Tasty ramen, oily dumplings and well presented bamboo shoots!
A little hard to find but we had fantastic steaks and red wine here in pleasant surroundings. A little bit of jazz as a soundtrack and some funky loos.
When you have eaten too much ramen from Ramen Nagi, Kanada Ya, Ichiban, Wagamama to Shoryu, Ippudo stays special. Consistent flavours in 4 outlets I have eaten at, every meal at Ippudo fuels my love affair with ramen. I definitely prefer the less enthusiastic kitchen in this outlet compared to the one in Megamall. Medyo OA ang ingay sa Madaluyong branch.
One of the best Ramen I've tried. The dumplings are amazing. Exceptional service and food quality. Nothing here disappoints. Busy at some times but its usual at good places. All the eggs and vegetables were amazingly cooked along with the pork belly. If you're in Canary Wharf, this is a mandatory place to visit.
No words.... 5 stars. Yuuuuuuuuuuuum! Give me a warm place and a blanket. The food is what your body needs in life... (140 characters)... Think about your grandma's cooking, now multiply that by 20 add 10 and you'll be on the same planet in terms of taste. Not the same city but at least you're on the same planet taste wise.

Arriving at Heathrow airport on a cold foggy London morning was quite the contrast from the 82-degree heat we had just left in Houston. By lunchtime we needed something warm and nourishing to keep us from succumbing to jet lag. A bowl of ramen seemed like the perfect solution. The Ippudo story dates back to its founding days in Japan in 1985. Moving internationally in 2008, the chain now boasts 120 stores and counting in Australia, Korea, Singapore, China, Taiwan, US and now the UK.

Not having had ramen in a very long time and with the great I heard about Ippudo my expectations were really high.
The good things about Ippudo Canary Wharf are that it is fast and efficient, even if there is a queue you are seated within5 minutes. Between ordering and getting your food the wait is also short which is great for a quick week night dinner with friends. The menu is also simple which I'm sure helps with the restaurant's turnover.
The disappoint things in my view are that the ramen is not that impressive. I ordered the Akamaru Tamago ramen hoping the addition of miso paste and garlic oil would enhance the experience but still found that after the first two bites the taste became pretty flat and boring. Besides that it was pretty salty, me and my company had to order several glasses of tap water because it was so salty. The egg was perfectly cooked and the pork belly, despite not usually being a fan, was very good! Not too fatty and very flavorful. But those are basically what saves the dish. The broth is just not exciting enough and the noodles were a bit undercooked.
Overall it was an ok experience, I didn't completely dislike it but unless there are some new additions to the menu I see no reason to come back.
Ramen wars continue and my next stop was Ippudo Canary Wharf. I never made it there during my trips to NYC, so I was excited when in came to London and even more so once the Crossrail location opened up as it makes a brilliant lunch spot. My fellow Boozy Buncher, Yee Gan, maintains it’s his favourite Ramen place in NYC (and possibly London? Stay tuned to find out!) The space is decked out in a modern take on the traditional Ramen house with a mix of counter seating and tables. The staff are friendly and mostly attentive as while ordering is a breeze, it can be hard to get the bill at times.
Among the throngs of restaurant chains that dominates Canary Wharf, it was refreshing to come across Ippudo - and with it came the hope of genuine Japanese food. Not something like Wagamama or other blasphemy of the sort.
Lovely hot ramen in drizzling London. Great for an affordable night out in this expensive city. Love the noodles and broth, with sparkling sake to boot.
I am so glad Canary Wharf is getting a bit more lively and Ippudo has been an amazing addition. I am completely in love with their pork hirata buns - it was this that I had spent the last week craving and this that drew me back again tonight. The steamed bun is not too heavy, the pork belly cooked to perfection and I could swim in whatever sauce they accompany this with. It is not too be missed! We did try the gyoza as well but whilst tasty, they paled in comparison to the buns - anywhere else they would've been lovely. Onto the main course, I have now tried the classic and the "karaka" and oh boy, if you like a bit of spice you have got to get the latter. It is amazing and the perfect comfort food after a long day at work. The only slight disappointment which stopped me giving this the highest rating was the service. Despite there being quite a few waiters wandering around, they all forgot our drinks and it seemed like a few customers had to follow up on their orders this evening. Otherwise, highly recommend this restaurant for a satisfying feed!
