Went yesterday for the first time (it won’t be the last) we had to wait a little while for a table but happily stood in the queue with a glass of fizz (bought from the bar) whilst we waited. Breakfast in Bread did not disappoint. We had the Original and the Salmon on and share another bottle of fizz and had coffee. All was delicious. Great service, wonderful staff, kept people in the queue waiting informed. I will be back!

My friend had her 40th here, its a great venue for a party, intimate cozy surroundings in the room at the back, perfect for a celebration with very friendly staff, a decent selection of drinks at reasonable prices. Did not eat but the food looked good. Would absolutely recommend.

One of my favourite places in London. Excellent food and selected ingredients. I highly recommend the salmon or veggie breakfast in bread. Great staff too! Definitely a 5 star experience !

Great food in a superb location. Went here for my birthday and they were very accommodating - very grateful to both Debbie and Harriet. All of the people who came raved about the food and was impressed with the drinks available too. Would recommend.

Lovely food. I had the lunch specials: shrimp with sourdough bread and also a fennel & radish salad. Beautifully presented food and really tasty. The venue looked great. The waitresses were really friendly and knew the menu well. Lovely atmosphere, watching the barge boats go by. Great way to spend a lazy afternoon.

Booked for a reservation for 2 for a Breakfast in Bread brunch a few weeks back as we've known that tables could be difficult to book during weekends. Arrived there a bit late but we were accommodated nicely. Ordered their classic Breakfast in Bread, Full English, and it was soooo good. The concept is ingenious. Full English breakfast inside a massive sourdough bread, which is very good in itself, topped with runny-yolk egg, cheese and some herbs. It was sooo good and the serving size is hefty. Ordered some iced coffee as well. And don't forget the desserts: we had the walnut and raspberry slice and it's just heavenly. Can't wait to come back and try all the rest on their menu. Definitely one of the best kept secrets in London brunching!!!

To enjoy a beautiful morning, we went for a nice stroll along the canal until we reached the Barge House, for our booked brunch. Protip: get a reservation, as it is quite busy, even at 10am. The breakfast in bread is a great concept, my family does somethig similar but as a starter for our family reunion dinners. I had the original, my girlfriend the salmon one. I preferred the original, as it is a least common combination (it's not like I haven't had salmon, dill and creme freche a thousand times). The bread is good but the star of the dish are all the other ingredients that fill the hollow bread shell. It is as tasty as it is filling; no lunch was had that day. It took effort to finish mine. The place is lovely and everyone wears a genuine smile like it were the house's uniform. It is very busy and these delicassies do take their time to be prepared, so expect to not have a quick bite and leave. The price is a bit too high for the food, but it is justified by the surrounding and the hype.

Breakfast in bread - the best invention since sliced bread... Great seasoning and ingredients make up this treat. Too heavy to start the day, but perfect for a brunch that will see you through 'till dinner. Great service, too.

What: Breakfast Bread for Brunch

Where: Haggerston, London, UK

Value: £15pp

Food Review: To eat: one vegetarian and one smoked salmon breakfast in bread. To drink: the orange one. The vegetarian is filled with slow roasted tomatoes, spinach, leeks, oyster mushrooms, avocado, topped with a free range egg and sprinkled with cheese. The smoked salmon is filled with spinach, mushroom, leeks, smoked salmon, crème fraiche & topped with a free range egg & sprinkled with cheese. As the vegetarian does not have any sauce the bread can be a bit heavy and can take over, whereas the smoked salmon does have a sauce allowing you to soak the bread. The cooling juice consisting of orange, carrot and ginger is recommended on a hot summers day and definitely if you have a cold as the strength of the ginger does pack a punch.

Location Review: Situated alongside the canal, within walking distance from Haggerston station, this laid back cafe provides a urban outdoor setting for a lazy morning, afternoon or night, with views that overlook the passing barge. This picturesque setting is perfect for romantic settings aswell.

Interior Review: With ground floor space, a mezzanine and outdoor for sunny days, there is plenty of room to chill or work. Its chilled out vibes are resonated through its décor of bleached wooden tables and simple wooden chairs.

Halal: N/A

Sum up: Looking for a lazy breakfast, then this is the place for you to chill out and unwind. Be warned the breakfast in bread is heavy, so perhaps a drink instead.

Great coffee and food in a beautifully romantic setting alongside the canal. I headed here on a sunny weekday afternoon for lunch.

I sat by the large windows in the cafe-come-bar, and ordered the Cauliflower Steak. When it arrived I was shocked at just how beautiful the dish was. Thankfully it tasted just as good as it looked, maybe even better. Each bite of my cauliflower steak revealed a new flavour - I didn't want it to end. If anyone thought cauliflower was boring, this dish would change their minds!

The presentation here certainly matches the quality of the food, and I could tell that the chef puts a lot of love into the dishes he creates. The food here is ridiculously good, better than I could have hoped for. I will definitely be heading back for more - and to try the Breakfast in Bread!

This has been on my to visit list for a while. Finally made it there today and it was well worth it. The food tasted as incredible as it looks, all cooked perfectly. The setting right next to the canal was fantastic. Indoor and outdoor seating if the weather allows it! Staff were very friendly and I heard them talking through the menu items to others. Even one of the local geese tried to sneak in! Must be good. Overall this place is a real treat to find and I would highly recommend a visit.

