Great staff, great coffee - they always smile and make me happy with their coffee!
Great coffee and reasonable prices for breakfast!
Awesome coffe, nice small bites. Really popular at time !
The best coffee in London! Great coffee served by professional guys.
Thank you for being there. Fantastic! A great coffee in Barbican served by people who know their stuff. Whenever in the area, I always pop in for a flat white grateful to be able to do so.
Dose is a tiny, low key place on Long Lane towards Barbican. It's a typical Melburnian hole-in-the-wall sort of place, with a few chairs but mainly take away. The cute red cups match the huge, vintage La Marzocco but you wouldn't linger for too long. Coffee is fantastic; Square Mile but some of the lesser seen single origins and blends.
Sustainable, gourmet, creamy heaven in a fully biodegradable cup. That’s what you’ll get when you buy a coffee from Dose. I visited a couple of weeks ago to sample the coffee that I’ve heard so much about and I was served one of the best cups that I’ve had in London. Creamy, rich and delicious, Dose uses Square Mile Coffee, which is ethically sourced – so much so that their blends change with the seasons.
It's always good to stumble across another good coffee place - I had read about this on a couple of other blogs but had no idea where it was. I spotted it while I was in a cab this morning so went back afterwards for a full investigation. That old formula
I was recently invited with other Qypers and fellow food bloggers to visit this delightful independent Coffee House on Long Lane, EC1. Dose is a small café, simply but stylishly decorated, and set in a great central location by Smithfields Market.
I feel that I must do my bit to balance the unfair and clearly vexatious "scores" that some angry little person has inflicted on this fantastic business.
Something is clearly up when there is one actual review of 4.5/5 and then 10 anonymous scores bringing that down to 3/5
Dose has gotten me through many a dreary day and I now feel a personal twinge when somebody dares to try to damage their reputation.
Get a life, whoever you are!
Wedged between foodie hub Clerkenwell and the City's corporate world is Dose Espresso, a relative veteran in the London speciality coffee scene (it was established in 2009). This Kiwi-owned gem is small and buzzy, and its defining feature is a seriously good cuppa.
The coffee is some of the best I've tasted in London - they use the 'Red Brick' blend from renowned East London coffee roasting house Square Mile, which is smooth and creamy. Aeropress and filter coffee are available in addition to espresso drinks, and they have recently started serving cold brew in preparation for summer. Befitting any London café, there is also a substantial tea menu.
The food offering is small, but tasty and innovative. Savoury options include sandwiches and bagels with topping combinations such as halloumi, honey-roasted veggies and harissa yogurt. Sweet-tooths won't be disappointed either, with brownies, blondies, banana bread and tarts adorning the counter (and these include gluten-free choices). And there's a great bircher muesli blend if you're looking for something lighter on the calories.
When it comes to atmosphere, Dose is more of an espresso bar than anything else. The space is small, compact and – at least during lunch times on weekdays – lively, so it’s not the sort of place where you would sit for hours. That being said, it is still very relaxed – you won’t be ushered out the door straight after polishing off your drink.
One of my favourite features is the fact that the benches along the wall all face outwards (rather than towards the wall), which makes the place more open and social, as well as being conducive to people-watching.
Last but certainly not least, the service is friendly and can be amusing, as the staff quite often banter with each other. This sense of humour is reflected in the daily-changing blurb on the blackboard sign outside the shopfront.
For a great coffee and a nibble, Dose is definitely worth a visit.
THE NUTS & BOLTS:
Best for: A great, but fairly quick, coffee stop
Price of a flat white: £2.80
Wifi: Yes
Address: 70 Long Lane, London, EC1A 9EJ
I think this might be my favourite coffee shop ever ! One of the best cups I’ve had and the funniest interaction with the baristas given it was rush hour - the line that extends all along the shop and onto the street is testament of the good coffee. The pain au chocolat was also delish.
The playlist they had on at 8:15 am was so rogue I loved it ! Who doesn’t want a some rock and roll to start the morning
If the store was open on weekends I’d definitely be here every Sunday !
Excellent coffee prepared by knowledgeable friendly staff. Excellent coffee beans to purchase to brew at home too.
Busy spot on weekdays but they have a system and it works fast. Great coffee and long time spot for a great fix. Definitely recommended if in the ’hood. Plus they play awesome tunes!
Favourite coffee shop in London. They serve red brick coffee but it tastes better here than anywhere else I've had it, possibly due to water filter and barista skills. Food is also great including the avo toast with feta, breakfast muffins, bacon halloumi ciabatta, banana bread, and croissants.
Good for takeaway but also nice to sit and work in or just ponder life.
A truly excellent flat white, beautifully presented. Cafe was friendly and had some great looking pastries available. Probably the best coffee in Farringdon.
Love the coffee (truly excellent) and the mini omelettes, in particular. Great spot in an interesting location. Two minor observations: pastries could be better (smaller and more authentic); and the owner could do with cracking a smile a little more often :)
Excellent coffee and a lovely little shop. My new favourite in the area for sure :)
Beautiful tiny cafe place, great speciality coffee and tasty pastries, small garden place to drink outside. Our fisrt coffee in the city, very good decision! Thanks ☀️
Best coffee in London. Always playing a wide range of great music that you won’t hear in a normal coffee shop or store. This cafe has a ton of character, knows who and what they are, and aren’t about to change!
The best espresso I've found in London, the guest beans are always worth a try.
