Definitely the most popular South Indian restaurant in East Ham or maybe all of London!
We've been going here regularly and just love their food.
Quite reasonable and definitely value for money!!!
Best Indian food found in the city specialy the South Indian dishes are very tasty, authentic taste. Been there many times the staff is good. Must try food here.
Popular brand in South India! They never mess with their quality 😄 made us feel home after a long time. We ordered masala dosai, mini ghee idly and badham kheer everything was up to the benchmark! Will visit this place again for sure.
Delicious, authentic, fresh Indian food and it is reasonably priced too. The south Indian cuisine is most preferred but north Indian dishes are great too.
Good place for Indian food and snacks. They have many outlets across London. We ordered for masala dosa and mango lassi both were good, they also serve refil for chutney and sambar.
Walking up the Sri Mahalakshmi Temple on High Street north of the Eastham station, this Saravanaa branch has spacious modern seating along a long bright room with great fare such as the pictured Paneer Dosa & Accompanying Sambars. Delicious!
heavenly nice food joint for indian staying in east London .
My frequent goto place for indian food craving most preciously south indian delicacy.
i had tried lots of things from their menu like Dosa's,idly ,vada north and south indian meals .
All food item were pretty good with desi touch and spicy as required.
Staff is also courteous and good.
bottam line , recommended .
I like dosa and i like the dosa from saravana bhavan ever since i have came to London. The staff is ever smiling and friendly, the service is fast and they have nice ambience aswell. I prefer going there on weekdays as there is too much rush on the weekends.
I visited this place with my family for lunch. We tried veg polau, masala dhosa and mango lassi. Food is very light and of balaced falouvours. We enjoyed each and every item we have tried. Service needs improvement.
Visited last week with friends. Best one in London with variety of option and taste is just awesome. Looking for to visit again soon. Very affordable price compare to others in London..
If you miss South Indian food, then this is the right place. Make sure you go when the restaurant is not too busy. You may experience a lack of quality in their service, but you would like the overall experience.
Good south indian food in different part of the world. Superb ambiance, a bit on costlier side but is a good option to have dosa, idlies, upma etc. Loved the place
We were very sceptical about going here as it's counterpart in Paris and Chennai these days are a big let down but to our surprise everything were very authentic and yummy. It is less than ten minutes walk from Eastham underground station.
We ordered Gobi Manchurian as starter which was very good. I had Idly which tasted good and it's Chutney were very authentic and yummy. My husband ordered Channa Battura and was good. We also had filter coffee which was just okay. Tried Jalebi and Motichor ladoo which was just average.
On another occasion, I ordered Idli and Meduvada as takeaway and it was good too.
Overall the food was good but a very busy place and I hear that it can be crazy on weekends so it is better to visit on weekdays.

It's a lot better than it's Indian counter part. Apart from the executive lunch thali, the food stands apart n gives an authentic touch. The ambience and the courtesy of the restaurant is warm.
A great place to try out some tasty "South Indian" cuisine. Dosas chole bhature are the most reliable diahes at this place according to me. Trying out indian desserts like kulfi is a very good option here.
Donot go to this place if you are looking for North indian food. This place is only and only recommended if south indian is the food which you want to taste.
Been to this place quite slot been if that means dine a take away but food as always been a foodies places to go, customer service is good at time when busy you might have to wait a while.
I was here some time back when I was in London. It's like normal sravana bhavan in India. But in India the service and quality is better than here. If you miss southern Indian vegetarian food, must visit there.

If you dint know, this is a branch of one of the most famous South Indian restaurants India! The taste is very authentic and a great value for money - especially the meals! The local inspirations cocktail fried idly or kara dosa is a must if you are good at handling spice. Rated a bit low owing to the ambience, almost feels like a crowded tube when you enter on weekends with super long waiting times.
Been in this place many times..Good for those who want to try dosas, idlis and other south indian dishes..
I have tried onion dosa n idli..didnt like paneer dosa though.
One of the best places for some good old South Indian food. Tried the dosa, sambhar vada and South Indian coffee. Felt just like home and was worth it.
Good place for a reasonable vegetarian meal.
They have many branches across the globe.
❤️ Poori masala - Poori served with Mashed Potato Gravy.. It will leave you with full tummy..
❤️ Rava Kesari - Suji ka halwa 😋😜 .. Too yummy..
It takes a bit longer for order to come but waiting is worth it. Have been 4 times on my holiday to london but satisfied every time. Place is clean, staff is attentive, food has authentic taste and rates are fair. Good luck
Have been here a couple of times & should say, they have maintained the taste & the preparation of many items on on the menu, closer to what is served here back home in Chennai. The sambar, the mix-veggie paratha, the uttapam, the coffee is all too good. You may find the idli a little hard at times, but one can pass it off while eating it with other great dishes on the sides. Highly recommendable for those who would want to have a flavour of NAMMA CHENNAI while amidst the ENGLISH ENGLISH 😊
This place is truly a home away from home. I have tried saravanaa bhavan before I appreciate the fact that they maintain their standards all around.
