Superb selection of French cakes! I'd highly recommend the Belle Epoque (their signature cake) or the Strawberry, Champagne & Rose if you prefer something lighter and fruitier.

Eric is a STAR. He is an artist few can match. I hope to have the opportunity to work with Hulya, Eric and Belle Epoque again in the future. I can only say TRES TRES TRES BIEN. Absolutely Superb. Congratulations!

If you're on instagram you've probably seen this beautiful looking gold eclair floating around and wondered to yourself if it's even real! Perhaps it's just a unique ornament - Or some kind of new age jewellery. It almost seems rude to eat such a well put together choux pastry! Well I ate one anyway... It's definitely not jewellery.

For those with a sweet tooth, I recommend Belle Epoque. The eye-catching, colourful and mouth-watering display instantly drew my attention as I was walking by. I wasn't the only one as it caught the attention of many onlookers looking over my shoulder as I sat outside, dabbing into the delicious baked goods. My favourite was the 'Chocoframboise' with the 'Frasier' coming in close second. The sugar overload prevented me from trying everything in the patisserie (that and money). Suffice to say, I would definitely return.

Came across this patisserie while walking to ottolenghi and I knew that I had to try their cakes. My favourite one is the Belle Époque entremet which was a chocolate mousse with creme brûlée insert. So creamy contrasting with crunchy chocolate pearls and not too chocolatey! The eclair was also very tasty but the peach tart had too much raspberry jam on it. Definitely go back there soon!!!

This cute little patisserie has just opened on Upper Street and caught my eye with its incredible window display of brightly coloured confections. I popped in on my birthday and was surprised to find a sleek modern cafe inside. Some of the cakes have a futuristic, spacey appearance to match the modern interior, a planet shaped cake with gold glitter spray particularly catching my eye. Other look as if Marie Antoinette would have eaten them, topped with cream swirls and rose petals. La Belle Epoque also sell fresh bread and sandwiches and a selection of boutique teas and sweets, displayed all the way to the ceiling.
The only thing I was a little disappointed by was the unfortunate seating areas. There were a couple of tables outside but these wouldn't be ideal in winter and the inside seating consisted of a few stools along a little bar table at the back in a darkened corner. I don't think I'd like to eat in and decided to take my cake to go. I ended up choosing a little bunny cake with had a chocolate brownie centre with a chocolate ganache outer layer and popping candy, delicious!!!

The cakes are good, not exceptional as I tasted some in Paris, however good enough to pair with a tea and enjoy a nice moment either with friend or alone.

I am a regular customer and couldn’t recommend a better place for cake and coffee on Upper Street. There are so many absolutely scrumptious cakes (my favourite is the Paris Brest which gives the best taste of hazelnuts), one of the richest selection of patisserie you can find in only the best bakeries, as well as other baked goods including the breads which are very high quality and have no additives. I recommend slicing the bread at home and placing in freezer to keep fresh, so that you can carry on eating for days.

If you're in the mood for some of the best pastries and cakes in London, head to this shop in Upper St here. The warm decor and friendly staff create a delightful atmosphere, but it's the delicious treats that keep people coming back for more. Don't miss out on their mouth-watering selection of cakes and pastries! So proud to have them in Angel.

Amazing desserts, a few tables to eat in. Vegan one was very fruity. Reasonable prices for higher quality patisserie, way better than many bakeries nearby

Beautiful little place with stunning cakes. I had this pistachio and apricot gateau that was ten times nicer than I could have imagined - and those are two of my favourite flavours!

I really like their viennoiseries, quiches and patisseries. Now that they have moved a couple of numbers south, they have a very nice sitting area. Service is usually very nice and efficient

One of the best patisseries in London! I have been going to this cafe for 5 years now and I just wish they were as well in my area, but the pastries they do worth the journey. This year I have ordered my birthday cake from the Paris Brest, and OMG!!! It was so delicious with a rich flavour of hazelnut. While collecting my cake I have decided to stay for breakfast. I shared with my friend the goat cheese quiche which was melting in my mouth, gorgeous pain chocolate and dark chocolate eclair! Everything was very delicious and the staff was super friendly and it was nice to see how they were greeting all the customers and most of them were regular customers as they had such a good rapport with them. On the way home I decided to take as well their new rustic baguette which was so delightful and did survive for long 😁😊 Thank you so much Belle Époque team for being always the best!

📍 @belle_epoque_cakes Islington, London Thoughts 💭 My oh my the lemon meringue here is exceptional. Fluffy meringue (that isn’t too sweet), really tart lemon curd and a perfect crust. If I was too return this would be a must get every time. The chocoframboise was also very nice. To be fair a chocolate mousse cake is always a good idea. It’s not enough to make me not explore other options they had. But I will 100% be returning 😍

The go-to French boulangerie and pâtisserie at the heart of Islington. Fabulous cakes – beautifully adorned, with layers of yummy mouse inside. The cakes also come in individual sizes. The mouthwatering window display is something to behold.

As a French person, I can confirm this place has authentic great French cakes. Staff is very nice and prices more reasonable than the ice creams shops across the street.

Their desserts are beautiful and tasty and I have had no problem with the customer service. All the employees were cheery and even cracked a couple of jokes. Lovely little find and at a reasonable price for the spectacular desserts they serve. My friend do complain about her hot chocolate being too bitter but that comes from a person who drinks coffee with 8 teaspoons of sugar so I would say an average customer will find their beverages to be just fine.

Given how many coffee shops there are on upper street the Coffee was quite poor but the patisserie were excellent, fresh and dealious and they had a really nice seating area with an outdoor garden too

The best quiche I have ever tried, often remember about it (need to be back for it). Desserts are perfectly balanced, not too sweet but still so delicious that you want more. Not like some other places make them so basic and sweet with nothing special that after one bite u don’t want it anymore.

I would say this is probably the best patisserie in Islington hands down. Very very tasty cakes. Will definitely return and hope for a warm welcome - we have around 15 more cakes to work through!!