Great lunch. This was our second attempt to visit Ippudo at Cross Rail. Last week we arrived at 12:00 to find a horrendous queue and gave it a miss. This time we arrived at 14:00 and could be seated immediately. Our waiter informed us that a wait would be unlikely even if we arrived a little earlier at 13:30.
The cucumber salad starter we shared was both refreshing and intriguing. A small whole cucumber topped with crisp sesame seeds and a sesame dressing. Dressing contained sesame oil, garlic and quite a lot of salt. Not sweet like most asian sesame salad dressings.
I had the Akamaru Modern ramen. Delicious depth of flavor in the pork broth. Nice attention to detail too. My boiled egg had a beautifully runny yolk. Thin slices of fatty pork belly (not too much). A pretty golf ball of peppery paste floating in the centre of the bowl and a lovely puddle of garlic and black bean oil. My only complaint was that I wasn't asked how firm I would like my noodles, which were a bit too soft for my taste.
Good value for a filling, hot, sit down meal in Canary Wharf, actually. A really big bowl of ramen is £10-£12, where the upper end of the price range is the preserve of the vegetarian options.
I have lived and worked in Japan over several years, but am now back in London. I love the people, the culture, but most of all the food of Japan. Who could not love tasty noodles and ramen? It’s delicious. When I get to the new Ippudo at Canary Wharf E14, its housed comfortably in the the new Cross Rail Development, but I was excitedly apprehensive. I should not have been, everything I tasted and ate, far exceeded expectations. I was truly not disappointed.
The new crossrail railway will deliver world-class services in 2017. The new trains will carry 1500 passengers a train. One of the crossrail stations Canary Wharf recently opened this year. Boasting a retail park, landscape park, with new business. Ippudo London ramen brand new site takes residence at the high tech industrial modern site of Canary Wharf. With it’s global domination, including 80 sites in their home country Japan. Ippudo London offers Hakata style ramen. Flagship store in St Giles street has a total different vibe to Canary Wharf.
I was especially drawn to the Shrimp Mayo, a different take to the usual tempura prawns in Japanese restaurant. The succulent sweet prawn had a teeny coating of batter, splattered with a peppery mayonnaise. To finish off the crunchy dish, there’s a bed of crispy fried noodles.
What’s good about Ippudo is that you can choose the firmness of the noodles. Choosing Akamuru Modern, it’s a bolder version of the original deep pork broth. The Hakata noodles are super thin, and simply delicious. The broth is not as heavy as other places, served with a miniature scoop of umai dama paste. Thinly sliced pork belly chashu, covers three-quarters of the ramen bowl.
initially getting a table seemed a bit slow. but food is on point, service is attentive and efficient. sat at the "ramen case" bar- the lights can get hot.
Ippudo finally opened its Canary Wharf branch at Crossrail Place, and what a great addition it is to the area! For a lover of Japanese food like myself, this is a real treat.
Ippudo serves the best ramen I've had in London so far. Their menu is short (especially at lunch) but the bowls you get are full of flavour. We also had some starters - sauteed edamame with garlic and chilli pepper (much better than the steamed version) and moreish gyoza.
The ramen is based on either a tonkotsu (pork) broth or a vegetarian (seaweed and mushroom) one. We both went for the meaty one, which was nice and creamy, with wonderful noodles and a range of ingredients (and some extras that you can add, such as a boiled or poached egg, or additional pork belly). All in all a very hearty, satisfying dish - one that I'm sure will work even better on one of those cold, rainy days that are never too far away!
I really liked the ramen it was the classic one, slightly spicy.
The place was suggested by a very close friend who tried in Tokio.
Prices are reasonable for being in Canary Wharf and portions are generous.
I want to come back and try other dishes on the menu.
Service is super quick, from when we ordered until the bill, quite impressive!