East ham is a place with lots of Indian restaurants and this place stood out!
It is located very close to the underground and present on the main street.
We ordered south Indian meal, masala dosa and onion uttapam. The food was absolutely delicious, served with indian sweets and they bring a wide smile on your face!
This place never leaves you unsatisfied!
Overall,
Ambiance- 3/5
Food- 4/5
Price- 3.5/5
Quantity- 3/5
I have visited both the places in East Ham and Chennai. The East Ham one was a particular favorite.
As students when you are away from home, you connection with your country is warm desi food. A place suggested by my friend Varshini, a wonderful find and does justice to every morsel of food.
The south Indian delicacies are fabulous. The dosas are not and hearty. The rasam will clean your sinus on a cold London winter day. The filter coffee brings a smile to your face The snacks and sweets are satisfying. Only if they were to have a branch in central London. ;-) The train ride costs more than the food!!!
You miss Indian food you come to Saravana Bhavan you won't go unsatisfied.

Not a pleasant experience. We had to wait for 30 mins to get a table. Unfriendly staff, poor hospitality. This place purely runs on its brand. However, they do serve authentic south Indian cuisine & somewhat were able to match the taste of Dosa, Sambar, Idli. One can surely try this outlet for the food.
The Same constant standard everywhere in the world. Sarvanaa Bhavan is the truly global South Indian food chain. A must try are the South Indian delights , Dosas and Idlis. Love the food and love the filter coffees!
Good, clean restaurant to eat south Indian food. It can get very busy during lunch hours on weekends so be prepared to wait for 15 - 20 mins, highly recommend for satisfying idli dosa craving.
Taste of home - good authentic south Indian fast food. there is another branch in Ilford which is very posh. this one is east ham is a typical fast food joint with great food.
Plus- THE go-to place for authentic south indian cuisine food in London
- Mini idli sambhar is one of the best items they have. Quick to serve and tasty as well
- Great value for money as one can have 2-3 items under 10 bucks per person!
- Good filter coffee (coffee enthusiasts should def. try)
Minus
- Always involves lot of waiting time in getting a table on weekends (not a surprise though!)
- Def. not the place if you are willing to have north indian food. They do have items in their menu, but not up to the mark in terms of taste
I went to this restaurant when I felt a sudden craving for Idli-sambar. It happens to be just a short walk from the Eastham station, and easy to find. The restaurant was less than half full at around 8PM on a weekday.
I ordered the mini ghee idli sambar - South Indian comfort food at its best! and I was not disappointed, but rather felt hungrier and ordered a Masala Dosa - The other traditional South Indian favorite, and it was served with 3 different chutneys and sambar. Felling fully satiated, I rounded it off with a Filter Coffee!
Happiness and Contentment!!! The most authentic South Indian meal I have had in the UK.
While I would normally give this restaurant a rating of 5.0, the service staff seem to favour those patrons who speak Tamil. That's downright unprofessional !!!
The food here is amzing really to enjoy it everytime im here, just dont tell them to make it spicy as sometime you won't be able to handle the heat. As for the swrvice is amazing but some days on a bust evening you will find the rush.
After long 3 months stay in the UK. I got a chance to go to a proper Indian restaurant. I went with my family friends. It was good cos I could find difference from the restaurant back in India. But enjoyed eating there, got to see the look Indian food after a long time.
Taste of Tamilnad never changes with saravanaa bhavan... Even though it's in London i got the same taste.. had very good breakfast with crispy dosa, idli and fresh sambhar chutneys.. but service is average..
Being an Indian, I could not stop myself from going to this place. My friends bragged a lot about indian food here. I had been here on weekend, luckily got place to sit. The ambiance, most of the dishes on menu are south indian. We ordered something paneer stuff n naan. I really loved the taste of that paneer bhaji. :) Most importantly the prices are pocket friendly, i mean we four people paid just 45. Although the service is bit slow but the food is worth trying. I would give 3.5/5 for service & 4/5 for food.
The most amazing food in London is served here I must say...thats why you have to wait in a queue to get a table...ohh yes!! Always packed!!
You have to try their sambhar and mango lassi for sure!!!
You'll feel home...no wonder I have been there so many times
I've seen many innocents waste their hard earned pounds at the more centrally located Sagar, and would ask them to take the tube out East, chance a half-hour wait and cram themselves into a hard-to-find table at this place. As its massive popularity with resident and visiting Indians suggest, Saravanaa Bhavan does mean South Indian food. While the crowds and the rushed service may not exactly translate into fine-dining, the food is authentic and the value for money is brilliant. Additionally, you get to see a part of London that others tend to overlook.