Came here for my birthday & have to say - it was fantastic. The location is ideal, right next to the canal, the venue has a real buzz to it, lots of people in. Good menu and extensive drinks list. The breakfast in bread was very tasty indeed as well as very filling. The staff were very accommodating of a large group and extremely attentive. Would like to thank both Debbie & Harriet for helping to facilitate the event. I had a group of 19 and not one person had a bad thing to say about this place, will be recommending it to others. One of the best brunches I've had in London (and I've had many!)

I thought this was going to be bad - I mean, who stuffs bread rolls full of anything and everything? The Hot Stuff actually really good, and my wife's salmon one (I don't know the name) seemed OK too. The place was very busy on a Sunday afternoon, and we queued for maybe 15min - but the staff were very friendly and efficient, and not pretentious hipsters, so it was OK. Only two things which I didn't personally like: small non-alcoholic drinks menu, and the seating - we were so close to the couple next to us that we couldn't think.

I went to this place by the canal a few weeks ago and I was surprised about the main breakfast food that they serve. I have never seen this kind of bread bowl and you can choose different ones: the bowl with full english breakfast + a lot of veggies or even one with Salmon. Food was is delicious and I will repeat again. Just with this breakfast you can skip lunch for the whole day. I recommend going early (10:00) as there can be long queues. Besides, it can feel a bit crowded sometimes. Overall a place to repeat when the weather is nice.

Eggs can’t get more interesting... and great coffee We went for a brunch on a Saturday we booked online and sat on at the mezzanine. If you like eggs and sourdough then you surely will not be disappointed. We tried for they Smokey and vegetarian options which were both good. The prices are not cheap but you can’t to compare to and eggs and cress sandwich in the local grocery store. The place and ambiance were good, staff was friendly including the chef Fred. Surely will go back again.

Really nice place situated by the canal. Came here for the breakfast in bread. Would recommend to book for 10am as otherwise they don’t take bookings and get very busy. Service was friendly and efficient. We had the Hot Stuff (Chorizo), Smoked Salmon and 2 coffees. Both were tasty. 4 stars as it was a little pricy relative to the portion.

We went on a Sunday around 11.30am and boy was it a popular time. We had to wait at least 30 minutes for a table (expected) and then once ordered I think it was probably close to another 45 minutes for the food. They were so busy and perhaps they were understaffed that day. The food was delicious and very generous - would go back to try the other flavours (but I would definitely go a lot earlier or perhaps after peak lunch).

The Barge House offers delicious breakfast/brunch/lunch options canal side. The sourdough bread option is a must try - yet to try anything quite like it. It gets quite busy quickly on the weekend so I’d recommend booking a table or turning up when it’s not so busy.

Great food and nice location, especially when the weather is nice. The ‘Breakfast In Bread’ was massive and big enough for two to share. We opted for a loaf filled with spinach, leeks, smoked salmon, crème fraiche & topped with a free range egg & sprinkled with cheese.

Pretty little spot to have a delicious breakfast/ brunch by the canal. We tried different versions of its famous "Breakfast in Bed" and we loved it - the pictures we took were quite impressive as well :) Nothing like the brunches we usually have. It's quite filling though so I would recommend just getting this and a coffee/ juice. I think a pre-booking is necessary because it gets really busy and, otherwise, you might need to queue for a while. Definitely worth a try!

Excellent weekend Brunch in a lovely riverside location. Super-friendly staff. Just be aware if you book Brunch at 10, you can't have a Bloody Mary until 11. And they are definitely worth having!

Location is amazing busy place which is always a good sign. Came here sunday for lunch we was seated straight away. We was seated upstairs which was nice would have prefered down stairs but there wasn't any space. Best things to eat here are the bread bowl things hahaha have uploaded photos... best way to eat them is cut them bread and tare the rest with your hands. Our server was very attentive and polite.... definitely would recommend this place

Situated a short stroll from my house, on Regents canal right by the water's edge, this location could not be better given this current weather we are having in London. Plenty of tables outside or options of seating inside, but even so I'd recommend getting here early as it gets incredibly busy! (Although it was super busy, I must congratulate the team for handling it exceptionally and delivering great service and waiting times). Today was my first visit. I decided to go for the breakfast in bread. Who knew breakfast could be better than in bed by stuffing it in bread! A little on the pricey side in my opinion, but polite welcoming service and this cracking carb loaded breakie/brunch alternative makes it worth a go! Nice drink selection, covering a solid choice of drinking options including some simple cocktails and familiar beers. Great spot for the morning after, can imagine this being a treat for those in recovery mode especially given world cup fever. My picture is the breakfast in bread "the original", sausage, bacon, tomato, onions, mushrooms, greens, topped with cheese and a perfectly baked runny egg 👌🏼 Well worth a visit 👌🏼 thank you Bargehouse. Ordered “The Hot Stuff”, quite nice, but the sourdough stuff wasn’t really sourdough. Sunny, warm and along the canal, plus friendly staffs - no complaints!!

Really nice cafe with some great staff. It's different to the usual breakfast places. The breakfast in bread items are great, coffees are good, prices reasonable.