Some tables are getting old and can be replaced.
Service was incredible - up there with high end service. The waitress who served me and my friend was really Knowledgeable, accommodating and polite.
I ordered a vegetarian ramen as I don’t eat pork but added some chicken. I must say the flavours exploded in my mouth.
There’s a Japanese phrase that the staff shout to the chefs and the chefs shout back which gives a real authentic feel. The decor here is also not to be missed.
5/5 for me.
This is the first restaurant I went to dine in after lockdown lifted! It's an amazing Japanese restaurant for ramen. I've tried other places but they just don't compare. How many places offer 4 types of noodle texture for every ramen bowl? Service is always attentive and quick. The restaurant has always done a great job of keeping customers socially distanced and sanitizing surfaces. The spicy veggie ramen is always perfect. When the weather is cooler, we always order the bot sake. Highly recommend! All the buns are very good as well. The only negatives are, Ippudo only offers 2 veggie style ramens on the menu and don't play Japanese music in the background. After all this restaurant is in Japan and would make the restaurant more authentic!
Great experience at Ippudo. Across the various chains, the food offering is really consistent, consistently good!
On this occasion we visited as a 2-top, food was really good, highly recommend the 6 piece takoyaki for starter then get any of the ramen offerings, you’ll be super happy! The quality of the ingredients is definitely noticeable against other chain ramen in London, Ippudo’s offering is much higher quality.
The Ippudo in Canary Wharf is normally really busy at peak hours and there is a queue, so recommend to get there early or late to avoid those peak hours.
Service was generally minimal, normally we do prefer more service if we are expected to pay service charge.
It was good and I had chicken box in appetizers and spicy veg ramen 🍜 and it was delicious 😋
The ramen taste is same as Japan Ippudo. Although the price is double compare with Asia, still I will come here again when I want to have the real Japanese ramen.
Ippudo Canary Wharf is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for delicious ramen in London. The restaurant is conveniently located in the heart of Canary Wharf, making it easily accessible for locals and visitors alike.
The veggie ramens at Ippudo Canary Wharf are simply divine, bursting with flavour and packed with fresh and healthy ingredients. The noodles are perfectly cooked and the broth is rich and fragrant, making for a truly satisfying meal.
The restaurant itself is stylish and welcoming, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot for a casual lunch or a cozy dinner. The service is attentive and friendly, with staff who are happy to help with any questions or requests.
Overall, I highly recommend Ippudo Canary Wharf to anyone looking for top-quality ramen in a great location. The veggie options are especially delicious, and the atmosphere and service are both excellent. Don't miss out on this amazing restaurant!
Walked in for lunch. As we came earlier, before noon, we managed to grab a couple of chair before everyone swarmed and started a long queue. I was surprised.
Tried Ippudo before but in a different country. The broth is definitely flavourful! I hope they open a branch in Reading or Berkshire.
Serving was enough for one. I also ordered gyoza. And had mochi for dessert.
My partner had something like a katsudon, which was surprisingly small (serving). He ordered two.
Would come back to try something else.
Unfortunately all ramens are either pork based or vegan so I opted for the rice bowl. I was originally a little disappointed in the portion size of the Inferno Chicken Don because it’s in a much smaller bowl than the ramen. But I was so wrong, it was more than filling.
The crispy gyozas were lovely and they do a great little lunch time offer.
Great price too
The food is great, especially the yaki gyoza. The restaurant is a bit warm inside, air conditioning was weak. I ordered gyoza but the staff forgot my order, after I remind them, they immediately serve the food which was great 👍👍
Great spot for some good ramen. Found the one I ordered a little salty but still pretty good.
Their rice dishes would be much better with a little more rice in it as the portion is quite small for £11.
What a find! Popped in for a quick lunch and straight into a gastronomic dream. I had the karaka-men with extra egg. The broth was amazing and the more I are the better the taste got. I also had pickled cucumber on the side. Highly recommended!
It was just meh. Not bad, but also not great. I was disappointed at how underwhelming marinated my onset tamago (egg) was. I’ll be back if it’s someone else’s idea.
