I had the pleasure of being in this lovely place today with friends and family to celebrate the life of my mum whom we laid to rest today I want to say that I was in awe of the ambiance of the place and the total service we were given by the staff and the food they supplied I want to thank you for making each of happy and welcome I will definetly recommend to anyone who wants a good place to eat and drink so once again I say thank so much kind regards Donna Pryer xx
Held a baby shower here today. The staff were excellent the venue is beautiful and spacious and the food was top notch. 100% recommend!
Amazing food, friendly service and great atmosphere! Highly recommend
Best pub in South London! Lovely staff, great food, brilliant vibe.
Great vibe, fab food! Staff friendly. Manager sassy but in a good way. I'll be back!
Great atmosphere great staff. Clean toilets and yummy food. X
Great atmatmosphere 🍨 LoLovely pepeople , good Location ......................
I was in there on a Wednesday afternoon and the lady that served us was wonderful and friendly.
A wonderful venue which has seating out the front and a tabled area inside and outside to the rear. Fabulous menu to choose from and great staff to compliment a lovely Sunday outing.
On the up.
New faces. New ideas. Great music.
Roll on the summer!
Too many pubs so little time!. Another updated pub turned into a gastro type outfit.
Very large seating area and decent food served - I didnt see the kitchen but it must be pretty big to serve all those tables!
We went for Sunday roast recently which is not always the best reflection or test of a kitchen but the food we ordered was above average and the portions probably too big if anything. The bar area is well laid out in an island format serving some decent and interesting beers too.
Will have to go back on a different day to test the midweek menu but worth going to justy for a drink.

A great find right by Brockwell Park and Poet's Corner in Herne Hill . It helped that our first night-time visit to this area was accompanied by sunshine, a children's party with balloons, and a Paris-in-the-springtime vibe with the old-fashioned wooden-f
Our main reason for wanting to move is to basically save money. Living in Highbury is fantastic, but it sure weighs down heavy on the wallet. We had heard a wicked rumour that south of the river was a whole lot cheaper, well in some areas it does turns out that way. We'd been looking at places in and around Brixton, which is not quite as cheap as it used to be, well apart those really dodgy areas. We'd looked at a few places in Stockwell as well. Some lovely flats, really crap area though. We were slowly making our way towards Herne Hill which we'd been before on a few occasions for parties, drinks, throwing up at the bus stop opposite the train station etc etc. Herne Hill may be a little out of the way, but it is a lovely area, and we saw some great flats, although all the agents neglected to tell us they were all available now now, not at the end of March as we'd told them we wanted to move in by. Wasted days yet again. Except we found The Prince Regent, The Florence and visited yet
I hopped on a bus to Herne Hill to check out the popular Florence Brewpub opposite Brockwell Park. Two separate ranges of ales are brewed here by Peter Haydon, a former explosives engineer who spent 10 years working for the Meantime Brewing Company in Greenwich. The Florence Ales (Weasel, Stoat, Bonobo, Beaver) are only available at Capital Pubs, whilst the quirky Head in a Hat beers can be found all over London. I went for a pint of Beaver, a malty wheat beer with a hint of orange. You can opt for Sparkling Beaver if you like your beers fizzy.
There is plenty to enjoy here besides the beer too, though I'm never sure if wine on tap is a good idea! The pub is has a cosy village feel to it, with a food menu to match. There is a retro arcade table and a table football table to keep you entertained, and I'm sure there are some board games tucked away. It is also a family friendly pub with a dedicated kids play room next to the family area. Nearby you also have The Lido Restaurant and Bar, the superb Sesami delicatessen and café, and The Prince Regent pub which rotates interesting ales - plenty of reasons to visit Herne Hill.
Nice open plan pub this one, probably more of a drinking venue than food, but the space lends itself to large groups so good for a big catch up. I opted for the steak and ale pie, which was surprisingly good, with really tender meat and stewed veg. You know when carrots have been stewing in gravy for a long time and are the best they can be? - yeh, it had them. The mash was perfect too, but the gravy was a little light for my liking - nothing a good bit of English mustard won't rectify though! Conversely, my friend's dish was not quite up to scratch - a mushroom and aubergine burger with feta and a side of chips. Unfortunately, it was all a bit too dry. In general, a decent pub, with a lively atmosphere and late opening times so worth bearing in mind.
We hosted our engagement drinks in the Lupino room which is a lovely space for private events. It overlooks the garden so it’s a bit of indoors and outdoors.
Kyriakos and the team were super helpful all day/night and made our day very special indeed!
We were told the food platters were quite generous and I can confirm that this is the case! Plenty of food for the numbers they say they serve.
Glad to have this place as our local.
Highly recommend!!
The pub was very nice and we found the staff to be very friendly. They have Asahi on tap which was quite refreshing. Went there for a Sunday roast, the meat was really good however we found that there was a bit too much cabbage with the roast. I would rate the meat a 5 out of 5 and the veggies a 4 out of 5. If you go here I would recommend getting the Short Rib Burger which tasted amazing. We had to wait for about 5 to 10 minutes to get the a table on a Sunday (around 2:00to 2:30 PM), which wasn't bad at all.
A very good roast, one of the best I’ve had of late. I’d give it five stars but they clearly need more staff - the few they did have were working very hard so it’s the management’s fault: stop trying to do things on the cheap and support your workers!

