Innovative & sustainable. Very friendly staff who go into a lot of detail on what each dish consists of, very intricate and delicious plates of food and great new cocktail experiences. Never had anything quite like it before. Quite possibly the best restaurant in East London!

The food is wonderful: deep, flavourful, rich. Only as we left did we realise the set menu that day was vegetarian. Shrooms on shrooms has gone straight into my all time top ten of dishes. So much so that we rather embarrassed ourselves by ordering it twice. In the middle of a 7 course tasting menu. That good.

Cub is the kind of place you want to keep secret so it doesnt get sooo busy that you can't get a table. Tucked away in the Hoxton area it has this amazing Mad manesque vibe. As part of the soft launch my friend and I went for the set menu and it didnt disappoint with unexpected pairing of flavour and drinks that did what it promised complementing the dishes. All dishes were vegetarian (another surprise) but very tasty and filling. My favourite was the purple carrots and blackberry with a wine sauce 😍Ill be back for sure!!!

Really loved Cub. We had the tasting menu for £45 which is amazing value for such colourfulness, creativity, and tastiness... on both the food and drink front. Service was impeccable, friendly and efficient and I loved the underlying sustainable outlook that they have. So much to go back for!

Food was light, tasty and sufficient. Cocktails were easily integrated between courses, which was a real surprise. All of the staff were chatty and engaging. The evening flew by, but we’ll do it again.

Amazing restaurant. I have been there three times and it has consistently been great. They only have a tasting menu so no need to make decisions and the portions are a perfect size to make you feel full but not uncomfortable. The drinks pairings are also great as they do a mixture of cocktails and wine. I would highly recommend

What an experience! A combination of calm, relaxed and warm service, with incredible beverage and delicious yet challenging food. The venue is a small, cosy little space with the chef's behind the bar on display. The decor is chic and comfortable, and erring on the side of clean and minimal. From the get go the service was outstanding. We didn't have a booking but we went downstairs to the awesome "Superlyan" for a cocktail and got sat very quickly. The maitre de took our bags and took us to our comfortable booth. The set menu cost £60 (£50 for non-alcoholic pairings) and consisted of 10 courses. My wife's pregnancy didn't fase them and they had a whole menu prepared with just us complex drink pairings. The Passion of the team is evident by the pride they take in their work. Big shout out to Jean-Ignace who elegantly demystified the technical aspects of the dishes and bigged up the provenance of the ingredients. I've left feeling inspired and comfortably full. The best thing is the menu changes regularly so can go back again for another culinary adventure. Thanks Team Cub for a wonderful evening! 🥃🍸🤤🦁

This was a special experience for us, 4 carnivores having a vegetarian (vegan apart from feta cheese in one of the dishes) meal and not even realising all the dishes were vegetarian until the last dish! Stand out dishes for us were the blood peach with cucumbers, mushrooms capers and turnips. The purple rice dish for us lacked depth and tasted like a knock off of the popular Thai dish purple rice and coconut. Wasn't sure if all the cocktails really brought out the flavours of the food. But the food in and of itself was creative and fun, and full of new combinations of flavours, and we really enjoyed our meal.

The concept emphasises the accompanying drinks as much as the food. It’s vegetarian, unfortunately, but they are going for a sustainable approach towards eating and in their view, meat and fish aren’t. The meal, as a result, isn’t as filling as it could be. It was however, very very good food. Unusual combinations and dishes were full of flavour, as were the drinks. We opted for the tasting menu, which at £45 isn’t expensive given this includes more than enough alcohol as well as food to feel relatively satiated. Stand out dish for me was the brined tomato starter. They were more than happy to accommodate a gluten free request and the service was attentive and very informative.

Veg only tasting menu with interesting focus on reducing waste and local sourcing. Friendly service, casual low-key vibe, and great, clean cocktails as you’d expect from the Lyan team.

Good value vegetarian taster menu, full of unusual ingredients and full of flavours. Any menu that begins with Krug is fine by me! Sustainability and supply chain is clearly important here. The only elements I didn't like we're the bizarrely laid out (and somewhat pretentious) menu and the rushed, but otherwise excellent service. Head next door for superb cocktails afterwards at their sister bar Super Lyan....!

Creative, thoughtful, and delicious balanced courses with sustainably sourced ingredients and inventive drink pairings by Mr. Lyan (of Dandelyan fame). Beautiful chic interior with repurposed materials. Good service, good vibes, and incredible food. One of the best in London.

Brilliant vegetarian restaurant in East London. The alcohol pairings are as inspired as the food. Michelin quality without the star. New favorite!

'Inventive' is a word I'd use to describe the dishes. Pictured is the Cyprus potato ice-cream with blackcurrants and fennel flower. "POTATO ICE-CREAM?" you cry. Hear me out 🙏 Hailing from Cornwall, the spuds are roasted with the skin separated from the flesh, imbuing flavour from the former that has almost caramelised in the roasting process, imparting a subtle sweetness. Blackcurrants encrusted in the transformed milky/anglais flesh provide an obvious hit of acidity. 🍇 The dish was inspired by a savoury course on the menu when @lyan.cub first opened. My take on it all? 🤔 Go with an open and curious mind. And be smug that you got to try potato ice-cream that didn't make you drool, but also didn't make you cry. I'd honestly rate it 6 if I could. Went here for a special meal and it definitely did not disappoint. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable and the food was truly fantastic. The menu is a tasting menu with cocktails to match each dish. The chef explained every single dish to us and their mission to avoid food waste is admirable. Truly loved it ♥️

Amazing restaurant with attentive staff. The food here is great...the menu changes weekly. Beautiful food and drink pairings. Really interesting flavours and textures and it's all as sustainable as possible (think using items that are normally discarded). To top it off its professional and casual in the best possible way. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and quite obviously are passionate about their jobs. A treat to share with someone special!

Inventive, concept led contemporary sustainable joint. Staff is cool and passionate. Set menu combining high end drinks and small dishes is a good deal for London (£67/person). Its a very good experience to broaden creativety and palate. However, we felt the dishes could be more complex and less sutil in flavor. Nonetheless, it's a very unique experience and worth a visit.

I've been twice and would have made another visit but for the fact that I cannot get a booking! The food and drink was incredible both times, with the menu slightly changing, which was great. And the decor is cool, I love the yellow/mint combination. The service was impeccable and fun and we felt well looked after. Everything is created with passion and intelligence and its a really interesting way to dine.
