I go there on Wednesdays for The Superglad music which is excellent. Live gigs featuring blues soul jazz bluegrass all from professional musicians. The pub is roomy and the staff are pleasant. They do pub grub too- pies mainly.

Today I returned to the place I grew up( The Beehive ) to find the Spit and Sawdust . Not only was I impressed by the decor and food , but the staff were very friendly. They made our visit , even allowing us behind the bar for photos . We will be recommending this pub and can't wait to visit again .

My first time in London as well as my first beer happened to be here at this Pub. Matt was a great host and gave us few tips about things to do in this great city. Friendly people with a welcoming environment combined with an exquisite beer!. Come and check it out

My first visit. We got off the bus and nearly walked past, but we peered through the window and saw such a great range of ales that we turned around and walked on in. We visit again if I am back in that London.

This was my first visit and, all in all, I had a very enjoyable evening. The music was very good (I do like a bit of old time jazz), and everyone was so friendly and welcoming without being overbearingly so (I do hate it when people fuss too much over me). In fact everyone was very kind and for once I wasn't made to feel self-conscious of my big ears or for being so short (not that it seems to put folks off - they just can't seem to keep their hands off me!) Apparently the pies were delicious, but as no-one was sharing I can only comment on the few crumbs that came my way, which were indeed rather tasty. However, there is one thing that has got me a bit hot under the collar: two dogs were mentioned in your latest e-letter with no reference at all to me - unless, god forbid, you mistook me for a staffie or a miniature poodle? (I know I'm short, but seriously?!!!!) In spite of that oversight, I'll be back for sure, when a biscuit or two might go some way towards alleviating any damage caused by the slight. And yes, I'll let you stroke my ears. (I know you want to....) From Bob the Bassett Hound (visited Wednesday 5 April)

šŸš‡Ā Elephant &Castle šŸŗĀ Ā£6.20 Utopian Lager ā¤ļø An engaging on point pub. . The Spit & Sawdust is located on a quiet side street not far from the Bricklayerā€™s Arms roundabout at the top of Old Kent Road. The nearest Tube is Elephant & Castle, itā€™s about a ten minute walk to get here. . This pub was originally built in 1869 as The Beehive. During WII it was hit twice in separate air raids sadly killing eight people, it was rebuilt in its current guise just after the war. This pub closed itā€™s doors in 2014 and was thankfully resurrected in 2016 under new management and changed its name to the Spit & Sawdust. . The decor here is contemporary and combines the old and the new very well. The seating is a mix of comfy chesterfield sofas, winged chairs and stools around poser tables. At the centre of the bar is a stylish servery which is clad in timber and has a cool set up for their keg taps. The are TVā€™s showing live sport dotted around the bar and a shuffleboard table which is a good addition to any pub. There is a rooftop terrace to hangout In the warmer months and an ingenious designed beer garden that makes great use of the outside space. . The beer lineup was impressive, lots of local London breweries are represented here across the 19 taps to choose from. I thought Iā€™d try out the Utopian Lager which hails from Devon, not my usual type of tipple but nice enough all the same. The food menu is Mexican, there is a good selection of Tacos, Quesadillas and Churros if you fancy a bit of tucker. . I visited around 4pm on a Saturday and there was a buzzy but laid back atmosphere, if that makes sense. There was a trendy crowd in attendance with limited moustacheā€™s on show. There is a very cool vibe here, it was easy to settle in and enjoy the surroundings. To keep you entertained, there is a pub quiz on a Tuesday and a Disco on a Saturday. . The @spit_n_sawdust ticked a lot of boxes for me. The beer choice was diverse and local, the environment welcoming and relaxed. There is also plenty to keep you entertained to make a day/night of it. Hats off, great set up. šŸ» . ā„¹ļø Info correct on visiting 11.03.23

I would have never expected a hidden pub in elephant and castle to have such good Mexican food. But it was a pleasant surprise. Worth coming for that and the happy hour.

We sat outdoors which is a nice setup and good use of the space with bunkbed style tables. However the ends of the patio area are uncovered, so the furniture there is damaged from the rain and unsafe. We went for Taco Wednesday and the tacos were really tasty, but they couldn't keep up with the volume of orders, so shut the kitchen at 7pm.

Ā£2.50 tacoā€™s were delish. Friend who has been regularly says it depends on the chef but I thoroughly enjoyed. Nice vibe, would return!

Went with a few friends for pub quiz on a rainy Tuesday - pretty fun one and the crowd was amazing. I picked this place because they have tacos, nachos and quesadillas and as an ex-Californian Iā€™m always on the hunt! The food did not disappoint. Would recommend booking a table in advance to avoid getting a tiny cramped space in the pub. The outdoor seating was also well done - itā€™s covered from the rain.

Really great craft beer. Today we came for the annual craft beer and cheese festival and we had a lot of fun. The beer tasters (1/3rd of a pint) were perfectly matched with the cheese selections.

A criminally quiet pub. This is a beautiful venue with an incredible beer selection, delicious Spanglish food from EDu, a great beer garden and a roof terrace - both perfectly designed for social distancing. And yet on a Sunday afternoon it is (for some unknown reason) not absolutely rammed. If you're looking for somewhere to drop into on a spontaneous sunny afternoon, this is the best pub in the area. Bonus points for the owner's adorable dog.

Nice pub, with a lovely dog that lives there šŸ˜ They have nice tacos, I liked specially the jackfruit option. On the menu you can see GF options, and not all tacos have dairy. So good option for people with certain food intolerances. The price was good.
