers at the pop up, so the whiskey beast, swine time, the Bambi Bought it, and the baa-baa baby. In addition to these are the OC burger (with Devon Long Horn patty), the camilla burger (chicken burger), and the 'I don't need your bull' veggie option. Each comes with it's own bespoke sauce befitting it's own meat. The choices don't stop there though with steak, chicken wings (10 different sauces!),... each dish has it's own unique twist, with undoubtably a lot of labour (and love) required to go into each of them.
With our burgers we also got 2 lots of chicken wings, I'd been recommended the thai green curry, and also the guinness flavoured, and also onion rings for good measure. The burgers eventually came up from the depths below, presented on little wooden boards. Well beast by name beast by nature, these were not made in half measures, technically challenging to eat. Each Beast has a sourdough bun, whiskey mustard, 2 pieces treacle cured bacon, strathdon blue cheese, and of course the dry orkeney aged beef patty. Each burger comes with fries with horseradish salt. Didn't really get much of a hint of horseradish from these at all, which even in small doses can be quite powerful. The burger itself was epic, if perhaps too much mustard for my liking. The patty is perfectly cooked medium rare.
However, consistency is obviously hard to come by and while on occassions have marvelled in there monsterous burgers, other times have been a tad underwhelmed, particulary with the vension burger, which was far too rich and the patty very packed making it difficult to finish.
Burger breakout is definitely worth going along to so you can chill out with mates have some good sharing food.

Nice place to hang with friends. Menu isnât substantial so donât expect a proper meal. They only have some Mexican tacos and quesadillas as small bites. We ordered the drinks special - 2 for 1.
My previous workplace was close to a pub, so I used to go there with my customers and staff to take a break after work. Today, after quitting my job, I went with the staff who had been working for me for the first time in a long time. The staff welcomed me and gave me a shot because I was a regular. I asked him if he remembered me and he said yes of course, which made me very happy. I haven't written a review yet, but I thought this pub really valued its regulars See you soon
Thank you so much!!
From dear Japanese and Chinese customers.
Close to both the British Museum and the Holborn Station.
A brilliant selection of beers to try before buying and outside seats.
This place is an absolute dream for vegans! I was almost overwhelmed by the menu, and frankly I'd order one of everything if I could possibly eat that much. Beyond the food, the prices are more than fair and the staff is super friendly. Lastly, it's a beautiful and cozy establishment. I have been to many nice pubs in my time, but this has to be my favourite.
Went to celebrate my mates 60th birthday ,loved all three floors must of been 60 stairs ! Hope I don't get invited to his 100th
My friends and I decided to visit this bar for a casual evening of drinks. As we approached the entrance, the security staff claiming that the bar was closing ahead of schedule. However, we saw through their ruse and insisted on entering.
Once inside, we were met with a different story altogether. The attentive bar staff informed us of the actual operating hours, which contradicted the false information provided by the security team. It was quite the rollercoaster of events!
While we managed to enjoy our evening eventually, it's worth noting the questionable conduct of the security personnel at the door. Their attempt to deceive us about the bar's closing time left us scratching our heads. It's important for future visitors to be aware of this peculiar situation and approach the bar with caution.
In the end, we couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of the situation. Despite the initial hiccups, we made the most of our time at the bar. However, we feel it's essential to share our experience and warn others about the dodgy security practices at the entrance.
So, if you're planning a visit to this establishment, keep your wits about you and be prepared for a slightly unconventional entrance. Happy imbibing, and may you have smoother encounters with the security staff than we did!
We went in just for beer this afternoon. They offered Rivertown Pilsner and IPA. The best drafts weâve found in London so far. It was a great location, close to the British Museum but quiet and relaxing inside. Staff was very friendly and personable.
Stumbled on this place looking for a pit stop in central London and was impressed. Karaoke room for hire looked pretty decent as well. Staff friendly, patrons all sound. Good spot to know!
Very cosy and nice little pub. We had very tasty mulled wine that warm us up that cold sunny Saturday.
Lovely environment but bit pricey. Almost perfect pour of Guinness
Got a free drink so 5 stars
Really prompt service. Nice food. Homemade would be nice but good quality anyway
awesome place with the most chill and helpful bartender I've ever met: he provided us with a knife and napkins for a big birthday cake cake we brought, let us extend our karaoke room booking way past our original end time, and gave us all a free shot of delicious cazcabel which is now my new favourite spirit.
10/10 service, have starred this place in my maps and will be returning with mates whenever I'm in the area.
We use a function room upstairs every week and it's good each time. The drinks are a little spenny but it is in central London do....
It doesn't really have food options, but it's a good choice for those who likes to drink beer and it's not an expensive place.
Decent old pub in London, beers on but not great range, all a bit samey
Great bar! Fantastic for parties they have 2 rooms that you can reserve, the one on the second floor has its own bar! Nice deco and good cocktails. Very nice ambiance and music, ideal to hangout with friends on Friday night. They also have a selection of beers and wine
