I basically just love it!

Can "pub food" get sublime? Indeed here it does. International "grandma" traditional dishes in a pretty British environment. Inexpensive and delicious.
Half the bar for an excellent wine list and real ales and the other half for the kitchen. Razor clams simply cooked and gutsy. Whole bream for me and a spot on kedgeree for Linda. There is nothing like this in Perth! Wonderful and we will return.
The onions are sweet and the steak is tender and packed with flavour (maybe a little too much salt).
We've all been there. Half way through a night out and you're regretting the straight from work sprint that meant you didn't eat since lunch. If you're as lucky as I was, you're in Farringdon and The Eagle is round the corner.
Before 2010, I could have counted the number of times I have eaten in Clerkenwell on one hand. And on one of those occasions, KFC was involved, enough said really. I never really had any impulse to go and visit it, nor had any reason. If someone came up t
Our last London meal was a bit stressful. We needed a place that would be quick, didn't require a reservation and not too out of the way to Paddington . Oh, and ideally, the restaurant would be atmospheric and the food deliciousā¦ With these caveats firml
This is the best quality pub meal I've ever had, no questions. Jill said she remembered this place for their food, and all of my research on London told me that this was the gastropub of gastropubs. I was not disappointed. The
Nothing British about this place like the title says - Spanish all the way! Relaxed, great, hearty food in a relaxed, great, hearty setting. Best fresh olives I've had in a while and lovely drinkable Rioja. Lovely meat and bean stew and whopping steak sandwich. Will definitely be coming again with some friends in tow.

The Eagle is known to be the original one, since David Eyre and Mike Belbe took over the place in 1991. This spot naturally became a template of what true gastropubs should be: no-tablecloths, order-at-the-bar, daily-changing menu on blackboards and a place where to feel at home for either a pint of lager or a sit-down meal.
While their menu focuses on Mediterranean cuisine, we guarantee you that the food is as fresh and local as it is exquisite. They even sell their own cookbook, which is always a good sign. Mains are around Ā£10-15.
Part of the Queens Head and Anchor and Hope group. An amazing spot.
More rustic than the Queens Head, but still spot on
such cute and cozy vibes but very lively at the same time, i love this place and never stop thinking about it! the food is absolutely fantastic and the energy of everyone inside is so vibrant, itās really lovely both for a drink and for food with some friends!
A friend recommended this place and we had to go try the raves about steak sandwich. We arrived just after opening so no problem getting a table. The menu is on blackboards behind the bar. After starting with a pint and a spritz, our food came out quickly.
The manchego and apple toasti was so good! A great portion of rosemary manchego, half and apple, and some toasted hearty bread. I loved it!
The steak sandwich was as good as the reviews say. Great seasoning, tender, and a big sandwich!
The people working were all very nice. I liked the wine list, lots of interesting options. I would definitely return to try more of the food and drinks.
Prepare to be on your toes for a table ! We waited about 30 mins at the bar on a Wednesday evening but boy was it worth the waitā¦ the pork belly is the stuff of dreams!! I had the steak sandwich which was also incredible but the pork is just something else. Better than the pig and butcher! Very crowded and hard to hear but worthwhile for the meal. My goodness I will think about this in the days to come!
Relaxing pub and unexpectedly good foodš the tuna steak smell and taste really good. The signature steak sandwich is huge, the bread is crispy and warm, just yummy š¤¤ definitely worth to come again !
Btw, the restaurant is dog friend so you can bring along your puppy to enjoy!
One of the best places Iāve been in a while. The food was amazing and well priced, the service was fantastic - especially the lovely lady that brought us our food. It felt homey and welcoming, absolutely lovely atmosphere. I donāt usually tend to write reviews, but this place deserves it and Iād 10/10 recommend
The Eagle is a rare gem in the midst of London, with the perfect ambience, daily menus written on chalk boards, incredible dishes and warm staff. The manchego & rosemary is not to be missed as is the the steak sandwich, to finish I recommend ordering all of their desserts. Heaven.
Been meaning to try this place for a while. The steak sandwich is phenomenal. Also the jaffa cake for dessert (I was too excited to tuck in, that I forgot to take a pic). Really pleased with our visit, staff friendly, great Sunday afternoon vibe. Faultless. š
Relaxed atmosphere; excellent food. The onglet melted in your mouth. It did take a while to order at the bar and they could do with improving the acoustics (it was very loud, even on a Monday evening), but the food and vibe of The Eagle is fantastic overall. Lovely place for an elevated casual dinner. I loved the artwork and distressed atmosphere. It felt like an old school brasserie done right, complete with open kitchen.
Best gastropub in London. The quality of the food is always top-notch regardless of the menu or the chef of the day.
The atmosphere is lively, the music is good. It tends to get really loud late at night and it's not exactly baby-friendly but not all pubs should be.
Well located around Farringdon, this local gastro pub offers good quality pub food and their meat sandwich specialty is very tasty, it's worth the try! They also brew their own beer and prices are fine. Staff is friendly as well!
Awesome family lunch. Their steak sandwich is truly unique and well deserving all those rave reviews. All other food, including desserts, was excellent too. Friendly and flawless service and great ambience.
Outstanding meal. Best Iāve had in a long time. I will be telling everyone about this place for a whileā¦. Highly recommend!!
Amazing food, amazing wine, amazing vibe and not overly priced. This place feels like a bit of a hack.
It's tucked away a short walk from Farringdon station and just round the corner from Exmouth market, but if I'm in the area, this is now my go to spot.
Really tasty and healthy portioned food, which changes on the regular, except a few staples like the steak sandwich. All with the ability to wash it down with reasonably priced wine.
What is not to love?
Not as good as it's previous incarnation. I finally tried the signature steak sandwich and it was quite salty, the meat and bread were good. The pastas were lacking flavour and sauce. Had one with fresh sardines and one with the vongole. The vongole one was almost dry, was supposed to have a white wine sauce. Had a very good fish dish once. Overall very hit and miss, mostly miss. Even the free bread is quite hard work unless you have soup or some decent sauce to mop up. Will not go there too often, hopefully the food will improve to it's former glory.
Honestly, I loved this place! It looks a bit basic, not the kinda place I would normally go, but the food was amazing (white beans with Pork). The service was perfect (the waitress so friendly). It does remind me of a gastro pub from the 90s.
Only there for drinks and the atmosphere, we didn't eat but the food looked and smelled amazing, definitely try it on our next visit.
Lovely people, lovely food, lovely vibes. It's my go to for a chilled lunch.
Also, their swordfish, steak sandwich and desserts are all top notch
Fine dining in a pub! The "gastropub" by excellence! Very friendly and professional staff. Warmly envirnonment, tasty ingredients and quality food. It's a lovely night out!