Decent pub near Herne Hill Station and Brockwell Park. Only one cask beer on handpump when I last visited which is a shame as they used to have 3 or 4 when they were brewing their own beer.
Dining area at the back with an open view of the kitchen. Lots of outdoor seating at the front and in the pleasant rear garden much of it covered.
Dog friendly pub with a cosy outdoor garden. Have dined here a few times and food has always been tasty. Table service for outside at lunch time. Staff were very friendly and even brought water over for our dog.
We had our wedding reception at the Florence (exclusive hire) and it was fantastic. The day was managed to perfection and the pub had so much space to allow for everything we could have wanted. Ana and the team went above and beyond making our day feel really special. The food was incredible and the team made everything really easy. I’d highly recommend the Florence!
Absolutely amazing place with a very nice garden! The food is good and the staff very welcoming and very helpful! The other thing that I notice is that the staff is very well presented, very important when someone is serving you food and drinks! The Florence is my new favourite place in Herne Hill and Brixton! See you soon guys thank you for the great experience!
Had a gorgeous meal. Despite being first day back after renovations. Looking great btw.
Sea bass, gherkin ketchup and filo camembert were favourite food bits.
Birthday surprise sticky toffee pudding was amazing. So kind!
Jubel beer with peach a winner!
Service slow at first, but soon got into its buzzing stride.
Thanks all. Really enjoyed 🤩
We had a fabulous wedding at The Florence. Could not wish for better venue, food and most of all The Team. Such warm, friendly and super officiant people! Great memories were made, thank you.
As a tourist in the area for business , we have locate this nice corner pub!
The food was very nice!
The stuff was polite , smiley and attended to us which make us feel quite comfort :]
And we loved the decoration of the place!
As outsiders :P we fully recommend the place!
Best Sunday roast in Brixton by far!
I love it here, I keep coming back and am never disappointed. Food is delicious, staff is really nice and the ambiance is great with lots of options. Absolutely recommend!
Came for a few pints on a hot hot Saturday afternoon and ended spending nearly the whole day here!
Highly recommend their lovely garden to the rear of the venue that is not obvious from the front.
Great drinks selection, food and service.
I've been here a few times now, and I'm always happy with the experience. I came out of Brixton tube needing to feed 2 small children at 7.30pm on Saturday and had a strong suspicion that this would be one of very few local options that would still be family friendly.
Sure enough, there were at least 2 other families in the same boat as us. Burgers were REALLY good and the service was friendly and efficient. I was even more impressed because the pub was also accommodating grown-up meals, dates, friends having a drink and a chat, and people watching live sport on telly...and making it look seamless.
Next time I'm in the area and hungry, it WILL be The Florence. Good food, good selection of drinks, nice crowd.
Pro Tip: Watch your step when leaving - LITERALLY. When you come through the front door, you step onto a half step before stepping onto the pavement. It's very easy to roll your ankle if you've not paying attention.
I had an amazing time with time with my friends on Friday and the live music was great! A big thank you to the team that make our evening amazing! See you soon!

We have been to the Florence for long time now, was nothing special usually visiting only for drinks, but now after the refurbishment it's like a different pub! The new team is great, very welcoming and very good service, food is better now, and the pub looks great. Definitely I recommend The Florence.