This outlet is a HUGE improvement over the Wembley one where service issues are rather worrying. Also, vegetarians rejoice - as the Zomato label suggest, everything on the menu is meat free and tastes great!
I travelled 80 miles to have good South Indian food. I am very happy if I am asked only about the food but the service put me down.
Absolutely fanstastic when it comes to taste and authenticity of the South Indain dishes. Havent bothered tasting anything else like the Indian styled chinese and North Indian dishes.
Their sambhar is so flavorful that it is actually better than some of the major south Indian Joints back home in Bombay. Please do try the Filter coffe its great. Mango lassi is also good.wada sambhar, masala dosa, rawa masala dosa, idli, all are good. Masala could have been slightly better but you cant expect more outside of India. Service can be slow sometimes as its always full and people are just waiting to get a seat but still deserves a 4 on 5.
I had the urge for some pure south Indian vegetarian food, so I called up a friend that lives local and went for a quick meal. Now, I am a big meat eater, but also feel that I eat too much meat in my diet so going here was a welcomed change.
I really wanted a Paneer dish so I opted for the spicy Paneer for a Starter and got Panner curry for my main. I have to stay I was blown away with the portion size and amount of food they give! It is a lot! I think I was nearly full half-way though my starter. My friend ordered some deep fried cauliflower.
You know what, I loved every dish, it is a very simple and basic food, but isn't that the best sometimes? I was like the Paneer curry as I the species used in the dish were ones that I couldn't identify. This style of Indian food is really different to the food I normally eat at home. I also ordered a Dosa which was massive and took up most of my table. In retrospect, I should've just got a naan, as I found the Dosa too thin and oily for my taste.
Service and Décor of the restaurant is basic and simple, it is East Ham after all so don't expect too much for the atmosphere. The bill was really cheap under £20 for 2 of us and the great part is there was loads of food to take home and have for my lunch the next day.
Food - 4
Value - 5
Service - 3.5
Atmosphere - 2.5
My saviour in London as far as South Indian food was concerned. Everything here was good especially after you have had cold sandwiches for a week. The only downer was the distance one had to travel to get here. But we always loved the meals here.
A visit to Saravanaa once a week is like my pilgrimage to the Makkah of South Indian vegetarian food. A clean place with efficient staff and kitchen and food that is to die for! The idly, vadas and dosas are heavenly and the accompanying chutneys and sambhar are equally amazing. To top it up go for the famous filter coffee and you would have achieved nirvana by the time you finish!
I am a regular for a sunday brunch. The food is delicious and exceptionally well-spiced.
They do maintain the standard of the food and is reasonably priced. Prompt service is just like cherry on the cake especially for a late Sunday brunch. The food is good on the whole - especially for what you pay. You can't go wrong!
Mini ghee idlis and mixed vegetable parotta are a delight.North Indian food is pretty decent as well.
The meal is not complete without a filter coffee- A must have. The quality of desserts needs to be improved though.
Would rate it as one of the best authentic South Indian restaurants in London. We go there once almost every fortnight and have not yet got bored of the taste. Have tried most of the dishes and have never been disappointed.
Filter coffee is a must have at the end of the meal.
A good value for money
This is my favorite south Indian restaurant in London. I go there almost every week. The food quality is consistent and you cannot go wrong with it. Beside food, fresh fruit juice and filter coffee are my favorites. It offers wide selection of North Indian dishes as well. The food service is very quick. Extremely good bang for the buck.
This is an easy one. 5/5, no 2 ways about this.
If someone asks me what does value for me means, I would simply suggest to have a meal at this place. I have been to this restaurant in 4 countries, and have been satisfied every time.
The staff is very good and prompt. You would not need terrible amount of prompting with the menu, pretty standard fare here.
This place is popular, so you may need to wait for your table on weekends. A definite visit!
Love it every time I visit.. The taste And flavours are consistent forever.
My favourite south Indian restaurant. Staff is not too friendly, but you go there for the food. The re is a queue on the weekends and peak meal hours. However the turn around is quick and you will never have to wait beyond 15 mins unless you are in a big group.
I would recommend it for south Indian meals, and Chinese isn't bad either. You have to finish the meal with a traditional filter coffee.
I wish they had a restaurant in central London and had rawa kesari everyday....
I have been to Saravana Bhavan in Wembley, Harrow, Leicester Square, and this time I visited Saravana Bhavan in East Ham. I was pleasantly surprised by the service. I have often had complaints about inattentive service at Saravana Bhavan, but the East Ham branch was a completely different experience. I went with a group of three and traveled for two hours just to have their Masala Dosa, and I was not disappointed. We were seated within a few minutes of our arrival. We were seated in the downstairs dining area, and the entire restaurant was bustling with activity on a Sunday during lunchtime.
