I live outside London but worth a drive to this lovely little café in Battersea. I had a delicious brunch with friends (Avo & poached eggs on toast with crispy bacon!). Really welcoming staff & a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere... Shame I didn't have room for lunch as well!

A really lovely cafe- the staff are so friendly and attentive and there's always a great selection of fresh, delicious food to choose from. An ideal place to meet friends and family for a bite to eat and definitely worth the wait when it's busy.

Food fresh & tasty, I had salads & quiche followed by coffee & carrot cake. Relaxed no rush atmosphere plenty of free minted carafes of tap water in chiller and service while excellent was left to your discretion a plus nowadays! My dining partners enjoyed waffles & poached eggs menu simple with enough choice. All fairly priced

Battersea has come along way since I first moved close by to this part of town. A few years ago or so, south-west London really wasn’t known for its food – apart from a handful of classics. Now however it holds some of London’s best and most exciting restaurants – but it’s still very young. One notable area in particular which has changed significantly is Lavender Hill. A long stretch of a road which separates Battersea from Clapham. A street once lined with take-outs and fast food, it’s now become a mecca for foodies looking for something exciting off the beaten track – one of those being The Social Pantry.

I don’t venture south of the river much. Which is a shame, as there are some amazing foodie destinations to be found if you’re willing to make the short train ride to Clapham Junction. Which I most definitely am. Last Thursday, I was invited along to a press evening at Social Pantry in Battersea, where we were treated to a fantastic three course dinner sampling some of their best dishes.

A couple of days after Battersea Arts Centre went up in flames, we dropped in for dinner at neighbouring café and catering company, Social Pantry, who have only just started serving food in the evenings (Wed-Sat only currently).

It's a charming little space, with room for a few small tables. Folding chairs are efficiently stacked on the wall, with an array of cushions ready to go nearby. When we arrived at 8pm they were doing good business, so you may want to ring ahead - 0207 924 4066

A locally brewed Belleville Commonside Pale Ale and a Social Pantry Vintage Spritz kept us company as we worked through a bunch of tasty small plates:

- Scotch Egg with peppered sausage meat

- Shredded Ham Hock & Cheddar Croquettes with Minted Pea Puree

- Homemade Cumin & Fennel Seed Flat Breads with Honey Glazed Shallots

- Slow Braised Ox Cheek with Roasted Carrot

- Sweet Potato Fries

Everything was delectable, particularly the generous portion of Ox Cheek, and the shallow fried Sweet Potato Fries.

Before we knew it, it was time for dessert. Head to the counter at your peril, where an enticing array of cheese and cakes awaits, including a Union Hand Roasted Coffee and Dark Valrhona Chocolate Cheese Cake. I stuck to my guns and ordered the Pain Au Chocolat Bread and Butter Pudding with Cinnamon Ice Cream which was simply outstanding - melt in your mouth heaven in a bowl.

Go for the buzzy, friendly atmosphere. Stay for that pudding.

Found this lovely little joint via the London Coffee App whilst on route through London. Really impressed first and foremost with the care and attention of the coffee the friendly barista made me. It was so good I had two back to back! The beans are sourced via Redemption Roasters, which is an excellent initiative helping young offenders within Aylesbury Prison learn a craft by training them up in the world of coffee. There’s a small collection of locally sourced cakes and pastries and a brunch menu on offer too. It’s got a friendly unpretentious vibe and had a mixed crowd from young mums, local businessmen and students. Highly recommended!

Amazing coffee (some of the group went in for seconds!) and very yummy breakfast, although eggs were maybe a little too baked but was really flavoursome. Nice environment in the cafe and service was decent.

This cafe is an absolute gem. Charming interior and staff. Flavorful and smooth coffee. We had the Croque Madame (with brisket) and chicken focaccia sandwich. Both were wonderful and great value for money. Will definitely return!

Friendly service, tasty food and have been several times. Pastries cakes etc are always great. Dog, laptop and child friendly! Always a lovely ambience. Good choice of food for dietary needs. Unfortunately website says brunch is served Weds to Sunday - but on arriving recently (on a Thursday) we found it was only the food counter available and that brunch is only served on weekends. Soft drinks are over priced (dalstons as an example). Hot drinks are always great.

Edit: Unfortunately they seem to have different chefs. I would not recommend going here because the food is no longer at the standard mentioned below. It's rare to get a brunch which feels genuinely exciting and original. The food was excellent and memorable. For that quality it was great value for money. Friendly staff. Great coffee. A must visit.
