Lovely atmospheric pub, great rotation of amazing regular and guest beers and ciders. Great food, especially their burgers.

What’s not to like?!
Fantastic beer selection. Delicious food. Fish & chips were outstanding. English bitter cask beer was very good.
Pub atmosphere, pub food and classic pub service. The young guy in his tracky dacks behind the bar was casual but super polite. We came in for a Sunday roast after a long day on the tourist beat. Small town service in the big city! As we were the last dinner customers, some menu items were not available but what was available was basic wholesome English pub fare. Just what we needed. Thanks for having us.

There has been a pub on this site since 1750, the current building was built in the 1930’s. This former Charringtons pub is built in a mock tudor style and is Grade II listed.

This is a two bar pub which continues the Tudor style inside. There are oak beams, low doorways between bars and a central servery. At the back of the bar there is an additional seating area which is bright and airy. At the rear of the pub is a good size sun trap beer garden. Throughout the pub are comfy chairs and sofas which make for a cosy feel.

This pub is part of the @portobellobrewing stable of pubs, the beer offering here is diverse and varied with sixteen to choose from. My beer choice today was Paulaner, this is one of my favourite beers and it really hit the spot. The food menu is full of pub classics with some cosmopolitan influences. This pub also has a strong roast game if you’re visiting on a Sunday.

I visited on a Saturday lunchtime just after opening and had the pleasure of meeting the Guv’nor Ralph. He was telling me all about the pub and especially how popular the roasts were. He mentioned that the pub is starting live music evenings, the first is tonight with blues band JKS Blues.

Kennington has another top top boozer here. The @oldredkenn has a wonderful down to earth feel to the place and is a great spot for beer and food. Definitely check this pub out when you’re in SE11.

Great food here! I was starving. Hadn’t eaten all day. Ordered the burger and fries. The fries are so good. The burger tastes like it was cooked on a BBQ, a really unique flavour. Very nice staff. Thanks!

To start off, the mock Tudor look is fantastic, it adds to the relaxed friendly atmosphere inside. We sat down & was immediately greeted by the staff. We said we were eating & were given a bottle of water for the table & informed of what had sold out to avoid disappointment. I went to the bar to order the vegan chicken burger & the cheese/brisket beef burger (I added bacon as an option). I enquired about non/low alcohol drinks & was offered to try a sample of the 0.3% beer (Free star maybe?), Suffice to say we ordered 2 pints as it was very nice. Without asking, we were provided with ketchup/mayo & vegan mayo which was a nice touch, the food came in around 10-15mins (which felt about 5 mins as it is so relaxing). To start, the chips come lightly salted & are very nice. The vegan burger was tasty with a grilled bun. The brisket burger was fantastic, the brisket has gravy on it which took the burger to another level. The only disappointment we had was that the vegan brownies had sold out which on a positive note gives us an excuse to return. If I lived closer, without question this would be our local. Highly recommend.
Like to try different pubs. Been a few times. Staff as great, very friendly, helpful and a good sense of humour. Ralph and William, you guys rock, thank you! Lots of food options and tasty. Outside garden area with plenty of tables. Never a bad atmosphere (staff react quickly to any negative). Quiz nights are fun and including. Good place. Recommended.

Good old fashioned boozer. Good pint of bitter. nice patio beer garden. Friendly bar staff. Good place to go after a day at the cricket at the Oval. Didn't eat but the food looked good
One of my favorite pubs in Kennington. The place I’d always return to whenever I’m in the area. It has a vintage vibe with mismatched furniture pieces and a tiny garden at the back, plus very decent food and drinks.
This is a delightful pub and would be my local if I lived here. They have a nice beer and cider selection and tasty pub food. The lamb pie is savory and good and served with veg that isn't cooked to death. The beef burger has cheddar on top and is nice and juicy (you can get it topped with bacon or fried black pudding). It's served with chips that are crispy on the outside and tender and moist on the inside. It's cozy and has a nice vibe. There are several indoor rooms and an open air beer garden. The staff is friendly. Recommended!!
Lovely staff and the even have tall men and pretty barmaids. Food, maybe, but de finely drinks. Nice beer garden at the back. And an easy stagger to Stockwell Tube 5* thank you! Pete @peterwhites3
A delightful homely pub with lots of crooks and nannies to get comfy in. Pleasant staff and good beer, certainly worth a visit. Looks good for Sunday roasts as well. I love the tiny low doorways between the bars.
Called in for a quick pint, tue staff were friendly and patient while I couldn't decide what to drink. Only had a drink so couldn't comment on food service other than the menu did look appetising.

Very nice visit. So great draught choices and I love garden at the back, it's a real find. A hidden gem so close to the Tube.
The new menu is lush. Having a decent Ploughman's lunch is a treat!
Three of us had Sunday roast in this pub. The food was very good and well priced for London. The pub is spacious, with lovely rooms, and has a good selection of beers. This was topped with friendly service for a great experience. Will come back!
