I had one of the best pastas of my life at San Marco Ristornate.Arrabbiata Pasta which I ordered was cooked perfectly and tasted superb. The staff is courteous, fast in their service, helpful and very friendly. The place itself is beautiful and has a lot of sitting space.
Nice food and fast service. A litle bit hot and noisy. Good for tourists not for the regular citizen of London. Carbonara is good, like other good carbonaras from Italy
Very nice staff, amazing pizzas and pastas! Trully italian, even the water came from Italy! If you are in London and you like italian food, you should try this restaurant in Paddington!
Ordered San Marco Pizza (Veg) with Pint.
Taste: Good
Service: Very Good - Helpful staff
Ambience: Average
Price: Reasonable
Planning to have pasta next time..
San Marco Review
Friday 3rd April 2015 @ 19:30
This is long but please read the review.
Tonight my Wife & I went for a meal in the San Marco Ristorante & Pizzeria at 10 London Road, Paddington, London W2 1HL. I should say that I am an ex chef with some 20yrs experience in the trade, so I am VERY fussy when it comes to food and the environment it is served in. The restaurant is smallish (about 30 tables of various sizes) but cosy, well lit and very clean and well decorated. Tables are clean and neatly laid ready for you when you get to them, not rushed to be prepared once you have sat down. Italian style music. Some of the homemade desserts were on display in a clean tidy chiller cabinet.
The staff are all smartly dressed in white shirt and black trousers, are attentive, very polite and it appears ALL Italian.
One sign of good food is to find people of the same ethnicity eating in there and also to see a wide selection of other ethnic customers enjoying the whole experience as well.
When we arrived there was a queue at the front door to get in. There was a young man who was asking how many people were in your group, then he was going inside and telling the staff what tables were needed. We only had to wait a few minutes before we led inside to a table in the middle of a crowded restaurant and given a menu. The staff were moving at a rapid pace but not so fast that they didn't have time to answer the odd question that was thrown at them. As soon as we were ready one of the Bosses (Murat) came over to take or our order. We found out from Murat that they ONLY use Fresh Meat (not frozen), Fresh Vegetables and make their own Pasta and Pizza Dough every day and that comes through in the taste of the end product The Food.
The next bit is about the food, it's long but well worth the read.
The drinks arrived very quickly and when I asked for more ice in my drink the waiter went away and came back with another glass filled with ice and a small spoon to serve it to me.
We had to wait a few minutes for our starter, but that was understandable considering the number of customers in the restaurant.
My Wife had the Antipasto and that was Salami, Parma Ham, Milano Ham, about ten Olives and Rocket and generous portions of all. I had Minestrone soup, this was the tastiest Minestrone I have had for years. Carrots, Onion, Leek, Zucchini, Cabbage? and Chopped Tomato, topped with Parmesan Cheese and Black Pepper. As I said this was the tastiest Minestrone that I have had for years and when I had finished, there was no greasy residue you get with a lot of self made soups.
For our main course my Wife had Penne changed to Linguine Gamberetti on request, once again a very generous portion. It looked a bit dry when it arrived, but once the top layer was moved you could see that it actually was moist and had perfectly proportioned ingredients and very tasty. I had Veal Escalope with a Cream & Mushroom sauce served with Roasted Potato segments and Green Beans. The Veal was cut into small segments and was perfectly cooked and the sauce was just so tasty and just the right consistency with small pieces of mushroom in it.
As a dessert we shared a slice of Tiramisu. Too small really for two people, but it was just right for us. We rounded the meal off with a cup of espresso coffee and a Limoncello on the side.
Yes at times you may wait a little for the first courses, but when you get food that is, as good as it is at San Marco, a short wait is a small price to pay for great food.
I live in Poole, Dorset and would happily travel from there Just to visit the restaurant for another meal the whole experience was so good.
A BIG thank you to ALL the staff, the Waiters, the Chefs, the Pot Washer, the Poor Guy outside at the front of the restaurant in all weathers and to the Management, all one happy family that help you to enjoy your visit.
Try it you won't be disappointed.
Amazing place! Real Italian. Always busy. Great wine too. Very good prices. Staff is very friendly. I had salmon with potatoes which was very filling. We were offered free cheese board for dessert. I will certainly be back for pizza and wine!
Great place to eat if you have a craving for authentic italian pizza. I went with a couple of friends and had a nice time. Pizza chi chi richi is highly recommended if you are visiting the place for the 1st time.
Even the staff is really nice and warm and the waiter greeted us "Namaste" which scored some brownie points!
I like this place a lot. It’s a decent ITA restaurant
I only had a pizza but it’s surely good.
I ordered the pizza but somehow they came pasta, I said it’s ok to switch to avoid waste of food but the owner insist to change.
People might feel their attitude are bad or not polite but it’s their style. They would serve the best to you
I like it
The pizza were good, yes, it’s not the best I had before but it’s surely good stuff
In this area nearby the Paddington Station, pizza place I would go. I think it opens till late.
Service are good with nice staff
It’s not those full service type where u get someone stand outside a booth and take u in and seated. It’s a family style so adapt to it.
Atmosphere is bright and clean so it’s good.
Remember this is not a fancy Italian fine dining. It’s a pizza and pasta restaurant
I like it no matter what
Encourage you to come!
I gave it 4 because it’s not those top dining restaurants style so that’s a 4. The pizza ingredients can be better . I would give 4.5 star indeed
We are from NC, USA and we love love this Italian restaurant! We ate here repeatedly and enjoyed the pizzas, spaghetti bolognese, lasagna and everything else!!! We love most of all is the people! The owners are delightful and became our friends! Don’t miss out!
Amazing place. We stopped in for a small bite, a pizza, bread sticks, and calamari later; we were stuffed. To top it off; our lovely waitress brought over a couple of lemon cello shots. Wonderful find!! The wine was smooth and complimented the pizza perfectly. Will come back again!!
good pizza, perfect sourdough and right size. 👍🏼
we absolutely enjoyed the dinner there, three of us. The staff are all very nice and helpful. They know what "best services" means. We love the food, the dessert, and the environment there. The most enjoyable dinner at London^^.
The best penne arrabiata I've ever had.
Have been here twice and the food has been fantastic on both occasions. The service and quality far exceed the price, especially for a restaurant in Paddington. Highly recommend and will be returning soon.
A very lovely, authentic Italian restaurant! The pizzas were excellent. Music could have been better, but an excellent experience anyway!
The food is really good and authentic. The restaurant itself looks rather simple so don't be fooled. You can get there good food for a good price. We went there twice on vacation.
I feel like we must have gone to a different restaurant because our experience couldn't have been more different from many of the other reviews. While the service was a little slow, it seems like there were only 1-2 people working the entire front of the house. The gentleman who served us was quite a character and couldn't have been nicer.
As for the food, it was probably the best pizza I've ever had. Everything was freshly prepared and very tasty. The prices are reasonable, the restaurant is quaint and it's in an excellent location just a few blocks from Paddington. I will definitely go back the next time I'm in London.
Tasty food and good service. Lavinia has been so lovely in recommending foods and her smile has been so welcoming! Will definitely come again.
Best Italian
