Autumn time is here with the month of September. With there being a chill in the air, there is a need for hot food compared to the cold summer salads. Rosa’s Thai Cafe in Angel looks fairly small from the exterior. A few window seats enable you to sit and watch the world pass by. There is a bar area at the entrance. The first area of the restaurant is booth seating surrounded by wooden panels and beams.
Absolutely loved the pineapple fried rice, they made it vegetarian on request, the coconut milk soup was delicious! Loved the the presentation and staff, their cutlery is cute too! Would go back and recommend it for Thai food👌🏼
Fresh, authentic, delicious thai food and service with a smile !
I had been longing to try this place for a while and got the opportunity today for having a lunch there. We ordered famous papaya salad, chilli and basil chicken stir fry, spicy seafood hotplate along with Dragon's beard (Fried tofu with bean sprout). All dishes were very flavoursome and tickled all taste buds in the mouth with their freshness, spices, hotness, nuttiness and zest that you expect from genuine Thai food. Only disappointment was the Dragon's beard which had just tiny few fried tofu pieces rather than big pieces in large number. Description said stir-fried tofu with bean sprout but it should be other way around as it was tough to find any tofu in bean-sprouts. That leaves this place a bit short of perfection but still, It will definitely be a regular haunt of mine.
This restaurant with a couple of branches around London is an amazing place to have Thai food. The portions and flavours are quite authentic Thai.
Halal- yes ( only chicken and lamb)
Recommendations-
Starter- chicken satay
Main dishes - chilli and basil stir fry, pad Thai , chicken musallan curry, green curry,
Try these with egg fried rice or sticky rice .
Tried Rosa's at Soho the night before but ordered the wrong dish! Luckily some friends took me to a Rosa's cafe here and I got to try pretty much all their signature dishes. We went there at 9 at night on a Monday and it was still quite busy. I was well impressed by their signature salad and pineapple fried rice. Their milk tea was very tasty and not too sweet. I ordered the sticky rice and mango dessert at 10 when the kitchen was closing, luckily they had one left! The mango was not too big but the sticky rice and coconut cream was great combination together. If you like Thai food and a nice and relaxed restaurant to eat with friends you definitely should try Rosa's!
Whilst most foodies (me included) are raving about the arrival of Thai hotspots Som Saa and Smoking Goat, Rosa's Thai Café are quietly taking over London having just opened their sixth site in Angel.
Spitalfields is where it all began in 2008 for the lovely Saiphin and her family. Two Soho sites, Westfield & Chelsea followed before they arrived in Islington last week.
The menu is extensive but easy to navigate. It's worth noting that there are fewer dishes available at lunch. Be sure to grab some starters and salads. Fish Cakes with Crushed Peanuts & Sweet Chilli Sauce (Thod Mun Pla) hit the spot, and moreish Spicy Pork Patties (Lab Tod) come attached to colourful rice cakes. A zingy Pork Neck Salad was attractively wrapped in lettuce leaves.
You can't go wrong with the generous portions of Pad Thai or Rosa's Fried Rice, but you can also push the boat out a little with the likes of Soft Shell Crab, Black Pepper Highland Venison, Pumpkin Red Curry and Broccoli in Oyster Sauce. I've heard rumours that the Pineapple Fried Rice is served in a large, hand-carved pineapple boat.
I wouldn't be surprised to see 10 or more of them this time next year. A book is already on the way, set for a February release. Time to jump on board Rosa's train. You'll leave satisfied with plenty of money in hand for a return trip.
This is a solid Thai chain choice. I have eaten at several locations and the food is consistently tasty.
Express lunch portions are small but sufficient. Good variety and value for the price.
Service varies. This location had great service: attentive and friendly without smothering.
Vegetarian options.
Skip the mango sticky rice.
Overall the food and service were amazing! It was kinda expected because many people recommended us this place quite often but we just haven’t got the chance to try it.
The Chicken Green Curry and Papaya Salad were delicious but very spicy!! It’s still enjoyable though. However the Tom Yum soup was a bit underwhelming. We could taste the sourness of the soup but it could be a bit more salty and sweet.
The Thai Tea was nice too. The menu didn’t mention hot/warm Thai Tea but the server still tried to serve us warm Thai Tea which was very good. It should definitely be on the menu especially during cold weather.
Came across this place by chance whilst in London. The food is freshly made and the speed of service was brilliant. From start to finish we were extremely happy. Highly recommend the Thai calamari and Veg Platter for starters, and the chicken chilli and basil stir fry was delicious (pics don't do the food Justice!). Staff are friendly and professional, premises are clean and it's in a lovely vibrant area. Would highly recommend.
Lovely restaurant in vibrant area of central London. Great Thai food. Very tasty and good choice of options. Staff is very friendly. I especially enjoyed sitting outside, on the late summer evening. The inside is a good option as well, bright and clean. Real recommendation! Best Rosa's I've been to.
Amazing service and amazing food. We ordered multiple plates and all food was amazing. I personally had the red curry which I highly recommend . We had a small misunderstanding and the restaurant offered as a 20% discount and excluded from the price the dish that was late. Also they apologized. Top service, top experience.
Very nice place with authentic Thai food at an affordable price level. They even serve their own beer (a Thai-PA)!
Very friendly and attentive staff.
Love their King Prawn Pad Thai
This is my first time here, I’m so impressed with the food! Especially, Tom Kha Kai. The staff (Aof & Louise!)are also very kind and helpful. I enjoy having a meal here. Definitely recommend
Great flavourful food, we really enjoyed it. The service was excellent, everyone was very friendly and polite. The food options are also suitable for everyone. We ordered tofu cashew stir fry, chicken green curry, shrimp popcorn and rice summer roll - everything was top class and definitely coming back again. All the best and thank you.
We had a really beautiful evening here, the staff were so helpful. It was a real pleasure to have Aiman as our waiter, he helped us decide from all the wonderful dishes on the menu. Thank you for your kind hospitality. I’ll defiantly come again!
A well thought out space with a warm atmosphere, great music, friendly staff (especially Murat), and tasty food!
I highly recommend the Tom Yum noodles with Asian mushrooms for those who like tangy/slightly spicy broths; Rosa’s red duck curry for something warm, sweet and comforting.
For dessert, try the mango sticky rice. It’s rich, creamy, coconuty sticky rice paired with refreshing mango slices and sesame seeds. 🤤
We really enjoyed our time and will definitely visit again soon.
P.S. if you like to cook, don’t forget to grab a recipe card on your way out. You can attempt recreate some of their tasty recipes in your own home -not that you can ever fully recreate this lovely experience.
