Different to how I remember it but still pretty good. Its difficult to find a decent chinese but Happy Garden deliver and got the food to me swiftly...
I went to the Happy Garden a few years ago now and was disappointed with the meal I had, in particular the unpleasant rubbery chicken. I vowed never to return but a change of ownership resulted in me giving it another go and I'm delighted I did. The food is fresh and tasty but most importantly of all is not swimming in oil as a lot of Chinese meals can be.
The meat springs rolls (the menu says 2 per serving but I actually got 4!) were light and crispy and the prawn toast again crispy and delicious. The Kung Po chicken is spicy and full of flavour, the Duck with Cashew perfectly cooked and with lots of meat. All were accompanied by a suitably eggy egg fried rice.
What really stood out for me was the freshness and flavour and I'm really happy to say that the Happy Garden makes me happy! It's reasonably priced and a great local option.

Reasonable local Chinese take-away - please note they're cash only! There's no option for sit down, but the kitchen is pretty efficient and you don't have to wait long for a walk-in order. So far we've enjoyed the spring rolls, chicken sweetcorn soup and the shredded crispy beef (sauce is a bit hot, but mostly sweet). Chicken Chowmein was a bit meh, an okay side-dish, but just onions and sprouts for veg.
Needed a quick meal so wanted a box meal. Only one veggie option for a box meal so got that, mapo tofu with egg fried rice. Didn't fancy it but had to go for it and it was so banging. Sauce was top tier, exactly what I needed, worth the slightly pricier cost
The best Chinese take away in South London. Delicious egg fried rice & special fried rice. Chicken balls amazing. Lovely family that are polite and friendly. Very busy on Fridays & Saturday's. Try this Chinese take away.

Impressive Chinese in Streatham Hill, just like other reviews, do not judge the food by the place. Give it a go for sure! We will be coming back!
Lived in the area for some time now and get easily drawn into the delivery apps for ease, so Happy Garden had never come up.
Much better than other Chinese takeaways in the area by far so the 5 stars is based on it easily being the best choice. We are vegetarian and all the veg tasted fresh and plenty of sliced garlic and chilli in the dishes we had.
Will just make this our go to Chinese now and pleased that it isn’t on the delivery apps as it isn’t some tech giant taking a cut.
After a lot of research for the perfect Chinese takeaway in Streatham, we chose Happy Garden based on so many positive reviews. The food was DELICIOUS, everything was so fresh and tasty and incredible value for money. Also so refreshing to not have to use food delivery apps to get the best food. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Been ordering here for years and have never had a problem with staff or food quality. I could go to my local Chinese takeaway but I travel here for better quality food. 👍🏼
My most favourite Chinese takeaway in South London! Great tasting, quality ingredients. It’s not greasy at all. Don’t be put off by the exterior which is a bit tired. Try it for yourself- you won’t be disappointed :)

Don't judge a book by its cover. Genuinely the food goes well beyond the normal greasy take away fare. Happy Garden easily stands up against more expensive take away restaurants in the area, and we have swapped to happy garden exclusively. Great value, great service, fresh and non greasy food. They aren't on an app delivery that I could find, but they do deliver!
We discovered this place about 2 months ago and ordered take away from them several times since then. Some items aren't great ( We tried about 5 chicken dishes from their menu and we didn't really liked them) but the beef in black bean sauce is delicious as is their duck and pork with rice (the one from the white menu on the till). The squid is pretty nice also. Cheap and quick chinese food for lazy nights
Best local Chinese! Salt and pepper calamari and capital ribs are incredible, can't ever go past them. Crispy duck and beef ho fun noodles also ace 👌🏻 ignore the one star review and don't bother with sweet and sour chicken like he did - it not even legit Chinese, a dish created to cater to westerners. Stay classic 👌🏻
This place is so so good! Food was ready in minutes, portion sizes were massive (and included complimentary prawn crackers:) Staff were very nice. Chicken dumplings and Salt and pepper squid were incredible! Definitely recommend and will order again 💕
