Very enjoyable Sunday lunch. The place was full when we arrived without a booking.  A very nice chap who turned out to be the boss found us a table and we had a great time. He had an air of someone who was slightly bored with the plethora of hipsters that populate almost every establishment these days - so we felt completely welcome and comfortable! Oysters fresh and clean. Wine - De Vedilhan - one of my favourites! Fish broth was exquisite. Beef was one of the finest Sunday roasts I've eaten. Very nice Pinot Noir to accompany. Potatoes were overcooked and dry inside. Oh dear... Can't have everything!!  Have been before and will go again. With friends next time for the larger cuts of beef and whole chickens - too much for just the two of us!

Hired the upstairs room for a work lunch party and everyone agreed the food was outstanding. Loved the idea of choosing two starters and two mains and everything served family style on platters repeating down the table: delicious duck salad, pretty nice mussels, good beef and amazing venison. I went back for dinner with my friend later at Christmas and though not as amazing food, probably in holiday rush, the atmosphere downstairs is really lovely. Black pudding and chorizo salad was uninspiring as was the rabbit though. Pickled mackerel dish to start for my companion was the main star! Great place for friends, informal date, parents etc.

Fantastic Easter Lunch. My husband and two boys went to the Drapers Arms this afternoon for an Easter sunday roast. We loved it! It has to be one of the best roasts in London!

Went for friends birthday last night, a rowdy table of twelve were reasonably well looked after. My Dover sole was fantastic but the missus not keen on her onglet steak. I have eaten there several times and is worth a return visit. They also look after their ales and it's a pleasant and attractive pub a stones throw from busy upper street.

Retro 50s charm.. The Drapers Arms looks like a popular & buzzing local pub despite being set in a residential area of quiet & charming period houses. The food is proudly British & above average quality... so not your usual pub grub. In fact, we could detect inspiration from the faddish St John. Seasonal produce, prepared simply, confidently executed, such as a whole lemon sole with herb butter & the roast pheasant. The lardy cake went down very well. Prices are fair, reflecting the simple style of food & decor.

This is just that loveliest of British things - a great local pub, serving lovely and lovingly-prepared food, which just happens to be as good as you might expect to find in fancier places charging twice as much.

Some believe that if you are going to move to a new area, the best way to know more about the vicinity is pay the local pub a visit. A couple did just that when we were lunching at Drapers Arms some time back.

Fortunately for me this recent fine spell of weather coincided with my birthday I was pleased that the opportunity arose to spend the afternoon with some friends and family at The Drapers Arms in Islington, a pub I've wanted to visit for a while now. We a

A place for good, humble, honest food.  Went there for a roast lunch with big generous plates of tender meats accompanied by rich, crispy baked potatoes and veg.  The range of starters were sensational - the deep-fried quail sells out quickly and so you better go there early and get it because it's not to be missed.  Definitely one of the best places for a roast in London.

This was my first time visiting The Drapers Arms after hearing good things about it from other friends. A group of us visited on a Sunday afternoon for a Sunday roast meal - something that I rarely have but love to indulge myself in every once in a while. It is quite hidden away, but the place was actually really busy inside when we walked in.

Everything on the menu looked really tempting, and we ordered a couple of portions of each starter to share. It was my first time tasting the duck ham, and it was really as good as they say, as were the rilletes with game terrine, and the baked Tunworth. We were also lucky enough to order the last portion of deep fried quail, which was literally finger-licking-good! Certainly a good start to the meal...

For mains, the whole table ordered a few different meats depending on personal preferences. The three of us in the corner went for the whole roast chicken which came with roasted potatoes, carrots, kale and bread sauce. The chicken was nicely roasted as well as the vegetables. I'm not really a fan of bread sauce, but I did request for some mustard on the side which worked well for me. The portion was really big and generous, and we were defeated in the end... We were so full that we didn't have enough space for dessert..! Oh well, I guess that I will have to make another visit to taste them...

The venue also seems to cater well for families, as there were quite a few tables with small children, which is good. The place is also really warm and cosy, with friendly staff.

I would definitely recommend a visit for a proper Sunday roast, and I would be interested to visit again to try their regular menu.

Hidden away in the depths of Islington is this amazing British pub. Opposed to the usual dark and dingy interiors this pub keeps a lot of typical British elements but is much fresher, much cooler and much brighter than the usual. The black and white tiling looks very effective and adds old world charm to the place. Luckily a friend told us to meet here one evening as I would never have discovered it through my own wandering.

The menu consists of some interesting twists on the classic pub meals. Average bar food this is not. Apparently the menu changes quite regularly, I would say everything is always delicious if our meal was anything to go by! I had the fish which was wonderfully fresh, subtle in flavour with a wonderful citrus sauce.

