I had the pleasure of staying here and I have to rave about the staff! They were funny, charming, helpful, and so nice to talk with on a daily basis.
The rooms as mentioned in reviews are small but honestly, they are comfortable, you have everything you need, and it works well for the space. The rooms are clean, the windows can open for a nice breeze, and the service was wonderful!
The food is unreal here! I ate breakfast daily and tried something new each time and it was all great! For the last night, I treated myself to a wonderful steak dinner with a dessert and of course a pint of cider. The food literally melts in your mouth it is so good! Highly recommend the food, the drinks, all of it!
The location is near a tube stop, Brick Lane, and lots of a great food, history, and culture! I LOVED IT! It truly felt like a home away from home.
I stayed at the Buxton for a long weekend and had a wonderful stay. The staff are helpful and friendly, the rooms are clean and well appointed, the breakfasts are hearty and excellent, and the location is terrific. The neighborhood is interesting and lively, with lots to see along Brick Alley, Spitalfields Market, a short walk to the river and the Tower, and many transportation options within a short walk. It's especially convenient if you fly into Stanstead as buses and trains from the airport drop you at nearby Liverpool St. Station. My room was very comfortable and clean, with plenty of hot water and water pressure in the shower. I will definitely plan to stay at the Buxton again for future visits to London.
We enjoyed the cute little room which was very clean and actually just perfect.
The staff was super friendly!
Also the breakfast was amazing. So we had no complaints whatsoever.
Thanks a lot for everything!
We just stopped off for drinks.
Nice buzz to the whole bar, indoors and outdoors. Really appreciate the friendly and helpful staff.
Great no alcohol IPA beer.
What a great little find, right in the heart of London. Fantastic food, superb service and awesome atmosphere! The location was perfect, as you can walk anywhere in central London easily, the tube is also close by, Brick Lane is right outside the front door too. The rooms aren't big but are well proportioned and laid out. The vibe of the place is very cool and the staff are super friendly. We had lunch on the day we arrived and the à la carte breakfast, which were both fantastic. I would really recommend the Buxton and will be staying there again, hopefully soon.
Quaint hotel, with very friendly and attentive staff. Well situated if you are looking for something near Brick Lane/ London Bridge. The breakfast was really good. It is also worth making a trip up to the rooftop, where you will see some of the fresh herbs they grow for the lovely meals they serve.
We had a truly lovely stay at the Buxton!
The room was tiny yet well designed and clean. Nice touch also to get in and have jazz radio on.
Our favorite part of the place was breakfasts! Amazing food but moreover amazing staff, truly funny and professional. We loved the outlook of the ground floor with its good looking marble bar.
Very looking forward to coming back :)
We stayed in the hotel rooms above the restaurant. We had such a great stay. The rooms are small, which we knew, but perfectly laid out with everything you need. Very nicely decorated and the staff were friendly. The rooftop was perfect to enjoy our morning coffee in the sun!
We would definitely stay here again. The location on Brick Lane is great for those looking to explore Shoreditch
I don't write reviews unless a place is exceptional and the Buxton is one such place. The staff were all extraordinarily kind, cheery and helpful. The location is stellar, the rooms very comfortable and clean. And the breakfasts were generous and delicious! I might not recommend this to someone with mobility issues (stairs), but to anyone else, I absolutely would. I've stayed at a number of hotels in London, many far more expensive, but none nicer. I look forward to a return visit.
I came here short before closing time on my way from the north end of Brick Lane to the Tube station at Aldgate East.
While the place was finishing up its service, the staff (I didn't get the lady's name) was still very helpful when I asked what kind of beers they had.
She took the time to find a perfect fit and did so in a very welcoming way.
It's certainly not the upscale or posh pub, but it carries a very genuine and intimate character. It's almost like you're in someone's house and one can feel the staff is very happy.
If I'm in the area again, I'll certainly stop by again.
My wife, Louise, and I booked for Sunday Lunch yesterday. I decided to go for "Kitchen Counter"...if I'm honest, I did wonder if I'd done the right thing.
We were a smige early but it didn't seem to matter. Shown to the part of the bar opposite the chef's station and sat on comfortable stools. We had the absolute best afternoon with the staff. The food was first class and I loved being able to ask the chef's about the food that we were eating.
It was our first visit, it won't be our last!
Had the Sunday roast here and drinks. The food was excellent: pork was pork belly and very tender and tasty, veg perfect and gravy just right. They have a well chosen selection of drinks. The decor was very well done. Having been here years ago when it was The Archers, this is a big improvement. Will return for the food.
We were really pleased to have found The Buxton. In a great location, with very lovingly furnished, stylish small rooms, an inviting restaurant, a cool roof terrace, very good food and excellent service. We can only recommend the breakfast a la carte! We will be back definitely.
Small, charming hotel and pub. No lobby, other than the pub though. But excellent service and very friendly staff 👍
A really comfortable room over two nights. The location is really good for anyone who either wishes to explore East London, or those who are working more centrally and want swift TfL connections. The rooms are compact, but comfortable, and although there is always some noise until post-23.00 because of the pub downstairs, this is to be expected, and the hotel is very quiet after then, particularly considering its location. Service was prompt and friendly, while the breakfast was very good.
We came for dinner. The food was excellent. We shared several small and large plates... definitely good, even the vegetarian ones (my friend was vegetarian). The service was great, especially the blonde manager. She wasn't our waiter but did come by several times to check in on us. Would come back.
Rooms are basic but have everything you would need for a short stay, staff are fantastic and the breakfast was the best I've had in a hotel.
My husband and I stayed at the Buxton for the first time this week, and let’s just say we will DEFINITELY be back. Every staff member we interacted with was so kind and went above and beyond to make our stay a great one; the room was spotless (and cute!); and the food - my husband and I are still talking about how delicious the food and drinks were. We enjoyed some of the best meals and drinks of our London visit at The Buxton.
It was also only about a 2 minute walk from the tube station which made buzzing around London super easy.
Thank you for a wonderful start to our trip - we can’t wait to come back!
