Had the fish and chips lunch. It was excellent. Came with mushy peas and homemade Tartar sauce, and was a very generous portion. Very tasty. Service was quick and very friendly, which all adds to the enjoyment. Would definitely eat there again, and recommend the George highly.
My parents found this place and it was our first stop in London. After going to many pubs in the area, this one takes the cake. Great staff, drinks and food, would recommend to anyone. Alastair, Paul, Jenny, Josh and the two Richs were especially welcoming!
We had lunch for a friends birthday celebration. The upstairs room was perfect and the food was absolutely amazing. Will definitely be back and will also be recommending it to friends. A hidden gem to be visited if you haven't already
Food and service excellent. ..generous portion size too.. .highly recommend
Great pub didn't get to try the food although wish we had. Beer was good atmosphere great staff friendly what more could you want.
Music volume could have been lower found ourselves having to talking over it.
Great beer and wine selection and the food was fantastic. Going again tomorrow.
We had dinner last night at the Pig and Goose - the food was fantastic as were the servers. If you are looking for great reasonably price food this is definitely a must!
LOVE this great old pub fantastic staff and great ale and service a must visit if your in london
Just left the Pig & Goose restaurant upstairs in the George pub . Me and my male friend were served by 2 LOVELY waitresses (English and French). Superb service like other places could learn from and the food was perfect. Had a wonderful evening in a great pub. Coming back again soon. Thanks so much. Compliments to the chef and the 2 very professional waitresses. Jeanie Eldon
We had the Roast and I've got to say it was the best idea tasted in a long while. Service and wine excellent too.
A hidden gem! Food is unparalleled as is the ale, atmosphere and service. Looking for excuses to visit again!!!
This is the second time we have eaten here, we love it, food is fabulous and staff are most definitely 5*
Absolutley amazing ! Staff are great, food is awesome, will definitely be back, can't wait !
This public house is consistently excellent. Food and service first class and not over priced. I highly recommend you visit The George on the Strand. Special mention to Jenny. She works so hard to make your visit memorable.
What a fantastic place.. Simply loved it, great fish n chips, pale ale and lovely friendly staff.. Very refreshing! We will be back and soon! Can't wait!
We loved it, the food was faultless and the service was excellent. We had a drink downstairs before dining, the whole experience was great. The wine was so smooth and majestic.
On our first day in London after a redeye flight, we wanted a relaxed pub for lunch with decent food. The ME London hotel recommended The George, which is only three blocks away and on the Strand in the Coventry Garden theater district.
Ordering appetizers, we were not expecting to be surprised, but the soup of the day, the scotch egg, the mushrooms and the charcuterie were fantastic. We may go back for dinner sometime.

Fantastic traditional pub. Large area inside and plenty of seating including some in the outside alleyway. Great service, very friendly and attentive. Decent selection of beers available. Good atmosphere inside, traditional feel with it being a little dark.
Had a great Sunday lunch, had roast chicken and the pork belly both were great and nice presentations. Oh the roast potatoes were spot on crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
We were here for dinner and had a near perfect experience! We had dinner on the ground floor - which would be the pub. The atmosphere was really nice and it looks good too. Really nicely situated across from the Courts of Justice, which itself is amazing.
We had a really nice corner table overlooking the courts of justice. The staff was friendly and nice, a bit more attention would have been nice, but all in all it was good.
We both had fish and chips and this fish… so amazing. Perfect batter. Wonderfully fried. Beautiful color. Probably the best I’ve had on London during my five visits. Unfortunately the chips were deep fried to long. They had a brownish and stale exterior, even though the inside was quite tasty and not ruined yet by the heave fry on the outside. It was explained in the comment as a specific type of potato, but the exterior as mentioned was actually not always nice to eat, for example being to cruncy/crumbly- hence the 4 stars.
The issue with the chips brought this down to a 4, but if only that had been done right it would have been a crystal clear 5 star experience for this category!
This pub is an absolute gem. The vibe is perfect for so many different occasions whether it’s for after work drinks, a lovely dinner with friends or family, or even as a cute little spot in the dining room upstairs for a splendid date. They even have a cosy private dining room for gatherings which would be perfect for birthdays or small occasions. We had the Sunday beef and pork belly roasts, and they were both excellent. Tasting the freshness and flavors in every dish was immaculate. Service was beyond exceptional and the staff created an experience for us and every other table individually! Without a doubt coming back and bring as many friends and family to this beautiful pub!
A wonderful atmosphere in this lovely old Pub. Food was tasty, service was excellent and very friendly. I will definitely be going back. Great location in the city 👏

What an absolutely lovely Sunday dinner we had last night. It was extremely busy the restaurant was fully booked but we luckily found a table in the bar. We had very limited choice for what we could order as they had run out of most things on the menu as it was that busy, but we went for the pork belly and it was stunning one of the best I've ever eaten! The wonderfully kind and chatty bar man recommended the chocolate pudding for dessert and it did not disappoint. Food is excellent and not too pricy for London, the cider was cold and affordable and although as with most places they appeared to be understaffed everyone was really friendly and happy to help. Had a wonderful meal with a nice crowd. Highly recommend.
Great food and service. I loved the dining area upstairs away from the noise pub.
We had the pleasure of enjoying a lunch at The George a couple of days ago. Our server was a mature woman who made us feel like family. EPIC fish (no chips for me) and salad. Great portion sizes and oozing with the atmosphere of a classy historic pub. Highly recommend!!
We booked a table for dinner here. It’s a pub and restaurant. Basically ground floor is the pub and 1st floor is the restaurant.
We went there around 6 p.m and bar was completely packed. But restaurant part was very quiet.
It is a historical pub. Initially around 500 years ago it was a coffee house. Outside of the building still have that vibe.
They have good food. I enjoyed their burger. I had fun time there.
Atmosphere was amazing. Interior was really cool.
Staff were super friendly.
Perfectly easy going place to stop for a pint with decent beers on tap. Well located and nice old feel about it.
Had the Headless Cavalier and it was delicious with just the right colour for my preference. Would make a good session beer. Also had the sausage roll bar snack which was good.
Seems busier during the day rather than the evening but may just be a quiet Friday night in Feb for me. When I’ve walked past previously in the afternoon/early evening it’s been packed.

Food, staff, service and ambience to the highest of standards. We stumbled across this hidden gem on our walk, and more than pleasantly surprised, we established this institution as a Sunday staple. We had both the beef and pork belly Sunday roasts which exceeded our expectations. Succulent, moist, and fresh - those were the words that came to mind once the food hit our taste buds and, it's safe to say, that this will become our regular. Many thanks to the staff for their expecetional service - will be coming back with friends and family.
Sunday Roast was great. Booked in advance. Had a great meal and great ale. Best Vesper martini I have ever had.
Having lived in France for the last 6 years we thought we were accustomed to rare beef but we weren’t expecting raw beef. It was a real shame because the food was tasty, staff friendly and ambience perfect.
We found it by accident but couldn't be happier. Food really nice, service very kind. This was best time for rest we could have wished for.
Great place for a Sunday Roast. The Pork Belly Roast I got was crispy on the outside, succulent on the inside, the veggies were cooked to perfection, the potatoes were just crispy enough, and the Yorkshire pudding light and fluffy.
Also had a black pudding scotch egg, which was very good and a side of pigeon, which was a small but tasty.
Lovely service and great food. I recommend this place.