Our server, Ms. Jenitto, was exceptional in her knowledge and service. She informed us that they had run out of Masala for the Masala Dosa, so she recommended the Kara Masala Dosa, which is a spicier version. She also suggested the tailor-made Dosa for me, and I honestly loved following her recommendation.
The food at the East Ham Saravana Bhavan was far superior to the other outlets in London. The Podi Idli is a must-try; we ordered two plates of it. The Filter Coffee is not to be missed, and the Manchurian was also amazing. We were so full by the end of the meal that we couldn't move. If I have enough time during my next trip to London, I will not hesitate to visit Saravana Bhavan in East Ham again. It truly exemplifies the beauty of South Indian cuisine.
One of the best Saravanaa Bhavan’s I have been to. The service was good, attentive and friendly. The food was delicious period. The taste of every item was authentic and served hot and fresh. I have been to many Saravanaa Bhavan’s across the world, and this is by far one of the best. Keep up the good work.
One of the best dosa I have had in the UK. The taste of the chutneys are out of world as well. Especially the green chutney. The place busy almost always. Unfortunately I only got the chance to try the ghee roast will be back to try out more food. A must visit if you love vegetarian South Indian food.
We tried the Devil mushroom, rasam, mix veg cheese Dosa, curd vadai, mango lassi, and coconut ice cream to finish as dessert. The food was awesomely tasty. We would sure visit the place regularly.

Go to place for South Indian food. 10-15 mins wait time but then the food is as tasty and authentic as ever. Kudos to Jo and John for great service!
I recently visited Saravanaa bhavan East Ham, a South Indian restaurant, and I must say I was blown away by the flavors and price of the food. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with the tantalizing smell of spices and the warm hospitality of the staff.
I started with the Sambhar vada. It was served with a variety of chutneys and sambar, a lentil-based vegetable stew. I also ordered Set dosa which was perfectly cooked and had just the right amount of softness, while the chutneys and sambar were packed with flavor.
Next, I tried the rava dosa, crispy crepe made from rava batter. It was served with coconut chutney and a spicy tomato-based dip, which complemented the dosa perfectly.
Overall, I would highly recommend Saravanaa Bhavana to anyone looking for authentic South Indian cuisine that is cost efficient and not a fancy one. The food was delicious, the service was excellen. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes!
One of the better Saravana Bhavan outlets in London. Masala Dosa & Tea were very good. Samosa was bad. Highly recommend if you are looking for South Indian breakfast food in London.
My family and I went for lunch, and our waitress Kanaga was most wonderful person. So patient with my dad’s many questions & helped us make amazing food choices.
Came here with a friend, so we ordered a selection of starters and a dosa each.
The portions are very generous, and if your spice tolerance is low, you do need to be careful with some of the dishes as they are spicy.
My spice tolerance is relatively low, so the mixed vegetable parotta and even the butter milk were too spicy for me, but I enjoyed the rest of the food, such as the gobi 65, cocktail fried idly, paneer butter cheese masala dosa, and the rasamalai for dessert.
Saravana Bhavan in East Ham might just be the most affordable option for this renowned chain in the UK. Nestled among a vibrant collection of authentic Indian restaurants, this location stands out for its genuine flavors and reasonable pricing.
If you find yourself in London or the surrounding areas, it's well worth the trip to East Ham to experience Saravana Bhavan, along with other nearby Indian eateries. The authenticity of the cuisine, coupled with the value for money, creates a culinary experience that resonates with both the taste buds and the wallet.
Authentic south Indian food. Sarvana Bhavan is like my favourite eat out place in London.
Highly recommended 👍
Fantastic vegetarian restaurant, with a great selection of dishes. Super friendly servers (thank you Sowmya!) and they always make an effort to accommodate us. Definitely pay them a visit if you’re in East Ham!
Great selection of South Indian food. We found the service quick and efficient. Great for all meals of the day, we found it hard to leave. In addition, great pricing - will return! ( I should say, if you are unfamiliar with Indian food, the servers do their best to explain).
Sravana Bhavan can never disappoint in India or abroad 🤗
We had dosa idly vada and manchurian. Everything was authentic. Loved the food. Ambience is good and staff is friendly.
The prices are good too. Must visit if you want to try authentic South Indian food.
One of the best South Indian food restaurant. Loved the dosa and crispy vadas and is served with a variety of chutneys!
Amazing Dosa, Chilli Paneer and Chilli Mushrooms. Would highly recommend. I have been visiting this place for over 10 year's. The restaurant has been modernised and the quality of food has got even better. Food is served with 15 minutes after been ordered. I wish they open a branch in Birmingham.
Yummy food always!! I am a regular customer. Consistently tasty sambar and chutneys!!! Kind staff too. Must try!!!
