Of the restaurants in the Duke of York area, Polpo is the most reasonably priced for a mid afternoon snack.  As it was drizzling, we sat indoors where the service was excellent.  Tap water brought right away and very attentive.  Also finished tapas dishes were cleared quickly from the table.  The indoor space is tiny compared to the huge terrace where I can't speak for how service is.

We shared a half litre of the house red for 14.50.  It was light, pleasant, and summery. Food started arriving quite quickly.  First came the bruschetta of broad beans, mint and ricotta.  Ricotta has been salted quite heavily and broad beans were double shelled--a nice attention to detail.  One reason this dish was so delicious was because the bread had been drenched in good olive oil.  Order this because it is delicious, and not because it you are looking for a light, low calorie dish.

My companion really like the gnocchi with duck and black olive ragout.  For me the tomato sauce was a little over sweetened--reminding me more of Sicily than Venice.  However, it was tasty with olives and plenty of pulled duck meat.  Nice texture on the gnocchi.

I loved the Frito Misto.  Very thin tempura like batter that didn't taste greasy.  Prawns were served heads on but shelled.  There was also calamari and courgette.  I did ask for additional wedges of lemon that appeared quickly.

We will be back.  Maybe not the Chelsea branch where we happen to be rarely (we went to an exhibit at the Saatchi gallery) but definitely will try Soho.

After we came out of the Chelsea Flower Show at 8.00pm, we decided to find somewhere to eat. I’d earlier noticed a Polpo in the pedestrianised area of Duke of York Square, just off King’s Road. On a warm late May evening after a lovely time at the Flower Show, supper al fresco seemed a great idea.

Excellent lunch at Polpo. Both the food and service were good.
The meatless meatball, arancini and potato croquettes were amazing! The gnocchi were delicious too. The chicken Milanese was my least favourite as not as good as the rest of the good. The ricotta donuts are ok but not special.
Service is friendly and attentive.
Definitely a place to try. Fantastic location on King's road right next to Saatchi gallery. Portions are a bit on the small side and prices in line with the area. Loved it!

I'm partial towards tapas serving restaurants. They let you taste the goodness without drowning you in the absolute pleasure of it. This place has a great menu with wonderful house wine as well. The staff were super nice and I ordered extras just to continue watching them in action. No complaints at all, just a tummy full of love and joy! Please order the Arancini balls and Bruschetta...wonderful!!!

Great place to go for a tapas style meal. Tried the crab and chili linguine and the Chickpea, spinach & ricotta 'meat'ball with spaghetti. The 'meat'ball was sooo good!

What: Small plates at Polpo

Where: Sloane Square, London,UK

Whats the idea?: Order lots of plates to share ( prefer 2 per person but up to you) and this way you get to try different things without eating too much

What was ordered?: frito misto, spinach pizza, onion pizza, arrancini, falafel meatballs.

Best dish?: Falafel meatballs - rich tomotoey sauce with thick chinky balls that dont wish you had meat great to dunk break in.

Worst dish?: Avoid the arrancini, not brilliantly made and a bit bland

Inside or Out?: If its sunny definitely out, al fresco style, eady chilled out vibe. Seating is available inside aswell for those slightly colder times.

Would you go back?: Yes but make sure the people you go with have the same taste buds

Halal: No

I love the Polpo restaurants in Soho and at Ape & Bird near Covent Garden so when I strolled by on my way to The Saatchi Gallery one day and saw this latest location, it was like fate had struck. It was a warm enough day to sit outside so I grabbed a table....and then waited for what felt like a decade to order. Service here was not slick and I wasn't the only one desperately trying to flag down my waitress to get water, food and the bill. Luckily, the food was just as fabulous as in their other locations: the broccolini, ricotta, hazelnut & chilli bruschetta are delicious (and filling!) and I love how fresh and zingy their zucchini, basil and parmesan dish is (shame they also drown it in rocket but the English seem to be obsessed with the stuff). I hope that it was just opening kinks in the service that made it a rough experience. Because the food is fantastic.

Never disappoints! It’s me if the best dining experiences when we’re in London. Gluten Free options with an understanding of the needs of celiacs. Had no issues with prep of food. Zucchini Fries are out if this world! GF pizza crust is amazing. Service and staff are friendly and very attentive. Love this place. One in SOHO is also great. Quieter dining at Chelsea location makes for a better overall experience.

What a marvelous little place! I am so glad I found it. We had dinner and ordered pizza, spegnerti and meat balls, and their crab mascarpone special, all were amazing. Portions are small, which I am learning is a trend in London restaurants so we had to order additional dishes. Service was amazing.

I feel confident recommending any dish from the menu and it being high quality. Perfect location for a friendly lunch or anniversary dinner and everything in between. Order Intimate restaurant with a classical Italian decor with the food to match. We ordered the ‘Ndula Arancini, pork fennel & chilli meatballs, beef shin pappardelle, zucchini fries, and tiramisu. Drinks order: Peroni zero, Aperol sprits, caffe latte, and macchiato. Recommend Portions are small if ordering a single dish for a person but I recommend the at least a meat, fish or pizzette & side each per person for a light meal. Additionally adding another plate if wanting a larger meal. Revisit We avoided the focaccia as I make my own at home and are often disappointed but next time we will be adding it to the order for scarpetta (bread that’s used to eat the left over sauce on the plate). The pizza is typical of what you find in Venice which is difference to the Neapolitan pizza most associated with Italy, not a bad thing just something to know before ordering. Seasonal/ rotational menus keep repeat visits fresh and the quality gives you confidence in trying something out of your comfort zone.

I went with my elderly auntie today from 1pm onwards. At first I thought hmm should I pick this restaurant or a different one then suddenly a customer told me that the food is really nice so ok we tried it. My auntie and I ordered 2 of the tomato with mozzarella and oregano pizza and one Tiramisu for dessert. The taste was very nice and filling. I was full up in the end. The Tiramisu was rich taste and yes, I love it. I think next time, I will order two pizzas for myself or order a different dish. My auntie enjoyed it, too. The service was friendly staff and to check if their food is good and if we are finish. They will clear our plates straight away. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. I will come back again next time. Thank you, Polpo staff :).

Fantastic and really well priced restaurant. The staff were friendly and engaging, the service quick and efficient with a full service and the food was delicious. The asparagus with anchovies was an absolute knockout. We were so impressed with the asparagus that we ordered their book which seems to be packed with simple and delicious recipes. Definitely worth a visit

One of my favorite spots in London. Good and unpretentious food. The service and the prices are reasonable. We had fig and gorgonzola crostini, roasted salmon and pumpkin ravioli. All of them are excellent. They have lots of outdoor seating.

The entrance to this restaurant is a little confusing but once inside, you feel you have been exported into a lovely Mediterranean bistro with its wood floors and brick walls. The place wasn't full yet as we've arrived quite early for dinner but already there was a light-hearted, buzzy atmosphere. The food was delicious - great flavours and 'sharing' plates if you like the 'tapas' style of eating, with reasonably good service too. I really look forward to visiting again when the weather is warmer as it has a large outside dining area which I am sure is very popular.

Fabulous spot in the centre of Chelsea and perfect location for shopping and the Saatchi Gallery. Had a great meal and my kids loved the pasta and pizza offering. They are 5 and 7 and soon as we sat down we were offered drawing materials and crayons. Food was great and very reasonable. Beef shin pasta and tiramisu were stand out dishes.