Mains are around £15-20 and everything on the menu sounded fantastic.

Would definitely recommend !

This is the first place I have been too in a long time that I am genuinely excited to bring people back to. When i was led there totally unaware of my surroundings on a Friday night little did I know I would enjoy a very well seasoned bit of venison and some boar heart (I can only claim a taste of the second, but it will be my main when I triumphantly return at some point). The wine selection is large and they have a really romantic bit of outdoor space (fairy lights, fairly lights everywhere!) Only 'complaint' was that it was a endeavour worthy of a medal to get the bill, but the place was rammed so can't quibble too loudly

5 starts from me for the feast we had today! Very good value for money here. Had a whole chicken with many trimmings , two drinks , sparkling water, two starters and paid just £50/person with service included. And the most important is that food was actually very nice. Only downside for me is that they allow pets inside and some customers didn’t pay attention to their their dogs which were messing around with other guests and barking.

What a lovely pub! The Draper's Arms is sweet, convivial and earthy. A bit shabby chic, last coat of paint a few weeks ago, love it. High ceilings and airy. A great environment. The service is exemplary. Just the one real on but tasting good I am told. My Freedom lager is great, a great visit. A most delightful place.

Visited here for a Sunday roast. Good pub with a wide selection of beers, and nice pub atmosphere. Roast was good - had the sirloin roast which was delicious. Overall would recommend coming here. Nice sized garden in the back as well.

This is my second time going to this place. I'm going here with people who are special to me. Because the atmosphere here is perfect for talking and really understanding. And they're also paying a lot of attention to my friend Spike. She brought the water right away without me asking and they liked it. This is very important to me. Thank you very much for the food and service as well. I'll see you again soon.

The Drapers cooks up one of the best roasts in London. The lamb shoulder to share is drool-worthy, served with crispy and golden roasties, red cabbage, veg and a gravy/jus that could be served as soup it’s that good. The wine list is long but well thought out and perfect to experiment with something new. It never disappoints. Actually I lie, once I ordered the pie and the suet pastry was far too thick. But everyone makes mistakes. We love that there is a strong selection of board games to have a run at on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Aisha & Nick xx

I love the atmosphere in this pub as well as the back terrace. I ve had better roasts. They do hide a few gems in their menus. They have a bigger wine list than a wholesaler 😂 If they manage to do something about the acoustics indoors I'd love it more. It is so trumpet-like loud inside when it gets busy. Dash to the terrace

Really enjoyed everything about our Sunday roast. Good looking venue, well layed-out internally. Staff were really friendly and chatty. The beef roast was excellent. The only reason the atmosphere lost a star was the noise levels - there's nothing to dampen the sound of other tables' conversations, so it was extremely loud inside to the point where I couldn't hear the waitress or my friends.

On the spur of the moment Sunday lunch prior to a shopping expedition. We did book a table but they were accommodating and found us a spot upstairs. Great food and excellent service delivered by friendly and helpful staff. Plus the Harvey's was in excellent condition.

The food and incredible wine list make this place worth going to. Only slight criticism would be that staff seem over worked on Sunday lunch shift, and it can be hard to get any attention. The size of some groups also makes the inside very loud depending on where you’re sat (if at the back by the door into the garden then especially so). But the food really is faultless, and the staff know their wine. A garden table in good enough weather solves the problem of things feeling a bit hectic. Definitely worth a visit.

Pretty much out on its own for Sunday Roast given it offers Beef to order on the bone. You pay more for this but it's worth every penny. All the trimmings are excellent and hearty to say the least. It does get busy so waiting times vary and staff can sometimes prove to be elusive. Worth it all for the quality of the food. I every Sunday Roast was like this ...😉

We love Draper Arms. Food is delicious. I always get the fish! Takes a bit long to get your main courses sometimes because they often have large parties upstairs, but it’s a great atmosphere and the staff is always lovely!

Amazing Sunday Roast, great atmosphere and service. Group of 5 adults and we shared one of each - Beef and Lamb sharing size (2-3) roasts. Both were exquisite - the Lamb was the best I’ve had. Overall 10 out of 10.

Primarily a gastro-pub - and with good reason: the food is delicious! Good selection of ales too (and I class any pub with Harvey's on cask - as a good selection!). You probably need to book as it is very popular. The setting is great. The wine list is interesting and fun. The neighbourhood location is worth a walk around. All in all - thoroughly recommended.

It's a great pub, hidden on a back street, and well worth a visit. The garden in the summer is delightful and the main rooms are cozy and warm in the winter. The food is always excellent - the chef at the moment is particularly good. The booze list is also very good. The staff are friendly and helpful, particularly with Covid making everything difficult.
