Wow, I was not sure what to expect but this blew me away. Definitely the source of the delicious smells from the kitchen, the hotpot had a whack of Chinese five spice that was punchy and vibrant, with just a touch of chili felt in the back of the throat. Our small serve, at £14, had seven generous pieces of tender lamb, much more than we expected for the price, and we were stuffed by the time we got through it all.

Terrific Szechuan and modestly priced too. When we arrived I noticed it was full of Chinese people chatting in Mandarin.
We were a table of 6. One member of the local couple who recommended this restaurant ordered the lamb hotpot for the table to share. The hot pot is on a special paper menu where you can tick off with a pencil the type of broth base and any extras you want to cook in the simmering bouillon. It is not listed on the regular menu posted here. Not my favorite dish, but a good choice if you want a low fat meal in a Szechuan restaurant. Szechuan stir fries do tend to swim in oil. Excellent lamb stock contained several thick slices of meaty backbone. We had additions of enoki mushrooms, black wood ear fungus, tofu skins, sticky sweet potato noodles, beef balls, fish and pork balls, tilapia slices and prawns. I wouldn't order any of the soup balls again. As in every Chinese restaurant I have encountered, they had a rubbery texture I don't like.
My mom was evacuated to Szechuan as a teenager during the war so I volunteered to order a couple of dishes off the regular menu, being familiar with the kitchen. Mixed chicken gizzards in black bean sauce was delicious. Kind of a meaty spicy calamari. I also ordered the Szechuan standby of potato, green pepper and aubergine stir fry--one of the classic regional dishes which is not spicy. One member of our table requested another regional specialty of green beans dry fried with minced pork and dried chillis. All of the dishes from the regular menu were excellent.
The standard of cooking is very high here, and on par with the best centrally located Szechuan restaurants which are considerably more expensive. A copious dinner for 6, with 4 orders of plain rice, a bottle of wine, and a few pots of chyrsanthemum tea came to £18 per head including service. One of the couples paid their share by credit card, so we didn't get the 10% discount they offer when you pay with cash.
Bookings recommended on the weekend. It was quite full at 19:00 on a Sunday night. Service was very efficient.
Time to time I come here for a dinner, Its my favourite place to eat around the area, efficient staff and service, I have tried many dishes from the menu and every single of them i enjoyed to fullest, as the portions are very generous too! My favourite dish is Beef Noodle Soup and Beijing Paste Noodles together with a pot of Jasmine Tea! Hats off to the chefs and staff! Thanks for always looking after!

Be in this area for the first week and had eaten twice here—decent Chinese food with no compromise in taste or menu
I never tried this place when I had the opportunity to when I was living in E14. I decided to try a few days ago with a few friends who live nearby. I must say it's good, this is Northern Chinese cuisine so don't bother ordering any other dishes one is over familiar with. We didn't try the hotpot though, maybe next time.
A hidden jem. Proper traditional cuisine and very reasonable prices. We did not try the hot pot but friends who have claim that is not the best.
On the other hand the dishes we did try were excellent, very spicy but still full of flavour.
You could feel the burn the next morning.
Looking forward to visit again.
We had a lovely dinner here a few weeks ago, gorgeous ribs and Kung po chicken. Staff were very friendly. The restaurant was fairly quiet when we went but got busier through the night. Will definitely go back, looking forward to trying their speciality lamb hotpot.

It was a good hotpot place. Nice and tasty meat- it's unlimited as well I believe. My friend and I enjoyed this place. Quite empty when we went in, but started picking up later, nice place.
Ordered the fish and mopo tofu. Both are super good and goes well with rice. Slightly expensive though.

I entered this restaurant by chance on a rainy evening. In a moment I was brought back to 90s London – the unassuming décor with shiny dark wooden tables and chairs, the toilet at the top of a staircase through the side door (with very dirty walls and an even dirtier and worn carpet) these are all sights that are no longer so familiar, although 25 years ago were normality. I was a little nostalgic but undoubtedly unimpressed and definitely wasn't expecting the food to be any better than the surrounding.
I couldn't have been more wrong as I was about to experience some of the best Chinese food I have ever had (for the standards of a foreigner, as I have never been to China)... We ordered the beef with peppers in black bean sauce and the homestyle tofu with cucumber, carrots and mushrooms – both were outstanding. The tofu was soft and flavoursome, covered in huge pieces of dried chillies, and served with these extremely jelly-fish-like slimy mushrooms, which I had never seen before and couldn't get enough of. The dish was so hot that I cried all the way through eating it, but it was totally worth it! The beef was exceptionally soft, never had anything like it before, it was so tender it almost melted in the mouth but still had a firm consistency, it was peppery hot and extremely morish.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant, and looking back I think the décor probably added to the charm of the evening.

We have tried the featured lamb spine broth hot pot with herby broth, would recommend if you like Chinese spicy herb and lamb.
I would say it was the best Chinese food I had ever had in my life. The staff were very engaging and treated me like I was in their home. I actually tried a new drink I recommend. Its tea with a flower in it. I also had chicken chow mein and the chicken was the freshest I had ever tasted in a restaurant before. I am planning to go out my way to eat there again this week and you definitely should too!!
Lots of food choices and most of them are above the average level. Proper service and foods. Suitable for families or friends reunions. Serving with nice speed.
Haven’t been here for a while. We ordered something new this time but not as tasty as we had before. Personally I don’t recommend the seafood soup which is basically boring and kinda like a soulless dish. Bitter melon is another disappointing dish this time as well. Most of the spicy cuisines is good.
Excellent place! The food is amazing whether you eat in or take out, the portions are very generous. Highly recommend!
Possibly one of the best Chinese restaurants in town, and I do not say that lightly. Authentic, gigantic portions, great value, and most importantly, the food is delicious. Standards and portion size do not change when delivered as well. Could not recommend it more. Try the aubergines with spicy garlic sauce and minced pork - you will not regret it.
