A lot of fun....the Saturday music soundtrack was a bit random...r n'b and garage....Will definitely trek over from the east end again
Always super friendly with tasty food. Lovely.
Nice local. Gd beer tasty food and nice selection of beers. Always a decent crowd
Love it. Friendly staff and great location :)
Really recommend this friendly bar! Great food and reasonable prices. Love the interior, friendly atmosphere and outside space to enjoy summer alfresco!
Great selection of drinks and food always delicious. Rarely disappoints. Friendly staff too! Please more film nights and cider and cheese nights!!
Nicely reused Post Office. Plenty of little rooms to relax in. Good range of real ale. Well worth a visit.
Fantastic food and staff. A great place to with friends and family
Great food and atmosphere.
We go to Forest Hill randomly, but when we want to have a beer in a nice pub & atmosphere, we always choose the Sylvan Post. It's just more relaxing, not pretentious, yet with a very curious and cool decor. Staff always seems happy and aware. Local vibe with open mind.
Great beer selection and board game!
The chicken wrap was SO tasty. Hot, tender, crispy chicken, perfectly wrapped and presented, and only £8! Alongside a cold pint and great atmosphere, not to mention exceptional service, made for a perfect lunch.
Sylvan Post - a great place!
Newly refurbished to a great standard. Looks amazing with an even better vibe than before.
Great to see the friendly staff back welcoming to all customers. A good range of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic and great tasty food at a decent price.
Good sunny outside space with comfy seating inside.
All-in-all a lovely place to go to relax, meet and enjoy. Recommended.
I have been popping in for a Sunday Lunch and I must say it's very good, the Yorkshire Puddings are properly done. Not burnt or dry, proper! Friendly staff, used to be the Post Office in Forest Hill!

My first pub in London and I really enjoyed the drinks and food, definitely come back again! Really nice staff!
Super-basic hipster style strip-out of a post office with a bar inserted. The food looked, and smelled lovely but we weren't eating. A fair range of ales and lagers, decent service. Pints around £6:20
Went for a Sunday Roast and it was great! Really cool interiors and delicious food, the roast chicken was particularly tasty! Our server Emily was really polite, friendly and attentive and we had a great first experience here. Can’t wait to come again another Sunday!
Went for some Fri night drinks. We at the end of the bar and had slow service, recommend trying to get in the centre. Also music was a tad loud when sat under the speaker, be mindful of trying to talk. But love the refurb, it feels more open. Will defo be returning.
Good selection of beer and wines and a fantastic good value lunch menu.. fish sandwich was exceptional
The manager, Emily is very efficient and I believe that this is the reason the pub is so popular. Great service.
Updated review:
I am delighted to share my experience of visiting the Sylvan post pub, and I must say that it was an absolute pleasure. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the ambiance and the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The pub had a charming old-world feel, with a unique character that I found to be truly captivating.
One of the highlights of my visit was undoubtedly the exceptional cheese selection that they had to offer. As a cheese lover, I was thrilled to find such a diverse and delicious range of cheeses to choose from. Whether you prefer soft or hard cheeses, or even something a bit more exotic, the Sylvan post pub has got you covered. The food was beautifully presented, and the taste was simply divine.
But what really stood out for me was the exceptional service that I received from the friendly staff, especially the manager Emily. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and the wine selection, and her passion for the pub was evident in her attentive and friendly approach. She made me feel like a valued guest, and I really appreciated her efforts in making my visit an unforgettable one.
Another unique feature of the pub that I found intriguing was the bank safe. It added a sense of history and character to the building, and it was fascinating to learn about its story. It's these small details that really make the Sylvan post pub stand out from the crowd.
Overall, I cannot recommend the Sylvan post pub enough. If you're looking for a memorable experience with a great cheese selection, friendly staff, and a unique ambiance, then this is the place for you. I will definitely be back for more, and I'm sure you'll love it too.
Unusual pub, tasty Sunday pork belly and lamb leg roasts. £37 for 2 mains and 1.5 pint. Reasonable price, good-sized portions, well-cooked food and the Portuguese beer good too. Glad I went.
Nice beer, plenty of people, decent food. Staff a little overworked and grumpy at the end of the night and the hard floor means it can get very noisy
This is the best pint of Guinness I’ve had ALL DAY. It was also the BEST SERVICE I HAVE EXPERIENCED in AGES. I suspect it’s all down to the new manager.
Really nice bar with a great vibe and fun character as it’s an old converted Post Office. Brilliant place for a few quiet drinks and good value to boot.
The interesting thing about this place is that it used to be a post office. Walls are decorated with framed postcards and stamps. The letterboxes for Abroad/Country/London are still there as well as the safes. That’s quite nice. I only had a tea so can’t say much about the quality of anything else they serve. Didn’t have coffee as they didn’t have soy milk, just oat, which isn’t gluten free. But it’s a very unusual place, a welcome alternative to the standard café/pub.
